The scene shifted, and even War Machine Rhodes joined in, but Mjolnir remained unmoved. He failed as well.
Next up was Bruce Banner, who also tried to lift Mjolnir, but he failed too.
Everyone had failed.
That left Captain Rogers, who was almost everyone's last hope.
Captain Rogers attempted to lift Mjolnir. Thor's expression subtly changed as he saw Mjolnir budge. He almost thought his Mjolnir was going to be lifted.
However, Captain Rogers immediately announced that he couldn't lift it, which eased Thor's mind.
But that was just what Thor thought in the scene. The people outside, combined with the contents of Lin Feng's previous diary, naturally saw clearly. It wasn't that he didn't lift it; he did lift it, but Captain Rogers didn't continue to apply force.
Thor's expression in Asgard instantly changed. He knew very well that with the properties of Mjolnir, you either picked it up or you didn't. It was a matter of magical law, not physical law. There was no situation where, if you were strong enough, you could barely lift it.
So, Captain Rogers could actually lift it. The only reason he didn't continue was to save face.
Then, what Lin Feng said before about people being able to lift Mjolnir, was it all true?
Was his Mjolnir still safe?
This was a disaster!
"Your future comrade is giving you face..." Odin said. "He is just an ordinary person. He can't possess divine power, nor does he have the right to lift Mjolnir. The only explanation is that he meets the criteria of my enchantment. He's a person of great righteousness, upright, and benevolent!"
Seeing this, Odin, the Allfather, roughly understood the problem. There were, ostensibly, only two ways to lift Mjolnir. The first was to possess his, Odin's, bloodline; it was determined by lineage. That's why Hela and Thor could lift Mjolnir; they followed this path.
Or, the current wielder of Mjolnir could open up the permissions, making it possible for others to lift it. It had nothing to do with strength; it was pure magic.
The other way was his enchantment, cast to test Thor. Anyone who met the qualifications could lift it; meaning anyone who possessed the qualities he hoped Thor would embody could lift it.
And this mortal appeared to possess those qualities.
He knew the standards he'd set were high, and few could likely meet them. It was a surprise, actually. If it were before, he might have tried to bring the person into Valhalla, to serve Asgard. But now, he didn't have the energy.
But Thor really felt like he was being cuckolded, even though it wasn't the right way to describe it. But the feeling was the same as being NTR'd.
He thought the Mjolnir belonged to him, but now, his ex-sister-in-law had appeared. And now, someone else could lift Mjolnir, making him look like an idiot, as if he had a green hat on his head.
At this moment, everyone from S.H.I.E.L.D. turned to Captain Rogers, even Tony Stark. They all looked at Captain Rogers, seemingly never expecting that he could lift Mjolnir. This was completely different from what they knew before.
"You can actually lift it... Then you must be able to wield the Power of Thor?" Hawkeye Barton said exaggeratedly. "Are you actually Odin's illegitimate son?"
"Barton, that joke isn't funny at all. I don't know what's going on either, but whether I can lift it or not doesn't matter," Captain Rogers didn't think it was something to be proud of.
Because in Lin Feng's diary, it said that he couldn't lift it on the surface but secretly practiced all kinds of moves. What did that mean? Didn't that make him look like a despicable person who said one thing but did another? He couldn't admit to that.
In the video, Tony Stark was still unwilling to accept it, saying, "There's something fishy here, definitely fishy. Is it because as long as you have Thor's fingerprints, you can lift Mjolnir?"
He still knew too little about the magical side of things. As far as he was concerned, wasn't this all just a load of nonsense?
"Hahahaha, that's a very interesting explanation!" Thor said with a confident air. "Actually, I have a simpler explanation!"
"None of you are worthy!"
Thor said very smugly, immediately eliciting a chorus of boos from the crowd.
But the scene hadn't ended yet; it was still playing. The screen darkened, and when it lit up again, a vast ruin appeared.
This ruin looked as though it had just been through a world war, with debris everywhere, a scene of utter desolation.
In the scene, Tony Stark, wearing his armor, was the first to regain consciousness. He kicked Captain Rogers, who was sleeping beside him, awake, saying, "Hey, wake up!"
Meanwhile, the Tony Stark watching the screen was staring intently at everything unfolding on the screen. He looked so old, like he was decades in the future.
Right now, he was still in his prime.
"Jarvis, create a model and simulate my appearance over time. Then compare it and estimate how many years it will take for me to look like that in the video," Tony Stark instructed.
Jarvis quickly provided a result: "Based on the data analysis, you will likely reach that level of aging within fifteen to twenty years."
"Fifteen to twenty years?" Tony Stark was taken aback. If he calculated based on that timeframe, then the time in the video should be at least 22 years from now, maybe even 25, or possibly as late as 29 or 30 years.
But this didn't align with the information he already knew.
Based on Spider-Man Peter Parker's university years, it should've been around 2017 to 2018, and he was already dead by then.
In other words, the video was from the year 2017 at the latest, or even earlier, like 2016.
In other words, it was only seven or eight years from now, and he looked twenty years older.
A person aging at a rate faster than normal, maybe even twice or three times as fast, could only mean that he had been extremely repressed and under immense pressure during that period.
That is to say, in the next seven or eight years, a lot, a lot, might happen. This includes his mansion being blown up, and even almost implicating Pepper Potts.
Besides that, he didn't know how many other things had happened for him to become so old in the video. But without a doubt, it must have been incredibly painful.
The others here were all intelligent people, and they immediately understood what the potential problems were.
Undoubtedly, in the next few years, this playboy, a man who had been successful and unrestrained his entire life, would encounter great setbacks and blows.
They all cast sympathetic glances at Tony Stark.
Tony Stark's mood was complex for a moment, and he didn't know what to say, so he could only shrug.
However, he was currently focusing more on himself in the video, looking at the design details of the armor he was wearing. Since it was his future design, there must be a reason for it, and the design after seven or eight years would definitely be much stronger than his current one.
In just half a year, his armor had already been updated and upgraded several times. He couldn't even imagine how much it could be iterated in the next seven or eight years.
If he could just borrow some design ideas from his future self, it would save him a lot of time.
In the video, Captain Rogers woke up from his coma and said to Tony Stark, "Well done!"
Tony Stark, covered in dust, picked up Captain Rogers' Vibranium Shield and said, "If you lose it again, I'm not giving it back."
Captain Rogers took the shield and looked around, seemingly confused. He was full of questions.
"What's going on?" Captain Rogers didn't seem to understand what had happened.
"You mess with time, time messes with you! You'll understand!" Tony Stark said something that sounded profound, but left the people watching the video feeling like Louis XVI, completely baffled.
After Tony Stark finished speaking, he pulled up Captain Rogers, and the two walked outside.
When they got outside, a fat figure was already waiting. He was looking outside coldly. It was none other than the Fat Thor.
He stared fixedly at the figure in the distance, his eyes filled with killing intent.
The entire area was already a wasteland; there were no landmarks left for those outside the screen to identify what had happened.
Thor outside the screen was a bit dumbfounded. What was going on?
How did he become Fat Thor?
He could hardly believe it, but that face was definitely his. There was no way to fake it. The fluctuations of divine power released through the video allowed him to confirm that it was indeed him.
But this Fat Thor's style was so different from his own. He was unkempt and disheveled.
Although he was a bit of a brute, he was, after all, of Asgardian royal blood. He was well-versed in basic etiquette and would never allow himself to appear like this in public; it would only bring shame to Asgard.
