Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – The First Spirit Ring, Sausage Auction

Oscar's plan for his first spirit ability was to focus on recovery. In the original story, his first skill was already excellent—after eating his sausage, one could regain stamina, soul power, and even heal injuries for a period of time.

That alone was already extremely powerful. While its restorative effect might not match that of a specialized auxiliary-type soul master, the all-around recovery made it an incredibly strong first skill.

Moreover, as Oscar's strength increased, the ability's effectiveness would grow as well, essentially making it a skill that scaled endlessly with him.

After entering Star Dou Forest, Oscar voiced his idea. Zhao Wuji agreed immediately—it made sense, and the teachers had already discussed Oscar's possible spirit ring options before the trip.

With the goal clear, Zhao Wuji led Oscar toward areas where recovery-type soul beasts were likely to appear. He was quite familiar with the forest, having come here countless times for spirit rings.

And Oscar's luck was truly good. On a giant emerald tree about two hundred years old, Zhao Wuji spotted a four-hundred-thirty-year-old Blood Silkworm.

This soul beast was a perfect match for Oscar, and the age fit just right. Without hesitation, Zhao Wuji struck it down and tossed the dying creature before him.

Though it was over four hundred years old, the Blood Silkworm was less than thirty centimeters long—small for a soul beast.

Oscar drew a dagger from his robes. Without the slightest hesitation, he ended its life. This was survival of the fittest; there was no other choice.

A yellow spirit ring rose. Oscar's heart pounded wildly with excitement—he was about to become a soul master. A kind of power he had never experienced before would soon belong to him.

Sitting cross-legged and with Zhao Wuji guiding him step by step, Oscar's absorption went smoothly. After three hours, a bright yellow ring circled his body.

Exhaling deeply, Oscar stood up. He clenched his fists, marveling at the surging power within.

"So this is… being a soul master."

His spirit power waves spread outward unchecked—level twelve.

Zhao Wuji's eyes lit up with joy.

"Little Ao, your spirit power has already reached level twelve? As expected of an innate full spirit power genius!"

Oscar smiled. "It's all thanks to Teacher Zhao for finding me the perfect spirit ring. And my spirit ability is very strong as well."

Truthfully, if he hadn't only just transmigrated during his martial soul awakening—with no time to temper his body—he could have absorbed an even stronger ring. But even so, he was satisfied. The first spirit ring was too important to take risks with.

As for absorbing rings above one's limit—well, as long as he worked hard in the future, it wouldn't be a problem.

"So, tell me your spirit skill," Zhao Wuji said with curiosity.

Oscar nodded, activating his soul power. His yellow ring lit up, and in his hand appeared a sausage.

"First Spirit Ability: Super Recovery Sausage! After eating it, soul power, stamina, mental strength, and even injuries will continuously recover for a period of time. This comes from the Blood Silkworm's innate power."

He handed it to Zhao Wuji.

The vice dean ate it, closed his eyes, and carefully felt the effects. A delighted grin soon spread across his face.

"Little Ao—you are truly a genius!"

Oscar added, "But with my current soul power, I can only make about ten per day."

"Ten?!" Zhao Wuji was stunned.

Oscar chuckled.

Zhao Wuji rolled his eyes. "Do you think that's little? Ten whole Super Recovery Sausages—in a team, they'd be life-saving talismans!"

With the perfect first ring obtained, Oscar happily followed Zhao Wuji back. A week later, they returned to the academy.

To his surprise, his incantation for producing sausages wasn't as crude as in the original story. That alone made him happy—Oscar cared about his image, after all.

Back at Shrek, he threw himself into brutal training. During the following week, he tested his cultivation efficiency against Zhao Wuji's guidance, only to find that food-type soul masters had a harder time cultivating than others.

His progress was slower by nearly a third—meaning he had to put in that much more effort to keep up.

Oscar sought out Teacher Shao Xin, Shrek's other food-type master, for advice. At forty years old, Shao Xin was already at the sixty-seventh rank—a staggering achievement for a food-type auxiliary. His insights were invaluable.

And Shao Xin wasn't stingy at all—he openly shared every bit of his experience, and Oscar absorbed it like a sponge.

Still, Oscar never planned to remain only a food-type support. He knew clearly: if he wanted to carve his own path, mere support wasn't enough.

His daily routine settled into mornings filled with theory classes—though he knew the story, he hadn't formally studied this world's systems, so this was his chance to catch up. Afternoons were devoted to training his body and soul power.

Since Li Yusong was the only attack-type teacher at Shrek, Oscar had a heavy iron staff made and began learning staff techniques under him. While physical training came first, staff practice became his secondary focus.

He even thought about registering as a soul master to claim the monthly stipend of one gold coin. But Flender forbade it.

Innate full spirit power in a food-type auxiliary was too rare. Flender's selfishness showed—he didn't want Oscar's existence exposed to the Spirit Hall too soon. At least not until Oscar turned ten.

Oscar didn't mind. In truth, it protected him. If Spirit Hall took him away now, who knew what the future would hold?

It wasn't about staying loyal to Tang San—it was about survival. For now, the smartest choice was to let the story unfold as it had originally, step by step. If fortune favored him later, he could seize new opportunities then.

After all, even sticking to the old path, his future guaranteed him a godhood.

But Oscar still thought of ways to make money. If he couldn't collect the stipend, then why not… sell sausages?

Not as street snacks, like in the original, but at the auction house. His Super Recovery Sausages lasted seven days before spoiling—already longer than most food-type creations—and their effects surpassed many potions. Low-level soul masters would flock to them.

And with his growth, the shelf life would only increase.

So every day, Oscar made ten sausages, and Flender took them to the auction house. While their use was niche and not too effective for high-level masters, they still brought him a steady income each month.

Of course, Flender the profiteer wasn't about to let him keep it all. He charged ten gold coins monthly as "travel expenses." Oscar didn't complain—he simply declared that future tuition would be deducted from his auction earnings.

Flender also advised him not to auction too openly, since a soul master's abilities were considered their trump cards. But Oscar didn't care. These were only recovery sausages. Even if people knew, so what?

Besides, no one would imagine such powerful sausages were being made by a six-year-old boy. Unless Oscar deliberately exposed himself, he was safe.

Day by day, ten sausages became three hundred a month. Slowly but surely, Oscar began to grow wealthy.

Inspired, Shao Xin too began auctioning his own food-type spirit abilities—his "candy beans" that granted restoration. Unlike Oscar, Shao Xin was a Soul Emperor, and his creations were useful even for other Soul Emperors. His beans lasted from a month to three months, depending on the spirit skill.

With this new revenue stream, the once-poor Shrek Academy suddenly found itself flush with money, to Flender's endless delight.

Oscar couldn't help but be stunned. For soul masters, wasn't making money supposed to be easy? Then why had Shrek been so poor in the original story?

Maybe Shao Xin had simply never thought of selling his creations?

Oscar didn't dwell on it. He was no longer bound by the old Oscar's foolishness. He would use every advantage to strengthen himself and enjoy life to the fullest.

As for Shao Xin's sales, there was no real danger. The beans he sold were only ordinary restorative ones. His more powerful abilities remained hidden.

Still, news spread quickly. The sudden appearance of items that could aid even Soul Emperors caused a stir in Suotuo City's auction house. After all, something with that kind of effect had to come from at least a Soul Emperor.

Fortunately, Shao Xin had no enemies, and no one came after him.

All in all, thanks to Oscar's idea, Shrek Academy was finally growing prosperous.
