Chapter 80 - Chapter 80

[Chapter Size: 1800 Words.]

---------------------------------------

In the following two weeks, Harry remained in a trance.

He was somewhat anxious for the Dark Man to appear again, but at the same time, deep down in his heart, he was terrified of the Dark Man. Although up to that point, the Dark Man hadn't done anything truly harmful to him, the time Harry fainted on the street shouldn't have been a real threat, right?

But Harry still felt instinctively afraid.

Because the other party was so unpredictable. The fear of the unknown is the most primal instinct of humans.

However, from that day on, the Dark Man disappeared just as quickly as he had appeared, without any warning, and never returned. In fact, as Harry's memory of him grew fuzzy, he was almost starting to forget his existence.

But after all, there were changes.

Whenever Harry activated his magical senses and looked at his left hand, he knew that everything was happening in reality.

However, Harry couldn't figure out what was so special about the changes in his left hand.

Harry imagined that they would need to go to Hogwarts, where magic could be used, to see what had changed. After all, judging by the current situation, the changes were magical.

There was little progress in studying his left hand, but there was good news elsewhere.

During this time, Harry had told Fred and George about using Muggle mechanical equipment to build a magical production line, which earned him many compliments from the twins. They called Harry a genius in their letters.

Harry spent two days studying the blueprints of the equipment that Uncle Vernon had given him, which had been discarded at the company. He found the simplest ones and created two improved plans to send to the twins. After several days of discussion, it was confirmed that it was feasible.

The two sides communicated with a frequency of nearly two letters per day.

Compared to Harry, the twins had more open minds, thanks to their greater understanding of what magic could do. And I must say, the twins had very rich imaginations. Whether it was potions or prank products, they had more ideas.

But now, there were two problems bothering Harry and the others.

One of them was the money to buy the equipment that Harry and the twins wanted. Although, compared to the original prices, the cost of these outdated devices was almost negligible. But for a twelve-year-old boy like Harry, it was still an amount of money he definitely couldn't afford.

Not to mention the twins, they had absolutely no money like ordinary people.

The second problem was the operation of these mechanical devices.

According to Fred and George, it wouldn't be difficult to transform these devices into machines to make potions or prank products, and both already had some ideas about it.

For ordinary people, changing the appearance and structure of mechanical equipment is a very difficult task, but for wizards with good skills, it's easy.

Changing the appearance of inanimate matter isn't really considered advanced Transfiguration content. The only issue is the difference in magical requirements due to the size of the equipment and the rigidity of the materials. But that's not a problem. The twins could change them bit by bit, and it wouldn't require too much time or energy.

However, keeping these devices running continuously was something the twins were completely unable to do at this stage.

There is no perpetual motion machine in the Muggle world, nor in the wizarding world. If you want the devices to keep running, you must continually infuse magical power into them. Of course, powerful wizards can keep things running for long periods, like Professor McGonagall's chessboard, which not only works automatically but can also repair itself. It's really cool and amazing.

But the twins were far from that level.

And they couldn't ask their parents for help. Because in the wizarding world, at least in the British wizarding world, it's illegal to privately transform Muggle items that aren't on the approved list into magical items, so flying carpets aren't allowed in the UK. They are made by Muggles, considered Muggle items, and have never been approved for modification.

When Harry first learned this, he was shocked for a while.

Although this kind of thing basically falls into the category of "no one reports it to the public and no one investigates for the government," as long as you don't provoke Muggles and cause too many problems, usually no one will take the initiative to intervene, it's very common in the wizarding world for wizards to occasionally cause trouble for Muggles.

But for the Weasley family, this was quite embarrassing. The father of the twin brothers, Mr. Arthur Weasley, worked for the Ministry of Magic and was responsible for this work.

Harry hadn't known this before. Ron had just said that his father worked for the Ministry of Magic. Since Harry didn't have parents, Ron and others around him tried to mention their parents as little as possible in front of Harry.

Now that he knew, Harry felt a bit of a headache. This was well beyond his ability.

