Chapter 12: On one Condition.
Lila's POV
I had no idea what was going on when I stepped out of the room. Everyone stared at me like I had suddenly sprouted horns….or wings. Some of them stared at me with pure disgust and spite, while the others looked at me with joy and excitement.
"I'm pretty sure you …."
"Arrhh," I screamed and jumped forward. "Holly don't you ever fucking creep up on me like that again." I laughed and turned around to face her.
"I'm sorry. I forgot you didn't have your wolf yet. If you did, you'd have sensed me coming before I did."
"Whatever. It's fine." I laughed and patted her shoulders. "Come on. Let's go to the kitchen. And what were you trying to tell me before I screamed both our heads off?"
"Uhh, first of all, you're not going to the kitchens. And the reason will be explained to you when you're done answering my question."
I was just completely confused, so I nodded and motioned for her to ask the question.
"Tell me what happened between you and your mate," Holly whispered and wiggled her brows.
"Really? That's the question?"
"Mhmm." She nodded smugly. "That's the question."
"Okay fine. What particular time are you talking about? The time when the guards called me from your room or the time when he sneaked into my room in the middle of the night."
Holly gasped dramatically with a hand on her chest as she took two huge steps back. "He sneaked into your room? Girl, what have you given that man to drink?"
"I didn't give him anything, Holly. I was just myself. And we really can't be talking about this here in a hall filled with wolves."
"Let's go to my room. You have to tell me everything."
"We have to be working, Holly." I snapped. "Alpha Vance will have both our heads if he finds out we're talking in the bedroom while others are working, and I promise you, he will find out as long as Jade walks these halls."
"Well, he can't have your head, and seeing as you're my friend, I can lie that you called me to talk about a serious matter and that your mate was aware and then he won't have my head either. Easy peasy, full moon breezy."
What the actual fuck was she saying?
I stared at her in confusion for a while before I spoke. "Okay, Holly, you have to tell me what's going on. Otherwise, I won't be able to go in there and talk to you with a clear mind. What the hell is going on, Holly?"
She sighed and rolled her eyes. "Fine. I'm going to tell you, but it's just so that you'll tell me everything that happened in detail. Agreed?"
"Agreed."
"Okay. So this morning, the guards gathered everyone because Alpha Cole had called a meeting of everyone. We all went for the meeting and I swear I was sweating on my ass when he was done speaking. He threatened everyone that if anyone treated you like a maid or insulted or even looked at you the wrong way, he was going to kill them."
"Kill them?" I clamped my hands around my mouth when I realized I had just yelled.
"First of all, shhh." Holly snapped. "Second, he didn't exactly say that, but that's what he meant, and I know it."
"Oh my goodness, Holly." I laughed and pushed her as I started going up to her room. "Remind me next time to never take anything you say the way you say it."
"Hurry. So you can tell me everything that happened between you two yesterday."
…..
"...and that's how it happened."
Holly's mouth had been open for the past ten minutes of my conversation, and she still wasn't closing them now.
"Whoa." She whispered, still staring at me in shock.
"Okay. Please say something. You're making me feel super weird right now."
"That was hot." She said as if in a trance.
"Hollyyy," I whined. "Can you stop?"
We both froze as we heard a knock on her door.
"Shit. They've come for us." I whispered as I grabbed onto her arm.
"Didn't you hear what I told you earlier? You're a Luna now. You're safe. Get that into your skull."
"I don't know." I whisper-shouted as I held tighter onto her arm.
Who knew if she was lying or joking? If this happened today like she said, then where was I when it happened?
"Can I open the door now? I mean, that's if you're done squeezing all the nerves in my arm." Holly said in a very judgmental tone, causing me to shamefully let go of her.
"Sure thing." I laughed and followed closely behind her, just in case it's a situation where we have to run.
"I heard that my Luna was in here." I heard Holly unlock the door.
Cole. It was Cole.
"Good day, sir." Holly bowed lightly as she opened the door.
"Cole." I ran and wrapped my hands tightly around his neck in a hug.
He wrapped his arms just as tightly around my waist, and I began to wonder. Was it the mate bond that made me feel like I'd known him forever?
What was going on?
"Why did you come all the way up here to look for me? You could have just waited for when I would come out." I took a step back in respect of his personal space.
"We have to go back to the Bloodthorn pack. My time here is up."
"That's true. You came here to find your mate and now…."
"I found her." He tilted my head up and planted a light kiss on my lips.
"I can't go with you though," I said sadly, the truth washing over me.
"And why is that?" He asked softly, tugging me closer to himself.
"Because Alpha Vance said that he was never going to let me go." I bit back tears as I spoke.
"Well, Alpha Vance has given me permission to take my Luna, and that's what's going to happen right now."
"Really?" My chest rose in excitement, but then it came to me. I couldn't go just like that.
"I'd go with you, but on one condition."
