CHAPTER
Rafael couldn't concentrate.
His office suddenly felt too small and too quiet. He'd been signing documents, but every line blurred the moment he touched the paper.
Something tugged at him sharp and insistent like a thread knotted around his chest and pulling tighter with every passing second.
At first, he tried to ignore it.
He knew this feeling. His mind kept drifting towards his mates, towards Julian. At first he tried to dismiss it as just normally thinking about his mate.
But This was not mild.
A chill slid down Rafael's spine, and he felt his head throb.
He froze and his pulse stuttered.
The sensation sharpened, becoming a stabbing rush of panic that did not belong to him.
Julian.
Rafael shot to his feet.
The chair scraped back violently. He didn't even bother to push it in.
The next pull was worse agony, fear, pressure like Julian was suffocating, drowning in something Rafael couldn't see.
"Julian—" he breathed.
