"They don't!" Helcia said with a cheerful smile. "But we're special friends, so we can do anything couples do and still stay just friends!"
Lando's jaw tightened as he quietly gritted his teeth, his hands curling into fists at his sides. There were many things running through his mind, but he chose to keep his composure and replied calmly, "I see…"
They sat together in the garden for a while, long enough to finish their cheesy baked potatoes. "Let's go home," Lando said softly. "The air's getting colder."
Helcia nodded and helped him up, guiding him toward the car. On the way back to the mansion, she suddenly mentioned wanting to stop by a costume shop, and when she came out, she was carrying a dragon costume with a huge grin on her face.
Lando had no idea what she planned to do with that ridiculous thing, but he didn't ask. His mind was too full of other thoughts that had been bothering him since earlier.
