Evelyn's POV
It was all for nothing.
Everything we went through, the journey through the cursed forest, the desperate confrontation with Hilda, Lisa's death and resurrection, the ritual all of it.… meaningless. My chest felt hollow as my mind went back to Lisa. Her body was still alive, but she was gone, her soul replaced by that ancient witch's spirit. Hilda had taken over. My friend…. was gone. And it was all for nothing, cause I was still bonded with him, the beast, the demon wolf.
My knees felt weak, the cold dirt beneath me was the only thing grounding me to reality.
I felt Lucian's arms still around me, steady and firm, his scent faintly mixed with the coppery tang of blood. I pushed away from him, disgust clawing up my throat. "Don't touch me," I muttered, shaking off his grasp and forcing myself to stand. The world tilted slightly, dizziness washed over me, but I managed to steady myself.
