Chapter 185 - Amazing Spider-Man, Conquering the Crowd

The special forces had been lying in wait, specifically targeting the Garfield Spider-Man. Their bullets weren't ordinary; they were stun rounds.

One shot was enough to send Spider-Man plummeting from the sky, crashing onto a taxi.

The surrounding special forces closed in.

At this point, Peter Parker's consciousness was fading. He could vaguely see his father-in-law, George, the police commissioner, walking towards him step by step, and then kneeling in front of him.

Just as Peter Parker was about to be unmasked, he suddenly snapped back to his senses, taking down the special forces.

"Put your hands on your head!"

At that moment, George raised his gun, aiming at Spider-Man, who froze.

Everyone watching the scene was startled by the sudden turn of events, their hearts clenching in their chests. They couldn't help but feel completely immersed in the moment.

They, the superheroes, were out there doing good deeds, but now they were being hunted by government agencies, ambushed by special forces. They all felt a surge of frustration.

Especially after watching Captain America: Civil War, they knew that part of the conflict stemmed from pressure from high-ranking government officials, who even wanted to deploy special forces to hunt them down.

All sorts of feelings welled up inside them, making them incredibly emotional.

It just felt so stifling. They were clearly saving the world, clearly protecting everyone, so why didn't anyone understand?

Gwen, in particular, felt this deeply. Even her own father, George Stacy, didn't support her as Spider-Woman. He had often spoken out in the media, calling superheroes like Spider-Woman a different kind of super-villain.

He believed they were undermining New York's legal system, and he had even stated several times that he wanted to arrest Spider-Woman.

This made Gwen feel even more frustrated, unable to reason with her father.

His views on justice were completely different from hers. He believed in the power of the law, in the power of the system, and thought that the existence of these superheroes was destroying the system and the law.

At that moment, a surge of grievances welled up.

The scene then showed George Stacy confronting Spider-Man. He finally saw Spider-Man's face, and it was his daughter Gwen's boyfriend, Peter Parker.

Peter Parker, seeing this, immediately said, "It went to the Osborn Group! Your daughter is there! You have to let me go!"

George believed him. He watched as Peter picked up the Spider-Man mask, shot out a web, and left.

"Don't shoot!"

George shouted when he saw a special forces member about to fire, but it was too late.

A shot had already hit Spider-Man. He stumbled onto the rooftop of a building. Everyone watching this scene felt a pang of sympathy. Even though it wasn't the Peter Parker from their world, seeing this Peter Parker, who was clearly trying to save someone, get shot by his own people was incredibly upsetting.

Seeing this, Tony Stark had only one thought: he needed to add bulletproof capabilities when making Spider-Man suits in the future.

What if that kid got shot?

He hadn't even realized he was already thinking about how to keep himself safe once the kid became Spider-Man.

The scene shifted to a helicopter, where the pilot was reporting what he'd seen.

"Paul, I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. I won't say I climbed up there recklessly, but whatever's behind the Osborn Industrial Tower, it's definitely not human, and it's incredibly strong!"

The camera showed a brief glimpse of Lizard Doctor. Even though it was just a fleeting look, the lizard-like figure was enough for everyone to realize it wasn't human.

Lizard Doctor!

Everyone suddenly remembered the Lizard Doctor mentioned in Lin Feng's diary. Without a doubt, this was the Lizard Doctor Lin Feng had spoken about.

Lin Feng had only mentioned two Lizard-Men: Professor Connors, who turned into Lizard Doctor, and Peter Parker, who mutated into a Lizard-Man.

Since Spider-Man Peter Parker existed, this could only be the Lizard Doctor.

"Speak of the devil," Toroi muttered under his breath.

At that moment, the lights in the Osborn Tower began to flicker. Lizard Doctor had forced his way inside, and Gwen immediately used her flames to trigger the building's fire suppression system, shutting the doors.

But the steel doors were no match for the monster. He advanced, step by step, into the lab.

Gwen hid in a compartment, holding her breath, but was instantly discovered. Lizard Doctor snatched the device from her grasp.

