"So, now what's your plan?" Greengrass asked. "I take it you don't want to just tell Potter, and especially Weasley, that his little sister is the one responsible for his best friend's petrification?"
"On the bright side, it's probably not her fault - Ginny seemed nice enough, and the Weasley's are the living definition of blood traitors. She'd have no reason to hate muggleborns. The diary is the cause of this."
"You think the diary's possessing her then?"
Blake nodded. "But I'm not sure how. If the diary can manifest a real Tom Riddle, or empower and possess Ginny like Voldemort did to Quirrell, we'll have trouble. But it's fine - I have a simple way we can deal with Ginny, while we deal with the Basilisk. Speaking of that - d'you mind if Kipler helps me fight the Basilisk?"
"Yes."
Blake frowned. "Why?"
"Because if Potter's with you, which I presume he will be, he'll definitely tell Dumbledore I got involved again. I don't want to push my luck any further."
Selfish, Blake thought. So it's fine if I risk my life for your fang, but you won't even get your house elf to help me?
"And besides, it's not like you need the help," Greengrass continued. "You already know how to kill it. You only want Kipler as an insurance or shield if things go wrong."
"Fine," Blake rolled his eyes, but he saw two people he needed to speak to. It's my lucky day apparently.
"I've got to go. Bye."
Blake abruptly left, leaving Greengrass feeling quite offended and confused.
"Harry! Ron!" he called.
The two Gryffindors turned around.
"Hi, Blake," Harry greeted him, sounding slightly disappointed. "Sorry, but we haven't-"
"I found out who it is," Blake said grimly, as the 2 Gryffindors eyes widened in shock and then glee.
"No way! Who is it?" Ron exclaimed. But seeing the look on Blake's face, the visible excitement from the pair died down.
"Let's go somewhere more private to talk about this. It's probably for the best."
/
"You're mental!" Ron shouted at Blake, apparently barely managing to prevent himself from hexing the Slytherin boy. He'd barely even said the words 'Ginny opened the Chamber' before Ron started swearing at him.
"Calm down, Ron, you haven't let me finish."
"Blake, I don't think Ginny would ever-"
"Harry, I said, let me finish, okay?"
"That's boll*cks!" Ron raged still. "You're-"
"Silencio!" Ron suddenly went mute. Seeing the outrage on the Gryffindor's faces, Blake spoke quickly.
"Ron, listen to me. I never said Ginny opened the Chamber intentionally, or that she's the Heir - she's being possessed, kind of like how Quirrell got possessed last year. Don't deny it - you've seen how she's been acting recently. Connor did too. And I got confirmation - remember how I mentioned the name Tom Riddle? Ginny's got a diary belonging to someone called 'T.M. Riddle'. Tell me that's a coincidence!"
Thank God, the Silencing charm worked, Blake thought as he cancelled the spell. First time I've used it, and apparently it's a tricky spell to do.
Ron was still red from his earlier hissy fit, but he spoke in a more controlled manner now.
"On the way to Hogwarts, Ginny made us turn back because she forgot her diary - we were 5 minutes away from the station, but she made us turn back anyway."
"And remember that she said she wanted to tell us something after Hermione and COnnor were petrified?" Harry inputted.
Blake nodded.
"That makes sense. Maybe the diary's addictive, like a drug. Ginny's a Weasley. Ron, you can say for sure that she's never had any external pureblood-agenda'd influences, right?"
Ron hurriedly nodded. "She would never do something like this!"
"Good - so right now, the working theory's that the diary's addictive, and Tom Riddle is possessing Ginny. It could be that by touching the diary, or when she reads or writes in the diary, she gets possessed. Or it could be like the Imperius Curse - it might just impose a set of instructions on her. We don't know for sure."
"And we can't steal the diary, because there's a chance that it might possess us?"
"Yeah - in the worst case scenario, the diary empowers the possessed person, like Quirrell was, and there's a fight that we'll almost definitely lose."
"Why don't we take it to the professors, then?"
"We don't need to," Blake replied. "I can kill the Basilisk, but I want support too. We'd also need someone to distract Ginny while we do though - distract her in a completely normal way, preferably with others. D'you see where I'm going with this?"
"You want me, and my brothers, to distract Ginny," Ron surmised. "While you and Harry go kill the Basilisk?"
"Exactly."
Ron looked down for a long time, before nodding at Harry.
"Okay. When are we doing this?"
Blake was impressed and thankful for Ron's maturity (even if he did have a child's tantrum before).
"As soon as you can get your brothers to help you, Ron."
"Okay then. I'll let you know."
"Perfect. I'm staying out here for a bit. I'll see you both later."
As the two made their way back to the castle, Blake finally let out a sigh of relief. I've finally got the end of this in sight, he thought.
He withdrew his wand. There was one thing that could kill a Basilisk effortlessly - the book had said so many times, and apparently Riddle knew that too. That's why he'd gotten Ginny to kill all of them in Hogwarts.
But ironically for a person that hates muggleborns, he didn't account for something, Blake thought with a grin.
Magic.
And so, the practice commenced.

The next week came, and finally, Harry and Ron approached Blake in the corridor after lunch one day.
"Me, Fred and George, and Percy are going to talk to Ginny tonight - I tried to convince them to do it tomorrow, but they wouldn't listen."
"No worries, Ron," Blake assured him. "Tonight's fine, did you agree on a time?"
"Yeah - 9pm on the dot."
"Perfect - Harry, use that Disillusionment Charm again, and meet me next to the bathroom at 9pm exactly. We'll do it then."
"Is it okay if I use an Invisibility cloak instead?" Harry asked.
"Where did you get- y'know what, sure," Blake said, not wanting to waste anymore time.
"9pm, outside Myrtle's bathroom. Got it?"
"Yeah."
"Yes."
"Okay - Ron, good luck. Remember, distract her, but don't make it obvious that you know. She cannot leave Gryffindor common room."
"I know," Ron said determinedly.
"Alright. I'll see you later then, hopefully, after the Basilisk's dead. We'll discuss what to do after. See you in a bit, Harry."
Blake turned and left quickly, hurrying to Myrtle's bathroom.
"Myrtle?" he called out quietly. As he guessed, the ghost girl immediately appeared in front of him.
"Blakey!" she cooed. "I've missed you!" Blake laughed for a second.
"Thanks, Myrtle - but I've got to let you know something, okay?"
"What is it?"
"Tonight, me and my friend are going to kill the monster that killed you, Myrtle."
Instantly, she started to make a fuss, but Blake quickly hushed her.
"Please, Myrtle, you can't tell a soul, or make a fuss - no one can know. You need to act normally, okay?"
"But, Blakey, it's dangerous!"
"I know, but if we don't do this, more people could get petrified or die, Myrtle."
"But-"
"Myrtle, listen to me," he said, his voice taking a harder edge that she hadn't heard before. "My brother - my little brother - has been petrified. I have to do this. Please listen to me."
Myrtle whimpered slightly, before nodding.
"Okay, Blakey. What do you want me to do?"
He smiled slightly.
"Nothing, Myrtle - all you need to do is act normal. Can you do that?"
She nodded tearfully (or as tearfully as a ghost could nod).
"Okay."
"Thanks, Myrtle. I'll see you later!"
Finally, it was time for the last thing Blake needed to do. He made his way up to the Owlery, despite being late for his Herbology lesson, and began to write a letter.
Dear Professor Dumbledore,
I've found the Heir. Here's what I'm going to do tonight…
