The great hall of the Blackwood fortress hummed with voices as nobles and Alphas from allied packs filled the space, presenting cases and suggesting solutions beneath the vaulted ceiling. The Alpha Triplets presided from their raised dais. Alpha Knox sat there, physically present, but his eyes stared blankly ahead, seeing nothing of the proceedings before him.
This morning, Knox had awakened naked and covered in blood, sprawled across hay-strewn dirt in a stranger's goat farm, with absolutely no memory of how he had gotten there. Three dismembered goats had lain scattered around him with their intestines spread across the ground. Luckily, no one had seen him. But Knox knew that was not something to be proud of or rejoice about. This time, it was a goat farm; next time, where would he find himself? He had shifted into his wolf form and run back to the castle.
It was happening more frequently now. The blackouts. The violence. The waking to blood not his own.
