Chapter 17 - chapter seventeen.the viral mango

It all began with one video.Just one.

A two-minute clip that was never meant to leave the village.

But by the time anyone realized what had happened, "Rick Mango Man" had already become an internet legend.

The Speech of the Century

The day started like any other — too early, too loud, and too full of Rick.

He had decided to film an "official company announcement" for Rick & Haran Mango Enterprises.Nancy, naturally, declared herself Director of Cinematic Affairs.Yuna held the camera (her old phone).James was in charge of "production quality," which basically meant standing around and pretending to be serious.

"Quiet on set!" Nancy yelled, even though no one else was talking.

Rick stood on a wooden crate in front of the mango stand, wearing sunglasses and a bright yellow scarf. Behind him, the hand-painted company banner flapped in the breeze — spelling "MANGOE COMPONEY" as proudly as ever.

He raised one hand dramatically."People of Earth!" he began. "Do you crave sweetness? Do you dream of tropical glory? Then fear not—your salvation has arrived!"

Nancy whispered, "Give me passion, Rick!"

Rick pointed to the camera. "We don't sell just fruit! We sell feelings! We sell hope! We sell mangoes that heal broken hearts!"

James muttered, "And possibly give stomach aches."

Rick continued, voice booming. "Our mangoes have been kissed by the sun, blessed by goats, and approved by destiny!"

Yuna was shaking so hard from laughter that the camera tilted.

Then, just as Rick shouted, "Taste the future—taste the mango!", one of the goats wandered into frame, grabbed the scarf off his neck, and ran away with it.

Rick chased it, yelling, "Give me back my business uniform!"Nancy screamed, "Keep filming! It's gold!"And that, apparently, was how the legend began.

The Upload

That night, Nancy posted the video online with the caption:

"Meet Rick Mango Man – CEO, philosopher, and fruit whisperer 🍋😂 #MangoPower #GoatApproved"

She thought maybe a few friends would laugh. She was wrong.

By the next morning, the video had over 2 million views.

Comments flooded in:

"This man is my new life coach.""Goat deserves a raise.""I want 10 mangoes and a hug from Rick!"

The village was buzzing.Rick strutted through the square like a celebrity. "Ah, fame," he said. "Finally, the world recognizes genius."

Nancy was already printing shirts that said "Team Mango."Yuna just sighed, smiling. "We've created a monster."

James grinned. "At least he's a famous monster."

The Media Storm

Within a week, reporters started calling. One video crew even arrived from the city, expecting to find a major export company.Instead, they found Rick standing on the same crate, with goats as his "security team."

The reporter, trying not to laugh, said, "So, Mr. Rick, how many mangoes do you export per year?"

Rick blinked. "Ah yes, exportation metrics… highly classified."

Nancy jumped in. "We sell emotions, not numbers!"

Meanwhile, Yuna and James were in the background frantically arranging baskets to make the stand look "professional."

It didn't help that one of the goats tried to eat the microphone.

The Trouble with Fame

By evening, the fun started turning into chaos.Random tourists arrived wanting selfies with "The Mango Man."One even asked Rick to autograph a mango.

Then an email arrived.Ravi, the accountant, frowned as he read it aloud."It says here that someone in the city registered a fake company called Rick Mango Corporation and is selling cheap fruit under your name."

Rick's jaw dropped. "An impostor?!"

Yuna sighed. "This is what happens when you go viral."

Nancy, pacing dramatically, said, "This is war. A fruit war!"

James rubbed his temples. "Maybe we should just trademark the name."

Rick gasped. "Brilliant! From this day forward, no one shall steal our mango glory!"

The Heart of the Storm

While Rick and Nancy plotted "corporate defense strategies" involving slingshots and mango stickers, Yuna sat by the river that night, feeling oddly quiet.

James found her there. "You okay?"

She nodded. "It's funny, isn't it? How fast things change. Yesterday we were just villagers with a few crates of mangoes. Now people are talking about us like we're famous."

James sat beside her. "Fame doesn't change who you are. You're still you. Sweet, stubborn, and maybe the only person who can keep Rick from setting the goats on fire."

She laughed softly. "And you're still calm even when everything's ridiculous."

He smiled. "That's because ridiculous with you is my favorite kind."

Yuna's cheeks warmed. "You know, you could've said something cheesy like 'you're my favorite mango,' and it would've fit."

James grinned. "Too late. I'm saving that line for our wedding speech."

She laughed, heart fluttering. "You're impossible."

The Resolution

The next day, Ravi officially trademarked their company name.Rick, now "protected by the law," declared another global announcement — this time, a live stream.

"Friends and fans!" he proclaimed to the camera. "We are back, stronger, juicier, and more original than ever!"

Nancy held up a sign behind him:

"Support Local Mangoes – Say No to Fake Fruit!"

Rama passed by, shaking her head fondly. "At least they're not bored anymore."

The camera panned over Yuna and James, laughing together as they packed mangoes into baskets labeled '100% Genuine Madness.'

Epilogue: A Sweet Ending

The video went viral again — but this time, people loved not just Rick's antics, but the whole team.Articles called them "The Funniest Family Business in India."

Tourists came, yes, but they came to laugh, to help, to share stories. The mango stand became a symbol of joy — proof that even in chaos, laughter could build something real.

As the sun set behind the orchard, Yuna leaned against James and said, "Maybe we didn't build a business. Maybe we built a story."

James smiled. "A sweet one."

Rick, overhearing, shouted, "And profitable!"

Everyone burst into laughter — the kind that comes from love, friendship, and far too many mangoes