And Gwen recognized this Gwen. Wasn't this her from another parallel universe?

That meant the police commissioner who had led the special forces to hunt down Spider-Man was none other than her own father, George.

She felt a sudden wave of panic. She couldn't bear to imagine what would happen if, one day, her father led a raid against her and saw it was her.

The very thought was unbearable!

It looked like she needed to upgrade her suit. It needed to be both electricity-resistant and bulletproof. What would she do if she encountered a similar situation?

She was at a loss for what to do.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man was rapidly approaching Osborn Tower, intending to stop Lizard Doctor.

He slammed directly into a wall. The shot he'd taken earlier had posed a significant threat to him.

The Osborn Tower was too far away. He was giving it everything he had, but he couldn't keep up. Injured, his speed was hampered, and he was forced to limp as he crawled along the wall.

The situation was, to put it mildly, desperate.

Everyone now understood what Lin Feng meant in his diary when he wrote that Spider-Man was a lone warrior.

No help!

And to add insult to injury, he'd been stabbed in the back and seriously injured.

No one knew what the Lizard Doctor wanted to steal, but it was undoubtedly nothing good.

Everyone watching wished they could jump into the screen and help Garfield Spider-Man, but there was nothing they could do.

The scene shifted to a crane operator watching the news. The report was about Spider-Man heading to the Osborn Tower.

"Spider-Man appears to be on his way to the Osborn Tower, but it's unclear if he'll make it in time!"

At that moment, the crane worker also saw Spider-Man and remembered how Peter Parker had saved his child from almost drowning in the river.

He would never forget that, he had almost lost his child.

"That's him, the one who saved my kid on the bridge," he said.

"Toroi, they want us to leave!" another crane worker said. "Something bad is happening downtown!"

"Hey, are you still friends with Matthews?" the first crane worker asked. "The crane operator on Sixth Avenue!"

"Yeah!"

The second crane worker hadn't figured out what was going on.

"Get him on the phone!" the first crane worker said.

"The police are evacuating everyone, who cares about this?"

The second crane operator still didn't understand what was going on.

"Get me on the phone with him!" the crane operator said.

At this moment, no one anticipated that a group of seemingly insignificant crane operators would play such a crucial role at this critical juncture.

In the scene, Peter Parker was still rapidly leaping across the city blocks, accelerating frantically. He was running out of time and had to stop Lizard Doctor before he succeeded, or else all of New York would become a nation of Lizard-Men.

That outcome was terrifying.

But his injuries were hindering him. He slipped, missing his grip on the eaves and falling.

Immediately, everyone watching the scene couldn't help but feel worried. If he fell, even with Spider-Man's physique, it would be a disaster.

However, they immediately saw Spider-Man struggling to climb up, with countless cheering crowds below and crane after crane operating under orders.

This was a path laid out for Peter Parker, a path only he could take to reach Osborn Tower.

When Peter Parker finally struggled to the rooftop and saw the path before him, he fell silent for a moment, feeling a surge of encouragement and inner strength. He bandaged his wounds with webbing, then said, "Come on, Parker!"

Guided by the light of the helicopter, he ran forward step by step, then leaped off, only to find himself falling short, plummeting downwards instantly.

"No..."

Gwen cried out from off-screen, shocked that he'd missed this time. Falling from that height, even Spider-Man would be splattered into a bloody mess.

She could barely watch the scene.

The Avengers held their breaths, watching Peter Parker's desperate efforts to stop Lizard Doctor, and they all recognized the kid's determination in their hearts.

Unlike the mischievous kid at home, this young man was desperately trying to save the world, just as good as them, if not better.

However, in the next second, everyone saw Spider-Man clinging to the crane. At a critical moment, he was saved.

And the person who saved him was the crane operator, the same man whose drowning child he had saved on the bridge.

What goes around comes around!

Spider-Man had saved this father who was about to lose his child, and now, in a moment of crisis, it was this father, who had nearly lost his child, who saved Peter Parker.

His kindness was rewarded; not everyone was a heartless ingrate.

Below, countless people in the crowd cheered.
