Chapter 251 - Chapter 251: Continental Magic Association

Chapter 251: Continental Magic Association

Fidel's ready agreement was within Kurtz's expectations.

The king was a clever man, though he had made a mistake in the past, mistakenly trusting Grausam, which led to El's light being taken and even corrupted for a time. If Kurtz hadn't appeared in time, Schlacht might have been able to draw on more of El's light's power, which would have made things even more troublesome.

Now, Kurtz deliberately delaying its return was partly to punish him. It was also to make him remember the lesson. After all, Norn had left a command back then: El's light was not to be used except in times of national peril, and even on ordinary days, no one was allowed to gaze upon it. This was to prevent its location from being known by those with ill intentions, which could lead to serious consequences.

And Fidel had clearly violated this command, directly bringing Grausam before El's light, giving him the opportunity to touch the holy sword. If it weren't for him being a descendant of Norn, Kurtz would have really wanted to give him a few big slaps.

"In that case, I thank Your Majesty for your strong support." Kurtz nodded slightly, setting the tone for this brief conversation.

"That's natural, but there are some things I think need to be clarified in advance. If you and St. Katia Magic Academy come into conflict, the Empire will not intervene."

Kurtz and Serie wanted to establish a Magic Association, encompassing all Magicians on the continent, which would inevitably lead to some disputes with the most renowned St. Katia Magic Academy on the continent. And for Fidel, neither side was an object to be alienated, so he naturally wouldn't choose to favor one party.

Of course, if Kurtz was willing to promise that the Magic Association would participate in the politics of El Country, then everything would be different.

"Your Majesty seems very eager for Magicians to participate in politics. Why is that?"

Because when writing the magic book back then, Kurtz had discussed with Norn that in order to avoid future national-level wars involving a large number of Magicians, the book subtly admonished the Magicians learning from it to focus as much as possible on the path of magic.

And St. Katia Magic Academy was a very good example of this. It did not participate in any internal human conflicts and even forbade students within the academy from serving other countries. Only when facing foreign races, especially attacks from demons, would it act, sending Magicians to resist the demons.

"Alas!" Fidel sighed heavily, leaning back in his seat. "To be frank, Lord Ade, in recent years, the Southern Unified Empire has incorporated most of its domestic Magicians into the ranks of court Magicians, which means that on the battlefield, it will deploy an army of Magicians into combat, and ordinary countries have no possibility of resisting."

"Is that so? I understand." Kurtz nodded, no expression visible on his face.

In the following days, the entire royal capital of El Country became busy.

Emperor Fidel personally supervised, designating an area near the royal city as the site for the Magic Association. Large numbers of craftsmen and materials began to converge there, and the outline of a magnificent building quickly appeared on the horizon.

Kurtz and Serie naturally became the core of the entire project. Serie was particularly serious, and when Kurtz asked why, she said that she might be staying in this tower for several centuries, so she naturally had to design it to her liking.

During these busy days, the subtle atmosphere between the few people continued. The relationship between Serie and Kurtz became increasingly intimate and natural.

Ayla occasionally saw the intimate interactions between her two teachers, which greatly surprised her. It was the first time she had seen Teacher Serie display such a rich range of expressions; she didn't even seem like an elf anymore.

And Frieren would occasionally tilt her head and ask indifferently, "Is expressing love among humans just kissing each other's lips? It feels a bit strange."

As for Flamme, she perfectly played the role of a disciple. She occasionally assisted Kurtz with some work, continued to learn Serie's magic knowledge, and also contributed her part to the various affairs of building the association. Her communication with Kurtz was limited to matters of magic and the association, and her tone and attitude had returned to their original state, with no more overstepping actions.

She would even pull Ayla along to guide Frieren in magic.

However, whenever she saw the intimacy between Kurtz and Serie, her steps would slow. She would lower her head, trying her best not to look at the scene. Her long red hair concealed all emotions, burying that persistence deep in her heart as well.

Kurtz tried to talk to her several times, but she fended him off with various excuses. She was like a taut string, pouring all her energy into the task at hand, not giving herself any chance to relax or overthink.

On this day, the main building of the association had begun to take shape.

Emperor Fidel enthusiastically invited Kurtz and Serie to inspect the progress together, with Flamme and Ayla accompanying them. Looking at the towering building that reached the sky, Fidel couldn't help but exclaim, "It's truly exciting! I wonder, Lady Serie and Lord Ade, have you decided on a name for this future holy land of magic?"

Everyone's gaze focused on Kurtz and Serie.

Kurtz glanced at Serie, saw the eager expression on her face, and thought of her terrible naming ability. He wanted to say something, but before he could open his mouth, Serie preempted him.

"It's called the Continental Magic Association!"

As expected. Kurtz instinctively covered his forehead with one hand.

"Uh..." Fidel tried to ask for a specific reason, "Um, Lady Serie, does this name have any deeper meaning?"

He turned slightly toward her, his tone careful as he tried hard to think about the meaning behind this name, but he couldn't come up with anything.

"Meaning?" Serie tilted her head in confusion. "No! I just thought since it's a Magic Association that encompasses the entire continent, it should naturally be called the Continental Magic Association. It's very straightforward, isn't it?"

Fidel: "..."

"This is too simple, isn't it?"

He cast a pleading look at Kurtz, trying to get him to say something too.

Kurtz turned his head away, trying not to meet Fidel's gaze. "I think it's pretty good."

"Hehe! After all, it's my name!" Serie puffed out her chest proudly, clearly very satisfied with the name.

Even Ayla applauded in agreement, "As expected of Teacher Serie."

Frieren also nodded. "Indeed."

Seeing that no one had any objections, Fidel could only shut up. Anyway, for him, as long as this Magic Association could provide a continuous stream of Magicians for El Country, that was all that mattered. Only then could they maintain a certain advantage under the threat of the Southern Unified Empire.
