Chapter 13 - What Have I Gotten Myself Into.

Lila's POV

Here I was, packing the little I had to get going with Cole.

He had accepted my condition, which was that I had to bring Holly with me, and now she was packing beside me ready to leave.

"Oh my gosh. I'm super duper excited." She squealed for the fifth time in two minutes.

"I know that, Holly. Now calm down. I don't even know why you're so excited."

"Girl, you have to be kidding me. You have no idea that your mate is a fucking billionaire? Or that he has a lot of company among the human people?"

"I know that, but I still don't think it's that serious." I chuckled as I sat down on the bed to calm down a bit.

"Oh yeah. I forgot you were raised in a rich home. My bad."

"Now you're making me seem entitled. Stop it, Holly." I scolded her with a light smile, memories of my father running through my mind.

"No. I mean what I said. I genuinely forgot you were raised in a rich home. You are so nice and super humble and sweet, that it's crazy to believe you once lived the billionaire lifestyle."

"Oh well. That was all in the past. We're looking to the future now, so let's let that go."

"You're right." She reached across from where she was sitting on the bed, covering my hands with hers, causing me to turn to face her. "You went through something so horrible, but now we're moving. Let's hope for the best, shall we?"

I smiled and wiped the tears that were already spilling out of my eyes. "Yeah, you're right."

"Good. Now let's be happy and ready to leave." She said in a jolly tone as she retrieved her hand and zipped the bags.

"Okay. Yeah." I nodded as I tried to convince myself. "I just wish my mom could be here to witness this with me. To witness me finally have a mate ... that accepts me." I said the last part after recalling that she had seen me have a mate before.

"You'll still find her and tell her soon, okay? Now come on, let's get going."

We got up, and she helped me carry my bag with hers, seeing as it had basically nothing in it because they didn't let us take anything here.

"You ready?" Cole called from where he was conversing with one of the guards as he saw us coming out.

"Yeah." I nodded knowing that he wouldn't hear me from where he was.

Or maybe he will. He was an Alpha anyway, and even if he wasn't, his wolf was enough to help him hear what I had said.

"I'm a bit scared, Holly," I whispered in the hopes that he wouldn't hear me.

She got the hint and pulled me back into the house, which was soundproof, so that wolves outside couldn't hear private conversations.

"What do you mean? You can't be scared now. Okay, tell me. What exactly are you so scared of?"

"What if he doesn't want me when he realizes that my wolf can't be awoken?" I whimpered.

"He won't want you if he already wants you now. And it can be awoken if you can possibly feel the wolf bond, okay? I've been a Werewolf for a far longer time, and Alpha Cole's been an Alpha for a long time too, so we know. Don't worry, okay?"

I nodded vigorously, as if that was going to make it come true. "Okay."

"Good. Now wipe those tears, and let's go, before he starts wondering where we went."

I wiped my tears as she wrapped me in a big hug, and after planting a smile on my face, we left the house.

"Why did you guys go back in?" Cole stretched his hand out to me. "I was about to come in and make sure you were alright."

This one was directed only to me, and both of us knew that.

"I'm fine. We just went to pee one last time, because we have no idea how long the journey to your pack is going to take."

"Oh. Well, it will take a while, but not too long. It's like a two-hour drive." He wrapped his hand around my waist and led me to the black tinted SUV that was waiting for us.

That was a really nice car, that was for sure.

"Is that yours?"

"Yeah." He said and flashed me a sad smile. "I would have brought the better ones but the road here is not so good, that was why I brought this one. At least it could withstand the road."

Holly gasped but then masked it with a cough, and now I had to try to hold back my laugh. I was also shocked, but nowhere as close to how shocked she was.

"Oh. That's understandable. But this is a really nice car too. My dad had the same brand but his own was like two years before this version."

"Oh. I had that one but I gave it away. It was really nice."

"Yeah," I said awkwardly as we walked into the car.

"So now you'll be driving and I'll be left all alone in the back," I said this when Holly was still walking up at the back, and when I was sure she wasn't listening in on our conversation any longer.

"You've got Holly." He smiled widely at me.

"I know, but… never mind." I smiled shyly.

"I know what you mean, darling. Don't worry though. You'll have me throughout the ride. I hired a driver for today."

"Really?" I asked excitedly. "Oh yay." I hugged him tightly before going to take a seat.

"Do you think I'd drive too many hours knowing I can be chilling with my Luna instead?"

The drive was the most fun I'd ever had. Holly and Cole had the craziest banter and I spent over ten minutes laughing. I laughed so much that my ribs hurt, but now we had just gotten to the estate of the bloodthorn pack and shit was different.

Everyone looked at me with so much hatred and disdain from the guards to the women on the street.

And I couldn't help but won

der. What the hell have I gotten myself into?

I wasn't going to survive here, and I knew it.
