"DXD: Infinite Loot System"Chapter 262: Introducing the Heroes
Cao Cao's offer was almost too good to be true. If Tenra joined them and claimed their Sacred Gears, his power would soar overnight. But he didn't even hesitate—his answer was still no.
Grand ideals might mean little to most, but for those at the top, they mattered. No matter how well a villain played his part, the world would never truly accept him. In the end, it led nowhere.
Besides, Tenra had responsibilities now—a family, a legitimate place in the world. Throwing all that away for a quick boost? That would be real stupidity.
"Tenra Kamiyo, you're special. If you have other terms, we can talk," Cao Cao pressed.
"Join us—Sacred Gears, women, even the entire Hero Faction at your disposal. We'll help you become the one and only human god in history!"
The deal was so sweet, anyone else might have wavered.
Asia, Renare, and the battle nuns were serene. Tenra was their master, their god. Whatever he chose, they'd follow.
Katerea's eyes gleamed with anticipation—ever the ambitious one, she secretly hoped Tenra would accept. If he used the Hero Faction's power to seize supremacy, her own ambitions could ride his coattails.
On the other side, Rossweisse and Kunou were tense, afraid Tenra might give in to temptation. If he did…
Amid all those hopes and worries, Tenra finally spoke, voice crisp:
"I already said no, Cao Cao. I'll take Sacred Gears myself. I'll win over women myself."
"Even if I want to be a god—"
"I don't need your help."
He grinned, unapologetic. The Hero Faction bristled, glaring at him.
Who did he think he was, turning down their leader's goodwill?
Katerea's disappointment was fleeting. For some reason, this stubborn Tenra seemed even more trustworthy—someone worth risking everything to follow.
Rossweisse and Kunou both let out long sighs of relief. Kunou, especially, looked at Tenra with newfound admiration.
Cao Cao shook his head, smiling with a mix of regret and excitement.
"Shame, really… But if we can't be allies, having you as a rival is just as thrilling!"
Rationally, he wanted Tenra on his side. But deep down, maybe he preferred the challenge.
Tenra chuckled. "I'll take that as a compliment."
Truthfully, he didn't dislike Cao Cao. Maybe even respected him a little.
But when it came time to fight, he wouldn't hold back.
"Tenra Kamiyo, we're about to begin the Great Red summoning experiment. If you want to save the Nine-Tailed Leader, come and stop us."
"Not so fast, Cao Cao. Aren't you going to introduce your team first?" Tenra shot back, grinning.
Cao Cao glanced at the hundreds behind him, looking momentarily exasperated.
"Too many. Introducing everyone would take forever."
"Just the strongest ones. Their powers, too. You see, we're outnumbered—and except for me, it's all women on my side. Think of it as a courtesy."
The Hero Faction and Tenra's girls stared at him, dumbfounded. Was this really happening?
Cao Cao blinked, then burst out laughing.
"Haha… Tenra Kamiyo, you really are something!"
"Alright, let's do this—"
He flicked his holy spear toward a robed young man standing nearby.
"This is Georg. Descendant of Faust, who made a pact with the legendary demon Mephistopheles. He wields the Longinus, Dimension Lost. You've seen what it can do."
Georg looked mortified, but nodded stiffly at Tenra's group.
Next, Cao Cao pointed to a white-haired man, swords bristling at his side.
"Siegfried. An artificial warrior, crafted by the Church from the genes of the hero Siegfried. He's got the subspecies Sacred Gear, Twice Critical, plus Gram and a handful of legendary demonic swords."
"His Sacred Gear's nothing special, but his swordsmanship is top-tier. In the Khaos Brigade, 'Holy King Arthur' and 'Demon Emperor Siegfried' are neck-and-neck. Your fallen angel should know firsthand."
Siegfried's face darkened at the public reveal, but he managed a stiff bow, resisting the urge to skewer Cao Cao then and there.
Cao Cao moved on, gesturing to a blonde beauty radiating holy energy.
"Jeanne d'Arc. Not a coincidence—she's the reincarnation of the famous Saint Joan of Arc. Her Sacred Gear is Blade Blacksmith. Tenra Kamiyo, you've got Sword Birth, right? Hers is the opposite."
Even from a distance, Jeanne's aura was unmistakable. Asia and Semilia's group gaped—Saint Joan, their idol, standing right before them.
Jeanne stepped forward, graceful and bold.
"Hehe… Forgive our leader. He's got the charisma of a conqueror, but sometimes he's a bit of a fool."
"I'm Jeanne d'Arc, inheritor of the saint's soul. Pleased to meet you."
Her gaze lingered on Tenra, playful.
"Red Dragon Emperor, I'm curious about you. If you ever change your mind and join us, maybe I'll be your girlfriend."
She winked, sending a jolt of electricity through the crowd.
Asia and Semilia could hardly believe it—this "bold big sister" was nothing like the saint they'd imagined. Tenra, feeling the shock, scratched his nose.
Some saint—she was a temptress!
Cao Cao shrugged. "Same soul as Saint Joan, but a new life means a new personality."
He pointed to a giant, easily over two meters tall.
"This is Heracles. Also a reincarnation—he's got the mythic hero's soul. His Sacred Gear is Variant Detonation. Every attack triggers an explosion."
"This big guy's all muscle, no brains. Use your head, and you'll be fine."
Cao Cao's honesty was almost touching. Heracles, called a musclehead by his leader, just grinned and flexed his fists, each the size of a sandbag.
"Cao Cao, I want to fight the Red Dragon Emperor. Let me have him."
"No way. Tenra Kamiyo is mine," Cao Cao shot back without hesitation.
He turned to Tenra again.
"There are others with decent strength, but that's enough introductions."
"Georg, start the experiment!"
"Understood!"
