Luo Feng raised his hands that held the gun up.
Then he waited for the person to completely enter the room—
not just standing at the door.
With lightning speed,
he pressed the gun to his head while using another hand to grab his mouth,
also while using his leg to kick the door shut.
The person was a skinny young man whose eyes were startled.
Then his body began to shake as he registered the gun on his head.
He was both shocked and scared.
He tried to mumble words, but Luo Feng still had a death grip on his mouth.
Luo Feng glanced down at the bowl filled with white mush and some slimy vegetables.
It was obvious someone chewed their food then spat it into the bowl.
Heck, it might be a number of people.
Luo Feng sneered, and the person held at gunpoint trembled even more.
He wanted to beg for forgiveness, but Luo Feng didn't let him.
Luo Feng grabbed his face tightly at the mouth,
then moved the gun to the person's leg.
With a click, there was no sound, but the person that was seemingly shot let out a muffled groan.
He almost collapsed, and his tears were pouring down.
The gun also came with a silencer,
so there wasn't a single noise let out of the gun once Luo Feng fired a bullet.
"I ask and you answer," Luo Feng said, putting the gun back on his head.
The man nodded his head frantically.
"Did the people in charge go out to hunt?" Luo Feng asked.
The man nodded.
Luo Feng thought that he was lucky.
The gangster and the nobles, which served as the main battle force along with some other people, had left the apartment.
So now he had time to prepare.
"How many people are left?" Luo Feng asked.
The man thought about it for a second and raised both hands.
Meaning 10.
Then he put one hand down.
"15?" Luo Feng asked.
The man nodded his head.
Hmm, so half of the people in the base had gone out.
That's lucky.
Luo Feng pressed the trigger and a hole appeared in the man's head.
The kill was silent and swift, with no space for begging from his victim.
Luo Feng walked over the corpse and opened the door quietly.
He peeped through a slit and saw that there was no one in the hallway.
There were normally six people on each floor.
He was at the top floor with the gangster and that bitch as his neighbors,
along with those noble bastards that clung to the gangster.
They wanted to be closer to him so that they could easily torture him more.
According to the information received, then they should have gone with the hunting team.
So what was the laughter he heard from outside the door?
Hmm.
It was probably this dead bastard on the ground and someone else.
Did that person leave?
I doubt it.
So what was the person waiting for, and where had he gone to?
Luo Feng deduced for a while and could only come up with one answer:
Either he was too disgusted by the smell coming from the original owner,
or that dead bastard wanted to do something to him that required privacy.
That thought made Luo Feng wish he didn't kill the bastard so soon.
Sigh.
Well, he had bigger things to worry about.
Luo Feng wanted to quickly go down, but he suddenly thought of something.
Then he searched the dead guy for an object.
His phone.
Luo Feng grabbed the finger of the corpse and used it to unlock the phone.
Then he took the phone to the window and just stood there for five minutes.
After that, he tucked the phone in his pocket and left the room.
Luo Feng clutched the gun and began to walk slowly and quietly to the steps.
This was an old building without an elevator in it,
so one could only take steps.
Despite the advanced technology of this world,
they didn't have an elevator in a building.
That's just to show how corrupt and dirty the society is.
Luo Feng walked down the steps with his back to the wall.
Once he could hear the sounds of people talking, he paused.
It was evening time, and the people who were on night duty would usually have dinner around this time.
After the other hunting party returned, they would go out to search for food while some people kept watching.
Luo Feng heard the sound of three different people and their chewing sounds.
They seemed agitated about something.
He guessed they were all gathered together in the joint kitchen eating.
The building was designed in such a way that there were only three bedrooms—two people in each room.
One living room.
Two bathrooms.
And one kitchen plus dining room.
It was the same on each floor.
So each floor was given a ration for the three people to share.
Then they would gather in the kitchen on their floor to eat dinner.
There was a manager in charge of the whole building, making sure everyone stuck to the jobs they were given and for distributing rations.
There were obviously inconsistencies in the process of sharing.
For instance, there was a lack of female population in the building.
So the only females present would try to cling to a strong man or the manager himself.
But in truth, they were all sluts for the gangster.
He made sure that the females understood what type of place this was by making them sleep with him just to be allowed inside.
In exchange, if the gangster liked them, then they would receive more food.
Or if the girls could curry favor from the manager with their body in exchange for food.
The food was mostly swallowed by the gangster and Luo Feng's neighbors up top,
followed by the manager.
Then it was through stealing or dirty work that the remaining people would compete for more food.
The original owner was part of the losers of that fight.
Maybe that was why the original owner liked that green tea so much.
She would always give him food and swore that she didn't sleep with the gangster to get into the base.
The original owner believed her foolishly and wanted to protect her "purity" in such a dirty environment.
