Chapter 23 - Weights

It's 2 week, now I'm back updating 🧐

—

"Y-you're friends with Yuu-kun?" After she stopped blushing, she immediately asked about my relationship with Yuu.

"Yeah, we quickly became friends due to our shared interests," I answered.

Yuika raised a brow at my answer. "What is that shared interest?"

"Curious aren't we? Yuika-san, is there something I should be aware of?" I decided to tease her for a bit.

Yuika quickly blushed and said. "T-that's nothing going on! Whatever your thinking is wrong otherwise!"

With how she reacted, it couldn't be more obvious. I thought, 'Damn, is this how teenagers act when in love?'

It was so easy to see when you're the spectator, it makes me wonder if I was like this before.

"Riiigght, I totally believe you 100%." My words were so thick in sarcasm that even an idiot would understand.

Her embarrassment got worse. Strangely, it was fun teasing someone like this; this made me wonder why those people with a spectator perspective enjoyed messing with people who are in love.

It was simply amusing, either way I don't want to continue embarrassing this girl anymore, because I'm afraid she might faint from too much blood in her head.

I'm not even exaggerating that her face was visibly red. "Anyway, our shared interest lies in anime."

Yuika somewhat calmed down. "Anime..? Isn't that what those otaku losers watch?"

Okay, I'm rooting for your love life but this is a capital offence for an otaku like me. I gave her a very deadpan expression. "You're talking to one of those 'losers' cousins."

"A-ah, I didn't mean you!"

"Really? That's your excuse? I'm starting to see why he won't look in your way.."

"No! It's not like that! O-or anything has to do with whatever you're thinking!" Yuika once again repeated her words.

I suddenly felt exhausted talking to this girl, this made me realize that this girl is a pure 'normie' to the bone.

How the heck she falls for a plain dude like Yuu is a mystery; this is like watching those slice-of-life anime where the popular girl in class falls for the most unpopular one in class.

But in this case, it's in real life. Suddenly being a love guru isn't fun anymore.

"You know what, you should start watching anime from now on, it's your choice frankly." I decided instead of helping the girls, I'll help my bro instead.

Less stress and something tolerable, I don't want to make my life more complicated than it already is.

Whether she would follow my instructions or not, it's up to her.

No matter, even if I won't interfere they'd end up together in a way or another. I just needed to prevent the cursed beach episode from ever happening.

Even now, it gives me trauma.

—

I surprisingly get along with my cousins, but sometimes they're too social for me to keep up. Maybe it's just my mental age, but it's exhausting having a conversation with a teenage girl whose topics I have no interest in listening to.

After I met with them, I went outside the private room. The place is now mostly empty as the majority of the guests have already left.

Only drunk adults were left, Yuu isn't here either. Probably at his grandfather's house which is right next to this household.

I needed some fresh air, so I went to the backyard of this house. I sat down on the floor while looking at the full moon above, times like this felt peaceful.

"Do you like the moon?"

I flinched as I didn't even notice this person making a sound, then my attention shifted toward this individual and my eyes widened. 'Why the hell is she still here?!'

This person was Hina Hongou, the person that I would like to avoid as long as possible, yet not long after meeting her. I have already met her twice.

With a forced smile, I replied. "I do, it's peaceful to look at it sometimes."

Regardless of my feelings toward this girl, I answered her with honesty.

I do like the moon; it's not something I try to hide. Then she sat right next to me without prior warning. "Weeell, the moon is pretty. It's natural for people to like it, but personally, I like the stars more than the moon."

'Yeah, no shit. With the star-like pupils you have, isn't that obvious already?' I thought sarcastically inside.

"Stars themselves are beautiful," I replied, but after waiting for a minute, there was no reply, and it was quite odd.

When I shifted my gaze toward her, my heart almost jumped out of my chest in fright as she got so close to my face, staring directly into my eyes with those eerie pupils of hers.

"You're strong."

I didn't reply, realizing that doing so is pointless to this girl. In a human standard, yes, I'm a superhuman.

But in the grand scheme of things, my strength isn't much.

"So?" I tried to deflect the topic, but unfortunately, she saw through it and bluntly stated.

"I want to fight you~ you know me right~? Not from school but from my past~?" Hina said while smiling eerily.

'I'm such an idiot, of course she would immediately realize that I recognize her, she might not look like it but this crazy girl is very smart.' I thought while sweating a bit.

I was now on her radar, and I didn't think I'd be able to get rid of her easily. I became a mark of her interest.

But regardless of her desire to fight me, she can't force me to do it. She has nothing on me, at least for now.

"I don't want to fight you, and yeah I know your past."

"Hmmmm~" Hina stared at me for a bit before pouting like a child refraining from playing with her favorite toy.

"Why noot? It's just a fight!"

"No." I refused, I'm unwilling to be her combat dummy and there's no benefit in me accepting.

Quite frankly, I'm physically stronger than her, faster also, but in terms of combat skill, experience, and talent, she's way ahead of me.

She's an apex fighter, someone who is at the very top of the pyramid.

"Is there a way for you to accept my challenge?" Hina got intimately closer to me, as if wanting to blend into my very skin.

I pushed her back, she's hot, but she's crazy as fuck, and I'm not really into sticking my dick into that. Probably.

"If I feel like it." I gave her a vague answer.

"Well, that answer is enough for now! Anyway, add me to your line account and not that alt account you gave to the rest of those girls." Hina smiles cheerfully.

How the fuck did she know that it's an alt account? How did she come up with that conclusion?

You know what? I'm too mentally exhausted to think about this matter.

Hina stayed with me for a while, before leaving to go back home, not without saying goodbye.

"Great just great
" I muttered to myself.

Later that night, I found out that she's in the same class as Yuika, and they were friends, which is why she got invited.

It's not surprising that psychopath is popular; she's good at blending in. Yuika seems unaware of her true nature.

And so by the end of this night, I've obtained a crazy psychopath stalker who wants to fight me.

—

I was back at home, and the first thing I did was sleep because I'm too mentally exhausted from today's events.

—

It was morning and I woke up in bed feeling good. I first went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, and after that, I exercised, even if it's pointless.

"I should probably buy some actual weights soon. Wait, does the group chat have training weights?" I checked, and it actually has training weights, but more importantly, I found something more useful.

It was this.

[ Gravity Ring Weight Ver.

Grade: Uncommon

Price: 500

Origin: Type 5 Civilization

Description: A ring that controls your own gravity at a maximum of x100 of your weight; it doesn't do anything aside from changing your own gravitational field within your body. ]

Without hesitation I bought it, and a ring appeared in my palm.

I wore it and followed the instructions on how to use it. Basically, the more you rotate the ring on the right side, the more it increases your gravity by x1; similarly, rotating it backward would reverse that.

Then I started experimenting with the gravity ring. First, I rotated it once, and I felt the weight increase, but I wasn't really struggling.

And so after rotating it 5 times, I finally felt the struggle. It was getting hard to move and breathe.

I felt the strain in my muscles already. I missed this kind of feeling, but then I failed to realize that my weight also skyrocketed due to the gravity, and the floor beneath couldn't take it anymore and was shattered, making a loud cracking noise below.

Thank god for the reinforced concrete below the floor, or else I would have fallen directly into the living room.

And as a result, everyone heard that I was now heading to my room.

This was going to be a pain in the ass to explain and this gave me a lesson that I shouldn't use my gravity ring anywhere inside the house.
