Chapter 78 - Strategic Contempt, Tactical Importance!

A familiar voice, accompanied by a piercing alarm, echoed in his ears.

The Lizard would never forget the owner of that voice.

"Batman!"

Turning sharply, the Lizard saw the man he'd recognize even if he were reduced to ashes, clad in black armor, cape billowing, jaw exposed.

Although his battle suit had changed somewhat, the basic features remained the same, and his voice hadn't changed at all.

"So it's you!"

The Lizard grinned ferociously: "Excellent, I've been looking for you for a long time! I didn't expect you to appear before me on your own!"

"You seem overly confident, Connors."

Anton looked at the Lizard in front of him, his tone dismissive and calm. He had no need to fear a former defeated foe.

Of course, despise the enemy strategically, but take them seriously tactically.

Anton wasn't underestimating the Lizard.

After all, without killing him, taking this guy down... it looked like he'd have to break all his limbs this time.

Maybe the next time they met, the Lizard would be a super cripple, only able to type with chopsticks or control experimental equipment with voice commands.

"Batman, I am no longer who I was!"

The Lizard was full of confidence as he roared and lunged at Anton.

Anton's face was expressionless. He traded a blow with the Lizard, felt the power of the Arkham Knight armor, and then curled his lip. He grabbed the Lizard's joints and yanked hard.

Lizard's eyes widened, as if he was reliving the night he'd had his limbs torn off by Anton.

Crack!

The sharp sound of dislocated bones echoed.

His body stiffened. The arm he'd thrown a punch with felt detached, no longer his own.

Even though Connors had transformed into Lizard, he hadn't fully become a reptile. His body maintained a humanoid structure, still vulnerable to joint locks.

Thump!

Anton didn't give him a moment to recover.

With a smooth, well-executed over-the-shoulder throw, Lizard slammed hard into the ground.

The laboratory floor caved in, cracking like a spiderweb.

"Batman!"

Lizard let out a pained howl, his eyes bloodshot with pure hatred, as if he wanted nothing more than to bite off the man in front of him's head.

"Looks like I didn't serve you up right, since you got a chance to talk!"

Anton responded with a cold laugh.

A sharp Claw Hook Gun sprang from the upper part of the armor on his right forearm.

The Claw Hook Gun slammed into Lizard's left arm, piercing his humerus. Then, a punch followed, completely crushing the Lizard's entire shoulder joint.

Sssshhh!

Blood gushed out, and Lizard's expression twisted in agony.

This level of excruciating pain was a second experience for him.

The Claw Hook Gun's sharp tip pierced him, a slow, agonizing torture.

Lizard turned, his left arm dangling, and struggled with all his might.

Batman tightly gripped his left arm, got up to dodge his long tail, ripped off Lizard's arm again, then swung a huge chair nearby, smashing Lizard away. He tossed a bat-grenade and retreated to avoid the explosion.

BOOM! The grenade hit him in the face.

A loud roar, like a meteor crashing to earth, echoed.

At the same time, terrifying flames and shockwaves ravaged Lizard's face.

The air currents raged wildly.

Batman's cape billowed in the wind, snapping loudly.

When everything calmed down, Lizard was sprawled on the ground, completely disfigured. One arm was gone, and his entire body was charred, with burn marks everywhere. The white lab coat, standard for researchers, was reduced to tatters.

After being thoroughly thrashed by Anton, the creature had lost most of its fighting ability.

However, given Lizard's self-healing abilities, which allowed him to regrow even severed limbs, he could return to his peak condition in about half an hour.

Anton, of course, wouldn't give him that chance.

In Lizard's pained and terrified gaze, he used the short sword on his suit's wrist to sever the creature's other arm. He also chopped off both of its legs and its tail.

Lizard was now just a... Lizard stick.

Blood splattered across the lab.

At this moment, Osborn Manor's security team finally arrived, albeit belatedly.

They held advanced energy weapons. Seeing the chaos in the underground laboratory and Lizard's miserable state, they were all momentarily stunned.

"Batman!"

Someone exclaimed in alarm.

The next moment.

Boom!

A flashbang forced everyone to shut their eyes tightly. After a moment, they opened them, their eyes burning red, an unprecedented stinging sensation.

But Batman had already vanished.

At the same time, the Lizard, now whittled down to a "stick," had also disappeared.

The members of the security team exchanged glances, swallowing their saliva.

They thought of their boss, Norman Osborn, who had become irritable recently, and for a moment, they didn't know what to do.

Osborn Manor, the outer woods.

Lush foliage blocked out the pale moonlight. In the shadows, Batman brought the crippled Lizard here.

He casually tossed the Lizard onto the ground and asked, "Where's Green Goblin? What's he doing?"

The fight with the Lizard had only attracted the security team, not the Green Goblin.

This was wrong.

With such a commotion, the Green Goblin shouldn't have missed it.

"Heh heh."

Lizard looked weak and didn't give Anton a good look, sneering, "I won't say anything..."

Chhh!

Anton was ruthless. A short sword sprang from his wrist, slicing off the newly grown flesh where Lizard's limbs had been.

Lizard sweated with pain.

The fire in his eyes seemed to heat the air.

"Batman!"

"We're not done yet!"

Ignoring the words, which were spoken slowly and deliberately, Anton ignored him directly.

"Once I fix you up, I'll send you to the Inferno to keep Kingpin company. I hope he'll take good care of you in your new, legless state."

Anton glanced at him indifferently and summoned the Batmobile.

He tied Lizard to the back of the Batmobile and got into the driver's seat. He gave the command to take off, slammed on the accelerator, and the Batmobile sped away.

The security team at Osborn Manor finally noticed the vehicle, now a shooting star, hurtling towards the sky.

"This!"

Their headaches intensified.

They were doomed! Batman took Lizard away!

...

Meanwhile.

Eddie and April searched the New York sewers. After following up on some unusual incidents they'd heard about, they finally tracked down the Ninja Turtles that Anton had mentioned, the ones that could speak.

"They're in there," Venom's voice echoed in Eddie's mind.

Although they'd narrowed down the Ninja Turtles' primary activity area based on clues, it was Venom's senses that ultimately led them to the unusual sewer entrance.

"Are you sure about this intel? Are they really down here?" April seemed skeptical.

She didn't know Venom existed, so she found it hard to believe Eddie had just found those four talking turtles.

"Trust my professional expertise."

Eddie didn't even blush, pulling open the manhole cover and leading the way into the sewers.

"Alright!"

April shrugged helplessly, unable to argue with Eddie, and followed him down.
