Several people pushed the coffin into the interior of the Kryptonian spaceship. Hidden compartments within the ship automatically opened one after another, revealing several sets of brand-new Superman suits.
Lin Chen sighed. "Looks like the ship already knows Superman is coming."
They placed Superman into the spacecraft's cultivation chamber.
Cyborg operated the ship and explained, "When Luthor created Doomsday, he caused irreversible damage to the ship's capacitors—the main power storage system."
Aquaman stared blankly. "Speak human."
"There's not enough power to wake up the Mother Box."
Lin Chen said he could use the Five Thunders.
Everyone immediately stopped him, terrified he would blow the spaceship apart.
"I can do it," The Flash raised his hand. "When I approach the speed of light, it generates enormous energy."
Iron Man nodded. "In theory, that works."
Batman agreed. "Then we'll do it your way."
As everyone prepared, Kara—who had nothing to do—walked up to Lin Chen.
"Daoist, they all say you're extremely accurate at fortune-telling. Do a reading for me."
Lin Chen originally wanted to refuse, but he also wanted to see whether his techniques worked on a Kryptonian, so he nodded.
Activating Water Mirror Physiognomy, he began calmly:
"Kara, you are a noble with great fortune. Your parents loved you deeply. You lived a happy childhood, but later your parents sent you to protect your cousin, Kal…"
Kara nodded. She had slept for nearly twenty years; her mindset and appearance were still that of a teenager.
"I miss Mom and Dad…" Her eyes filled with tears.
Lin Chen patted her head gently. "It's okay. When Superman wakes up, you'll have family again."
He continued the reading—but suddenly his expression changed drastically. Cold sweat formed on his forehead.
Kara became anxious. "Daoist, what's wrong? Is the future hard to read?"
At that moment, Cyborg activated the Mother Box.
He suddenly trembled, as if glimpsing the future—yet the Mother Box began falling toward the cultivation chamber.
Cyborg shouted in horror, "No—!"
The Flash heard it from afar. "Go?!"
"Then let's start!" The Flash sprinted forward.
Lin Chen snapped his hand out. Using telekinesis, he flung the falling Mother Box away!
Everyone was shocked.
What was the Daoist doing?!
"Daoist Master!"
"What's going on?!"
"There's no time to explain," Lin Chen said urgently. "Tony, go save Superman's girlfriend—Lois!"
Iron Man didn't waste a second and blasted off.
Lin Chen grabbed The Flash. "Quick! We're going too!"
"You must not wake up Superman!"
With that, Lin Chen flew away at full speed.
Superman Memorial Plaza
Lois had come early in the morning to visit the memorial. She came every single day, rain or shine.
The police thought she was honoring Superman—but in her heart, she was visiting Clark.
"Tsk tsk… I really envy your love."
A strange voice sounded behind her.
A clown in an electric wheelchair rolled forward, grinning grotesquely.
Lois was instantly on alert.
"Who are you?!"
The clown ran his fingers through his greasy green hair. "I'm a Superman fan. I envy that he has a girlfriend like you—and a child on the way."
Lois stepped back. "You know I'm pregnant?"
"I know a lot," the clown chuckled. "Superman will be resurrected soon. Unfortunately… you won't get to see it."
He stared at her with a twisted smile. "Madam, we have no personal grudge—but I want this world destroyed. Hahaha!"
"Batman. Daoist priest. I'll be waiting for you in hell!"
He pressed the detonator.
"Tony—get here now!"
Boom!
A massive explosion erupted. The ground shook. Dust filled the air.
Iron Man grabbed Lois around the waist and flew out of the smoke.
Lois was covered in blood, completely unresponsive.
Lin Chen arrived and took her from Iron Man's arms. Her injuries were severe—her face soaked in blood, bones shattered.
He immediately cast several healing spells, then pressed acupuncture points to stabilize her condition.
"She's bleeding internally. She needs emergency surgery."
Lin Chen inserted over a dozen silver needles and carried her straight to the hospital.
Doctor Strange and Zhao Listin were just finishing an overnight shift when Lin Chen and Iron Man burst in.
"Stephen! Emergency surgery—now!"
Doctor Strange quickly arranged the operation.
After examining Lois, he frowned. "She should be dead from these injuries… yet she's alive. That's strange."
His gaze lingered on the white-glowing healing runes.
Lois was rushed into surgery.
Lin Chen followed, but other doctors tried to stop him. Doctor Strange and Zhao Listin allowed him to stay.
As surgery began, Lin Chen reminded them, "She's pregnant."
Doctor Strange frowned deeply. "She might die herself. Do we prioritize the mother… or the child?"
Zhao Listin said softly, "She's already suffered so much. Losing the child would be too cruel."
Doctor Strange snapped, "You're a police officer!"
Lin Chen leaned close and whispered, "That child is Superman's. Think carefully."
Doctor Strange froze, a chill running down his spine. "If I don't save the child… I'll be a sinner?"
"Sinner? You're overthinking it. If Superman is resurrected and finds his child gone, what do you think he'll do? Vaporize you with heat vision—or toss you into space?"
Doctor Strange stared at him."I just worked a night shift and didn't even get a sip of water. Now you dump something this heavy on me?! I can't handle this!"
"Stop talking and operate."
Lin Chen released more healing runes and channeled spiritual energy into the fetus.
Three hours later, Lois was saved. The baby was also safe—perhaps due to Superman's genes, the fetus was exceptionally resilient.
Lin Chen finally exhaled in relief.
When he exited the operating room, everyone was waiting outside, disheveled and tense.
Kara said, "A monster came and stole the Mother Box. It also injured the ugly brother."
She had only just arrived on Earth. Without enough sunlight, she wasn't strong enough yet.
Aquaman raised his hand. "The 'ugly brother' is me."
Diana looked deeply frustrated. "The Mother Box was activated. Steppenwolf was teleported away. We couldn't stop him."
Iron Man sighed. "So… he has all three Mother Boxes now?"
Batman was thinking about something else. "How did the Joker know to target Lois? Who saved him?"
Lin Chen frowned as well. "The Joker killing Lois and her child at this timing was meant to provoke Superman—corrupt him—and push him into secretly cooperating with Darkseid to destroy Earth."
"But who taught him this? Who knew we were resurrecting Superman? I don't know."
Lin Chen shook his head. "The deeper I get involved, the harder it is to see the future."
He had only glimpsed it because Kara was new.
In that future: Darkseid invades Earth seeking the Anti-Life Equation. Superman is manipulated into ruling Earth with brutal force.
Kara tries to stop him—and is killed by Darkseid.
Other heroes die, flee, or go into hiding.
"Walter Set?" Diana asked.
Lin Chen shook his head. "Uncle Walter is just a businessman who wants more money. He wouldn't care about destroying the world."
Batman said gravely, "Then… Luthor?"
"Maybe. Or maybe someone hiding even deeper in the shadows."
The Flash suddenly asked, "Is a corrupted Superman stronger?"
Lin Chen nodded. "How does Superman absorb energy?"
"Sunlight."
"What color absorbs light the most?"
"…Black?"
The Flash finally understood.