According to the classification of magical knowledge, this aspect should actually fall under the category of alchemy. Unfortunately, Hogwarts doesn't have a course on alchemy. This is because there has never been a great alchemist in Britain, and the school couldn't find a suitable teacher, unless Dumbledore was willing to teach the classes. He is the only wizard in Britain who could hold the title of Master Alchemist or even Grand Master.

Dumbledore was highly talented in alchemy, as evidenced by the fact that he could collaborate with Nicolas Flamel on research. He was offered the title of Master Alchemist or even Grand Master, but he refused. The reason remains unknown.

To research and produce prank products, the twins had indeed studied some alchemy knowledge, but the effect of this self-study was still very limited. At least not enough to keep a large device running.

Besides these two problems, there was another relatively minor issue, the location.

However, the issue of location wasn't a big problem. The Potter family, to which Harry belonged, had once been one of the wealthiest families in the wizarding world and owned many properties. Harry knew of an ancestral house and several villas.

Although none of them had been inhabited for more than ten years, repairing them was not a very difficult task for wizards. Even if it was a spell to repel Muggles, the twins could find a way to solve it, as long as they had the money.

So, after that, the three of them started looking for solutions to the first two problems.

About a week later, the issue of funding was resolved first.

Through the twins, Harry exchanged the gold Galleons his father had left him for some pounds at Gringotts.

Compared to exchanging pounds for Galleons, Gringotts was obviously more interested in the business of exchanging Galleons for pounds. This is reflected in the fact that there is a handling fee for exchanging pounds for Galleons, but not the other way around.

This is easy to understand, after all, wizards don't usually use things like pounds, let alone goblins.

Harry exchanged three hundred Galleons, equivalent to fifteen hundred pounds. This amount of money was not enough to buy even a single piece of equipment. But if it were an old, discarded piece of equipment treated as scrap, it would be more than enough.

With the mediation of Uncle Vernon, Harry was able to spend less than 800 pounds to buy all the equipment they wanted. The other party also gave him some for free, which Harry thought could be improved.

Harry also learned from Hagrid the location of several of his parents' properties, and the most suitable one was a house in Godric's Hollow.

Originally, there had been a small single-family building there. But now it was in ruins. Well, eleven years ago, Harry's parents had been killed there, and the small building had been destroyed that day.

After that, it remained deserted.

Since Harry had to live with Aunt Petunia, naturally, the place wasn't renovated.

However, the location was protected by a magical barrier created by the Ministry of Magic. As long as the heir of the Potter family, Harry, went to the Ministry of Magic to go through some formalities, he would be able to use it again. After all, no matter how damaged it was, it was ultimately a Potter family property.

Of course, it wasn't a problem to go to the Ministry of Magic to handle the barrier issue. He could go and take care of it at the end of August, after Harry had been home for forty-two days.

The previous problems were basically solved, leaving only the biggest issue, the operation of the equipment.

Harry had expected this problem to last a long time. However, what he didn't expect was that just two days after purchasing the equipment and before retrieving it, the twins said they had a solution, but it needed to be tested.

Harry was somewhat impressed by the enthusiasm and level of the two and, without much thought, sent the equipment he had bought but not yet used to an address provided by the twins via logistics.

So the twins only replied with one letter in the next two days, and Harry didn't pay much attention to it.

But the following week, Harry didn't receive any letters from them, and all the letters he sent seemed to have disappeared into the void, which made Harry a little unhappy.

But after thinking about it, he felt that the twins could be studying the equipment modification problem and didn't have time to respond to his letter. So Harry suppressed his dissatisfaction a bit and began doing his homework with peace of mind.

There was still a lot of homework from Hogwarts.

Especially for the two courses of Charms and Transfiguration, there was a lot of theoretical work to be completed. There were also many assignments for History of Magic, but most of them aimed to express some views and opinions based on events from the History of Magic textbooks. They were subjective and easy to bluff.

The Transfiguration class was different from the Charms class because it involved a lot of understanding of magical patterns and structures, and if you didn't think carefully, you wouldn't really be able to do it.

As for the magical quill the twins had promised, Harry didn't have high hopes.

He had previously thought that it would be great if he could see the finished product before next year's Easter holiday, which would allow him to have a more comfortable Easter break.
