Ever since the three factions inked their peace treaty, Shuo's life had slipped back into its familiar groove—teasing innocent girls, savoring the sweet chaos of his daily routine.
But today, something new was brewing. The system had unlocked a fresh function: world travel. For the first time, Shuo could step out of his DxD sandbox and explore other universes.
Staring at the system's glowing list of options, Shuo found himself hesitating.
Ding! Current host may select from the following worlds:
[Akame ga Kill]
[Date A Live]
[Trinity Seven]
[Strike the Blood]
"Just four choices, huh?" He frowned, indecision creeping in.
[Akame ga Kill]—Esdeath was the top dog, but even she only reached demon king class. The world's power ceiling was low. Nothing that grabbed him.
[Date A Live]—a battle harem, overflowing with spirit girls he'd be crazy to miss. Tempting, but maybe he should check the other two first.
[Trinity Seven] and [Strike the Blood]…
Combat-wise, Strike the Blood easily outclassed the first two. But in terms of sheer unpredictability, Trinity Seven was a fever dream—world-ending "Breakdown" events cropping up left and right, new realities born from chaos.
After some thought, Shuo made his choice. Strike the Blood. The girls there might get jealous, but not in the Rias-and-Akeno league of drama.
Plus, there was La Folia—the silver-haired beauty who was practically a harem manager. She'd smooth over any trouble with the other girls. A true blessing for a man in his position.
He'd considered Date A Live, sure. Who wouldn't want spirit girls falling into their arms? But jealousy ran deep there. One wrong move and Tohka could flip into spirit inversion mode, and that was a headache he didn't need.
So, spirit girls—maybe next time. Forgive me, okay?
Time moved at a crawl in DxD while he was away. He could pop back anytime, so there was nothing to worry about. Just in case, he layered Rias and the others with protective wards and a warning system. If anything happened, he'd know instantly.
No more stalling. Shuo locked in his choice.
A shimmer of light, and he vanished—gone in a heartbeat.
A flash of white atop a skyscraper. Shuo materialized, taking in his new surroundings.
So this was Itogami Island—the beating heart of Strike the Blood.
From his vantage point, the city sprawled below: a marvel of carbon fiber, resin, metal, and magic, floating on the ocean. Entirely artificial, yet pulsing with life.
"Man, it's hot." He wiped his brow. "I knew Itogami Island stayed above twenty degrees all year, but this sun is brutal."
A quick spell, and a cool breeze wrapped around him. Much better.
"System, pull up the map. Let's see who's worth checking in with—and where the story's at."
He scanned the interface, recalling the plot details as he eyed the mission markers.
"Only a handful of targets? That can't be right."
He raised an eyebrow, questioning the system.
Ding! Host's current strength makes low-tier sign-ins obsolete. Only main characters will trigger new missions.
That made sense. Shuo nodded, focusing on the big names.
First Primogenitor: [Forgotten War King]—Kai Juran Barada. Black-tier sign-in.
Second Primogenitor: [Eye of Extinction]—Eswalt Agiz. Black-tier sign-in.
Third Primogenitor: [Chaos Empress]—Gajda Kukokan. Black-tier sign-in.
Fourth Primogenitor: Nagisa Akatsuki. Black-tier sign-in.
"Wait, Nagisa? Kojou's little sister became the Fourth Primogenitor? Must be my arrival shaking things up."
A smile tugged at Shuo's lips. He'd always liked Kojou—the original protagonist. This twist meant less hassle for him.
"Still, the strongest in Strike the Blood only rate black-tier? That's a bit underwhelming. But I'll take it."
He shrugged, a touch of disappointment in his eyes.
Strike the Blood's power scale was solid, but nowhere near DxD's insanity. Here, the Primogenitors reigned supreme.
In ancient times, they were vampire ancestors—walking arsenals with magic to rival entire armies. Each commanded disaster-class Familiars and led legions of darkness, carving out night empires across three continents.
The three great Primogenitors were originally part of the heavenly pantheon—Cain's friends, cursed with immortality. Cain rewrote their souls, making them hosts for rampaging Familiars. Even if their brains were blown out or hearts pierced, they'd resurrect, doomed to eternal solitude.
The longer a vampire lived, the more emotion and desire they accumulated—and the stronger they became. The Primogenitors, as the oldest of their kind, had amassed power beyond comparison. Neither humans nor demons could match them.
Still, they weren't quick to start wars. After ages of conflict, the First Primogenitor pushed for peace, forging the Sanctuary Treaty between demons and humans. The three Primogenitors and the Treaty Organization kept each other in check.
Globally, four Primogenitors were recognized:
Eastern Europe's Night Empire—[War King Domain], First Primogenitor, Kai Juran Barada.
Western Asia's Night Empire—[Extinction Dynasty], Second Primogenitor, Eswalt Agiz.
Central America's Night Empire—[Chaos Realm], Third Primogenitor, Gajda Kukokan.
Nagisa Akatsuki had just ascended as the Fourth, but thanks to the Original's soul, she'd lost her memories.
The system had even set him up with a student identity—same class as Kojou.
"Figures. Can't escape going to school, no matter the world."
Standing atop the skyscraper, Shuo gave a wry smile.
"Well, time to stir things up a little."