Luo Feng wanted to roll his eyes just thinking about it.
Well, at least he could give that poor fool a good revenge.
Luo Feng didn't go to the kitchen but listened.
"Are you sure they can save us?" a voice said shakily.
"They definitely will," another voice tried to sound confident, but the doubt in his voice was too obvious.
"How did these stupid zombies find us anyway?" the third voice said.
"Just throw that damn guy upstairs to them and we'll escape as a last resort," the first person spoke.
"Well, at least he'll be useful for once," the second voice cackled.
"Serves him right," the third voice said with a sneer.
Luo Feng's eyes didn't flicker at their words but calmly took out the phone he took from the corpse.
Then he pressed a button on the phone,
then slid it on the ground to the front of the kitchen.
He stood at the staircase wall waiting.
Soon screams erupted as the people in the kitchen tried to rush out.
They panicked and headed for the staircase, which was the only exit to other floors.
They were too flustered to even notice Luo Feng, who was on the steps before the ones they were on.
Luo Feng aimed the gun and shot all three of them dead.
They couldn't even utter a scream as the bullet quietly pierced their skulls.
Their bodies stumbled and rolled down the stairs.
Luckily, it takes two sets of steps to go to another floor,
so they didn't alarm the people on the 3rd floor.
Luo Feng walked down to the 4th floor and to the kitchen they were previously in.
He looked around and finally heard that familiar grunting sound.
He walked over to the phone that was kicked aside and pressed the stop button.
The hallway returned to silence except for the noises from the real zombies outside.
Luo Feng smiled as he walked away and approached the new bodies.
As expected, these people were cowards.
They were too cowardly to stand up for the innocent original owner who protected them fearlessly.
Instead they were jealous of him and shouted for him to be imprisoned.
This building was just a place full of scum.
Luo Feng placed the gun in his trousers and began to drag a corpse down.
It did take him some effort because this body was malnourished, but he managed to do it.
As expected, the people on the 3rd floor were also eating.
There was a female voice included this time, unlike the male-dominant 4th floor.
But Luo Feng didn't care in the slightest.
Instead, he hoisted up the corpse of a man and threw it down a set of steps.
The body landed with a thud right in front of the entrance to the floor.
Then he pressed play again and aimed the phone at the soft body of the corpse.
The phone bounced a bit but landed safely with a few scratches.
The people quickly ran out at the zombie noises and saw the bloody corpses on the ground.
Luo Feng was smart about it and threw the corpse face down so they didn't see the bullet hole.
Plus his gun used a small bullet, and they were obviously too scared to check the corpse closely.
Once they heard the noise and saw the dead body,
they tried to bolt down the stairs without taking a second look.
Luo Feng was waiting for that and shot each person as soon as they appeared at the steps.
Once again, the kill was silent and swift.
But unfortunately, the corpse made a loud bang as it landed on the metal floor.
Luo Feng rushed down the steps just as he heard people from the 2nd floor rushing up to investigate.
He threw the phone at the new faces, which startled them.
Not because someone threw a phone at them,
but because they heard multiple zombie noises rushing towards them.
They panicked and thought someone turned from the top floors.
They turned their backs just as Luo Feng approached the top of the steps in front of them.
Luo Feng used one hand to shoot two of them,
and the third person was thrown to the ground by the fallen bodies.
Luo Feng finished him off after he let out a scream.
Then Luo Feng rushed to the 1st floor.
He wasn't worried about them escaping because of the zombies outside—
zombies that they probably wanted to feed the original owner to, as bait if need be.
Luo Feng rushed down and fired bullets at the people fleeing to the door.
He realized there were actually six floors, and the ground floor was a reception.
He almost missed the chance to kill them himself because they looked so crazy as to try to open the door.
The zombies were clawing at the door but didn't try to force their way inside.
It seemed they thought it was impossible to break the door by force because it was locked.
The two fools who just died had forgotten that there were zombies outside,
but luckily they didn't open the door yet.
Luo Feng reached them just in time.
The zombies seemed frustrated at Luo Feng for stopping them.
But Luo Feng sneered and didn't do anything to the zombies.
After all, he still needed them to deal with the rest of the people coming.
Luo Feng waved at the agitated zombies and walked to the 3rd floor.
Then he went to the window at the opposite end of the corridor, which was facing the entrance.
His gun shone, then changed into a sniper rifle.
The gun in the newbie package was his most important weapon.
It could transform into any kind of gun, any type or model, with a thought.
And as everyone knows, guns are a standard weapon in the apocalypse, so it was the best weapon for a newbie.
Luo Feng got into position and aimed the rifle at the entrance.
Soon, the sound of a large vehicle could be heard.
It seemed that the rest of them were finally back.
