Chapter 28 - A Valuable Lesson

In contrast to Winter's words about regretting knowing her, it was the opposite as I definitely did enjoy knowing her.

Our conversation isn't anything serious or classified, it's mostly about her life in her high school academy days.

It was a fun topic to listen to and in return I told my own story, not Hiroki's but my own. Although just some pieces of it, nothing too important but enough got her a laugh or two from her.

And to make her laugh was an achievement of itself.

I definitely did not regret what I found out about her, then our conversation was cut off as Hikigaya spoke. "I'm done creating our official ID and background as long as we don't expose ourselves which I hope none of you are dumb enough to do, no one would be able to tell."

On the screen there were 3 different names, although there was no image yet.

"As you can see, there's no photo in our respective identity. The 3 names you see are individuals who existed but the government doesn't have any facial information about them, so we're using them so that we could 'exist' in this world, rather than making identity from scratch it's better to use unidentified individuals as this, less work and more secure." Hikigaya explained this point at the first undefined individual.

"Hiroki, this will be your identity in this world so memorize the name."

"Hiro Ishigawa?" I read the files of this individual and found out that he's nearly identical to me in terms of biological age, height, blood type and even description of this person's appearance although there's no actual photo but just a text.

Winter got close and leaned to the screen and said. "So this identity will be mine as I'm the only female in this party."

"That's correct." Hikigaya answered with a nod.

"Sophia Richter." Winter muttered the name, in the description this individual has a white hair, blue eyes and was supposed to become a teacher assistant but mysteriously disappeared when she was about to start working.

From this description alone, something was off about her disappearance but regardless they can't do anything about it and besides Winter will be using this person's identity from now on.

The fact that she went missing was a blessing by itself. It was because not many people have the same description as Winter.

Her appearance is just way too rare, even in this world filled with supernatural powers.

Then finally for Hikigaya's identity.

"Hitohito Tadano, really…?" I wasn't sure if it's deliberate but this name somehow fits Hikigaya.

"Got a problem with that name?" Hikigaya raised a brow in my direction.

"It reminds me of someone." That someone is the protagonist of another series.

Somewhat similar to Hikigaya in terms of appearance actually.

Hikigaya didn't push the issue and said. "Anyway, I need a photo of each of you as I'll be making it the face of these identities."

Then we took a photo together, the 3 identities that didn't have any facial information were now filled with ours.

Although we only took a single photo each individually, Hikigaya went far to generate countless images of us, using a realistic AI generator that he made specifically for this.

Even though we didn't really do those things from the ai generated photos, it looked like we did.

In fact it's so realistic that people from this world wouldn't realize that it's fake.

There's also an eerie fact that we just replaced these individuals with our own image, so basically we are the real ones now in the eyes of the government and they are the ones that are fake.

At that moment I realized that I can't absolutely piss off Hikigaya Hachiman because making an enemy of him wasn't just getting physical but also making your existence miserable as possible.

"Now that I've finished everything, we just have to get our ID's from a government agency nearby. Once we do that we could finally transfer to A.U as an exchange student and assistant teacher."

"Assistant teacher?" Winter knew that it was going to be her, but still asked anyway.

Hikigaya gave her a weird look and said, "You can't expect me to transfer you as a student right? You're pretty old-"

Then an ominous aura leaked out from Winter and with a strained smile she said. "I get it, so you better not say what you're about to because you don't want to find out the consequences."

Hikigaya hurriedly answered as his sense of danger was ringing madly. "O-of course!"

I let out a silent chuckle at their interaction. "Let's get our ID's right away."

"Yeah, let's go."

Finding the government agency was easy, but the waiting part was annoying, only after a few hours we finally managed to get our official ID's of this world.

"Now we finally have our own official ID's and are technically not a foreign immigrants anymore."

"By the way, I'm starving. Do you have any cash left?" I was tired of waiting for the ID's and now I'm starting to get hungry.

Winter was also hungry but didn't say anything but was looking intently at Hikigaya.

To our disappointment shook his head and answered. "Unfortunately no, I used it all to pay for our official ID's, I have no cash in hand."

But before we could express our disappointment, he continued. "But I made us separate bank accounts which have a lot of funds and we just need to go to a local bank to check-out."

I saw him smiling widely, which made me curious about how much exactly this 'fund' he was talking about.

"Just to be sure, how much was in our banks?"

Hikigaya smiled. "A billion yen each wired into our individual accounts."

Hearing that enormous amount of cash, my eyes widened. "The fuck?! How did you even get that kind of money? Without alerting the authorities no less!"

Hikigaya let out a clicking noise using his tongue. "Tsk, tsk. You underestimate the corruption of the government, I merely took a small portion of the money that they stole from the people. It's an amount that they wouldn't even notice, don't worry they won't trace that I took some of it."

I wasn't sure what to say at the moment, but he really is clever and I asked him something. "Did you also do the same thing in your world?"

"Cough."

That's all I need to know, it's obvious that he did the same, which to be fair if I had his hacking skills I would have done the same.

After that we went to a local bank and after knowing our identities the manager of the bank quickly gave us a warm welcome as we are VIPs.

With the amount of money we have, it's quite understandable.

A half hour later, we walked out with a black card and a million yen in cash.

Later that evening we decided to dine in a 3 star michelin restaurant, it wasn't an anonymous decision but because I asked them to.

Neither was interested in dining at a 3 star michelin restaurant, considering they had experienced dining in such a place multiple times.

I was the odd one out of them, but after knowing that I haven't experienced dining in such a restaurant they relented but not before saying.

"You'll regret it, trust me. They are good in

papers and media but in reality it's not different from any other restaurant aside from being overly fancy and overpriced."

Winter nodded at his statement. "I never really found any issues about such establishments when I was still an heiress, but after joining the military I realized that such fancy restaurants aren't practical or anything remotely good. Its only use is for showing off."

I ignored them as I'll be the one judging that, then when we arrived. I was quite nervous as this was my first time having to eat in such an establishment.

But that nervousness was replaced by irritation after my orders didn't arrive even after waiting for a quarter of an hour.

I looked at my companions and asked. "Is it normal to wait this long?"

"It depends, not all restaurants have the same speed." Hikigaya replied.

"True, that's why I recommend not eating in this kind of place especially when you're hungry. It's not very practical." Winter said.

Then at exactly 20 minutes of waiting, finally the dish we ordered arrived. I was expecting something filling as I'm seriously starving but to my disappointment this dish I thought was going to be a lot was barely even a snack.

Heck, the most protein in this table was the steak, but it's simply not enough.

In the end I did regret insisting to dine here, not because its food is bad in fact they were great, but the thing is. It's simply too little.

It was no wonder it's not practical, for you to eat in this place you shouldn't expect having to go out with your stomach full.

By the end of it, we were charged almost a half million, it's ridiculously overpriced and at the end of the day, we went to an all you can eat buffet there we truly had our fill.

Today, I learned a valuable lesson. Do not eat in a michelin restaurant if you want to fill your stomach as this kind of restaurant is more for the art and taste and little to do with having a proper meal.

And so the very next day, we finally managed to set foot inside U.A.

A/N: Finally the hunt begins.
