Synopsis
Something is brewing in the Land of Lords. People in high places are plotting. Sinister cultists are chanting. The angels are speaking. Puzzle pieces are falling into place for scheming liars and blessed saints alike. The coven watches on, too removed from humanity to stop the inevitable. All signs point towards the end of an era, for better or for worse. Can five losers manage to make a difference? This tale is a D&D-inspired series that follows five adventurers as they try to navigate the world around them. They deal with monsters of all types: inside themselves, wearing the skin of people, and literal man-eating monsters. Not one of them are perfect, not even close. They view the world differently, and their perspectives can alter how the story unfolds. Updates every Tuesday at 8 pm (EST).

Wherever You Are

Come in! Have a seat, friend. You look cold, come closer by the hearth. Those bones of yours look like they could use some warmth. I'll put the kettle on. Don't worry, it's your favorite. Settle in, settle in.

There we are. It looks like you have been through much. Don't worry, I won't ask you for the gory details, not if you aren't willing to share. No pressure from me. Plenty of stuff going on out there, I reckon. Here, have your drink. Don't be shy, plenty more where that came from.

If you'd like, you are welcome to rest here for as long as you wish. I know its not much, but I am happy to help. Perhaps you would like to hear a tale to pass the time? It is a long one, I will warn you. Yes? Excellent! I have been itching to tell this one. I do hope you enjoy it.

Now, where to begin?

Ah… likely from the beginning then. Oh! Before that, I should give you some information to help you understand this story first, yes? It would be rude not to.

The world of Azinara has seen many tales told. Some are old, from times of creation. Others are older, from even before times began. Some are of ruin and woe, others of triumph and victory. Tales of love, defeat, carnage, healing. The list goes on and on. As massive as the world of Azinara is, it is just as old. This plane seems never-ending, continents reaching farther and farther into the ether. The gods may know just how big it is, but they are not keen on sharing that information.

This tale begins in the western corner of the continent of Rumeris, in a place called The Land of Lords. It is an interesting setting set at an interesting time. Why is it called that? I would hate to spoil the story. All in due time, friend, all in due time. Just know that where it starts is called such. A small corner of a very big map. Of course, perspective matters here. This small corner is more than what many would see in several lifetimes.

The gods are real, I assure you. There is evidence abound for them, from divine miracles to horrendous events that shake the world. Look no further than the holy person who can cleanse maladies, or the cultist who summons the will of their dark lords. There are many of all shapes and sizes, strengths and weaknesses. They play a role in this story, as they do in many.

Magic is a great and powerful tool. Present in most things since creation, it has existed in various states throughout the eras. As with many tools, it has been used for many purposes. To cut, to cleanse. To reward, to punish. To destroy, to rebuild. It is something quite fascinating, if you would take my word for it.

What is this story about? Good question. I suppose I should give you a hint, but I would encourage you to let your imagination run free while I tell it to you. Not all stories are complete with just one listen.

This particular tale is about some adventurers. People who have gone through great trials to prove themselves and have come out on top. I simplified it greatly for you, but I am sure you are already starting to get a few ideas coursing through your head. You look like the intelligent sort.

I suppose that is enough pretense for now. The rest you will have to learn through the tale. Just sit back and relax, stare deep into the fire. Let your mind wander and enjoy.
