"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Chapter 195: Across Time—Origami, Angel of Extinction
She would become the very thing she loathed—a Spirit—just for power?
The thought alone made Origami's skin crawl. Her scalp prickled, and a chill ran down her spine.
To make it real, Shuo Nangong summoned the power of the Star Grail. With a gesture, he swept the girls into the river of time itself—straight to the moment when Origami became the Angel of Extinction, crossing the boundaries of past and future.
He made sure to disguise Reine's identity, just in case.
"What's going on, kid?"
Nia's voice wavered, her eyes darting around as the world blurred and shifted.
Yoshino and Tohka pressed close behind Shuo, nerves on edge.
Shuo turned, voice calm. "Don't worry. I'm using my time abilities to replay a possible future. Origami, maybe this will answer your doubts."
Origami's eyes widened, shock flickering across her face. But she nodded, bracing herself for whatever came next.
The scene unfolded—
Origami, clad in AST tactical gear, stood in the ruins of an unfinished building.
Her fists hammered the crumbling walls, rage burning in her eyes.
"Why? Why can you live peacefully, protected by others, after killing my parents?"
She punched the wall again, knuckles raw.
"Why! Why!! Why!!!"
"Over and over, you take everything that matters to me."
Her face flushed with fury, lips bitten until they bled.
"It's all because I'm not strong enough."
"If only… if only I had that kind of power, I could stop all of this!"
Suddenly, the air shimmered—a mosaic blur materialized beside her, voice mechanical and impossible to place.
"Tobiichi Origami. Do you desire power?"
Origami turned, barely caring who—or what—it was. Her answer was instant, wild, desperate.
"Power! Give me power! I don't care what I have to pay!"
The phantom extended a hand, palm opening to reveal a white Spirit crystal.
"Use this, and you'll gain strength beyond imagining."
Origami didn't hesitate. She snatched the crystal, and the moment it touched her skin, it melted into her body.
Light exploded around her—white, blinding, wrapping her in a cocoon of spiritual energy.
Her form shifted, transformed by the crystal's power.
The others watched, each with their own reactions.
Kotori, Nia, Yoshino—all recognized the ritual. It was exactly how they'd become Spirits.
Origami herself stared, transfixed, as her future self changed before her eyes.
She'd never imagined she'd go this far.
Shiori and Tohka just gawked, wide-eyed.
But Reine… When she saw her own future self handing Origami the crystal, her composure shattered. Her eyes brimmed with guilt and horror.
Nia, meanwhile, watched with analytical curiosity. Her Angel, Rasiel, could access nearly any information—except for the future itself. But this? This was different. To actually witness events across time… Shuo's power was far beyond anything she'd seen.
She shot him a glance, mind racing. Just who was this boy?
The white light faded.
Origami stood before them, transformed.
She wore a gown of pure white—a wedding dress, edged with golden embroidery. Above her floated a golden halo, veils of light trailing beneath it. Wings of radiant feathers unfurled from her back, glowing with ethereal energy.
She looked like a vision from legend—a holy angel incarnate.
Her new name: Angel of Extinction.
Origami opened her eyes, feeling the change inside and out.
"I… I'm a Spirit now?"
A wave of nausea threatened to overwhelm her. She bit down hard, forcing herself to stay focused.
She'd become the thing she hated most. But she couldn't afford to break—not yet.
Her mind raced. The crystal. The phantom.
Was that thing the one turning humans into Spirits?
Was it the real enemy—the one that took her parents?
Hatred surged, dark and overwhelming.
But before she could confront the phantom, it vanished, leaving her with nothing but questions.
One thing was clear:
She was a Spirit now. She had the power to fight Spirits.
"If… if that's really possible…"
Excitement flickered beneath the horror. She swallowed, then took to the sky, searching for one person.
She found her—Kurumi Tokisaki, the Nightmare.
Origami begged Kurumi to use her Zafkiel's Twelfth Bullet—time reversal—to send her back, to undo the disaster that had shaped her life.
Kurumi, after some persuasion, agreed.
A shot rang out. Origami's vision spun—and when it cleared, she was five years in the past, at the moment of the fire.
Just then, in the river of time, Shuo snapped his fingers. The world froze.
Origami and the others stared at him, confusion and dread mixing in their eyes.
"Origami, what comes next… it might be too much. It could break you."
"Are you sure you want to see it?"
Origami hesitated, uncertainty gnawing at her.
Kotori, Reine, Tohka, and the rest exchanged uneasy glances.
What could possibly be so devastating?
