"Even now," Augustus continued, "I'm still working when I should have retired years ago. Because no one could replace me."


Augustus turned to Ren again, and for the first time, there was something close to pride in his eyes.


"But now," he said quietly, "I have found my successor."


"Bastard or not," Augustus said, voice firm, "he carries Visenzo blood. And I am serious about training him to take my place."


Vince stared at Ren, mouth slightly open.
