Hazel's POV
"Lies!" Skyler shouted, her eyes wild with rage. "You're nothing but a liar and a traitor. You would do anything to get what you want, even if it meant betraying your own people."
"I'm not trying to fool anyone," I said, my voice even and calm. "I'm trying to tell the truth. If you're not willing to believe me, then that's on you. But I know what I've done, and I know what I stand for. I will not apologize for things that I didn't do."
I could see that my words were having an effect, and I felt a glimmer of hope. But then Noah spoke, and my heart sank. "It's true, Hazel," he said, his voice stern. "But you're a liar and a betrayer. I seriously hope you pay for what you've done."
I felt my heart break, and I looked at him indisbelief. "How could you believe her over me?"
