Chapter 337 - Chapter 337: Being a Chef

Chapter 337: Being a Chef

"Ah? Orochimaru became a rogue ninja?"

Uzumaki Kushina was greatly surprised. In her time, Orochimaru was still one of Konoha's Three Sannin, a highly respected figure in the village. Anyone who saw him would respectfully call him Lord Orochimaru.

Things were truly unpredictable. Had he really gone so far as to research human experimentation?

"Naruto, Sasuke, it's late. Get ready for bed."

Uchiha Mikoto came downstairs and, sure enough, saw Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto still playing games in the living room.

"Oh, oh, almost!"

"Kaa-san, just a moment!"

The two of them were fighting the final boss of a stage. Once they defeated it, they could save properly—perfect timing to end the game.

"Alright, just a little while then."

Mikoto glanced around but didn't see her husband. She assumed Uchiha Fugaku was either in the study or had already returned to their room.

She went upstairs to check and found him in the study as expected.

"Husband, I'm going to bed first."

"Alright, I'll be there in a bit."

In the middle of the night, Fugaku was awakened by the urge to use the bathroom. Still half-asleep, he fumbled in the darkness, turned right toward the bathroom, and pushed the door open—just in time to see Kushina standing up and pulling up her pants.

A flash of black crossed his vision, instantly clearing most of his drowsiness. He had already seen it in the backyard earlier that day, so he wasn't overly shocked. Calmly, he turned his wrist and closed the door again.

A few seconds later, the sound of flushing echoed from inside.

The door opened, and Kushina stepped out, her expression a little embarrassed.

"Sorry… I didn't do it on purpose. Why didn't you close the door?"

Fugaku rubbed his nose and replied.

It was precisely because she realized she hadn't closed the door—and had been seen by Fugaku again—that Kushina had no grounds to blame him.

After all, she was the one who hadn't shut the door.

Still, she hadn't expected Fugaku to come to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

"It's fine. I'm going back to my room."

She hurriedly said that and quickly left.

Fugaku cleared his throat, stood quietly at the door for a moment to let the smell dissipate, then went in to relieve himself.

The next morning, the family sat together for breakfast.

This time, aside from Uchiha Izumi, Uzumaki Kushina was also present.

The dining table was large enough; even with two more people, it was still spacious and comfortable.

"Mom, is the poached egg good?"

Naruto asked expectantly.

Kushina paused slightly. Izumi smiled and said,

"Aunt Kushina, the poached egg in your bowl was made by Naruto."

Kushina's eyes lit up immediately.

"Delicious! Of course it's delicious! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with a perfectly runny yolk—absolutely wonderful!"

"Hehe."

Naruto puffed up proudly.

"Aunt Mikoto, maybe I really have talent for cooking."

"Mm, not bad," Mikoto said with a smile.

"Naruto's egg-frying skills are very good. He learns quickly, and the presentation is excellent too."

For children, encouragement mattered most. Proper praise helped build confidence.

And Naruto's fried eggs were genuinely well made—this wasn't empty flattery.

"Naruto could definitely become a great chef in the future!"

Kushina smiled and gave him a thumbs-up.

Unexpectedly, Naruto shook his head firmly.

"I'm not becoming a chef. I want to be Hokage!"

Kushina froze for a moment, then smiled warmly.

He really was just like Minato in this regard.

"You? Hokage?"

Sasuke snorted playfully.

"Then it'd be better if I became one instead."

Naruto didn't take him seriously, assuming Sasuke was joking.

After all, Sasuke had never said he wanted to be Hokage before.

What Naruto didn't know was that although Sasuke had never voiced it, the thought had recently taken root in his heart—quietly buried, never spoken aloud.

"Is that so?"

Mikoto smiled gently.

"Naruto is amazing, but becoming Hokage requires learning many things. Your Uncle used to work very late before coming home—there's a lot to handle."

This, of course, was a lie.

Fugaku nearly laughed.

He had only been busy during the first few days after becoming the Fifth Hokage. Once authority was delegated, his days became extremely relaxed. He occasionally arrived late—but always left on time.

Among all Hokage in history, he might well have been the most laid-back.

But Naruto didn't know any of that, and he believed Mikoto completely.

His eyes burned with determination.

"Don't worry, Aunt Mikoto. I'll work hard!"

Mikoto nodded with satisfaction.

"You can use your gaming time to ask your Uncle for advice. As long as you study hard, Auntie believes you'll definitely become Hokage. When the time comes, your Uncle will even help campaign for you."

"Husband, how will the next Hokage selection be handled?"

Mikoto asked curiously.

The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, had ascended due to the will left by the Second Hokage.

The Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato, had been elected by the village's jōnin vote.

The Fifth Hokage, Uchiha Fugaku, had taken the position through a military coup.

As for the Sixth Hokage, Fugaku could directly designate the candidate—jōnin voting could even be skipped.

"I haven't decided yet,"

Fugaku replied casually.

"It'll probably be similar to before."

"Naruto, you really need to work hard."

Mikoto smiled slightly.

"Mm!"

Naruto nodded vigorously.

Sasuke didn't continue the discussion. He had always been the type to act rather than talk.

Who would become Hokage was still uncertain.

Everyone else assumed Sasuke was joking—only Uchiha Itachi looked at his younger brother in surprise.

He felt that Sasuke hadn't been joking at all.

How interesting.

Both of his younger brothers wanted to become Hokage.

But there could only be one Hokage.

In the end, it would depend on who was stronger.

As long as one of them reached the same level as their father, becoming Hokage would be inevitable.

Both younger brothers possessed exceptional talent, and both were sons of a Hokage.

Although Sasuke's Sharingan had not yet awakened, their family already possessed double Mangekyō Sharingan. Sasuke's talent would certainly not be inferior to his or his father's.

He would definitely awaken his eyes in the future—perhaps even his own Mangekyō Sharingan.

He merely lacked a suitable trigger.

Once Sasuke awakened his eyes, his strength would grow explosively.

As for Naruto—there was no need to mention it.

The Nine-Tails within him posed no threat and instead supplied him with chakra.

Naruto's natural physique already possessed enormous chakra reserves, and with the Nine-Tails added on top, his chakra output would be terrifying.

Under normal circumstances, he would never run out.

On top of that, Naruto's ninjutsu talent was also excellent—perhaps only slightly inferior to Ichikawa Ao.

But Ichikawa Ao was a true monster of talent.

As long as he had sufficient chakra, any ninjutsu he observed once could be replicated after only a few attempts.
