Frieren's love for treasure chests was unmatched.
The more ornate the chest, the more her imagination ran wild with what treasures could be hidden inside. That thrill was addictive.
Sure, she knew that half the time a chest held a trap or even a mimic, but come on—it wasn't like the lottery would spawn some "lottery monster," right?
With that thought, she confidently chose a ten-pull.
That was the power of having points to burn.
[System Notice: Group member Old Mage has performed a Ten-Pull Lottery.]
Staring at the notification, Frieren fell silent for a moment.
Then she smiled.
So what if it was only ten? She had enough points left for seven more ten-pulls!
[Lazy Angel: "It's been a while… why hasn't Frieren come back out yet?"]
Toxin:"Maybe she just got held up?"
Shut-in Angel:"She's a total NEET, what could possibly keep her busy?"
Hell's Blizzard:"Maybe she's still looking into the lottery system."
Shut-in Angel:"What's there to 'look into'? You hit the button, results pop out in a second. Honestly, I'm betting she just sank."
Toxin:"Sank? What do you mean?"
Shut-in Angel:"Think of it like this—Africans wanna sneak into Europe, right? If the boat sinks, that means the smuggling failed. Same logic: bad pull, you 'sank'."
Shut-in Angel:"And before anyone asks: Africans = dark-faced = unlucky. Europeans = fair-skinned = lucky as hell. That's all."
Hell's Blizzard:"Can't you say something nicer for once?"
Shut-in Angel:"I'd love to, but anyway—@Old Mage, you alive? Show us the damage."
Old Mage:"Screenshot.jpg."
Old Mage:"Screenshot.jpg. Screenshot.jpg. Screenshot.jpg. Screenshot.jpg."
Rosen tapped open the files.
Five screenshots. Each one a ten-pull.
The first four? Total trash. Nothing even close to "sky blue SSR rates," just pure despair.
In this system, rarity's color-coded:
N (Normal) = white
R (Rare) = gray
SR (Super Rare) = blue
SSR (Super Super Rare) = purple
UR (Ultra Rare) = gold
And in Frieren's case, forty pulls in—not even a single SR. Just endless white and gray junk.
The abilities? Technically useful, but so niche it barely mattered.
Only the last screenshot had something: one SSR and one SR.
SSR: Barrier Magic
SR: A laundry spell that removes stains without washing
Old Mage:"Pretty bad luck, but at least I got two spells. Could've been worse."
Shut-in Angel:"Worse? Bro, you just burned 5,000 points for a glorified dry-cleaning coupon."
Hell's Blizzard:"…Suddenly I don't feel like rolling anymore."
Old Mage:"Maybe it's not worth it, yeah. But honestly? I'm happy enough—new spells are always useful. Plus that laundry spell? Legendary-tier. Never washing clothes again."
Toxin:"Convenient, sure… but still feels like a scam."
Bad Woman:"Lottery's simple: if the one pulling is happy, that's all that matters."
Shut-in Angel:"Fine, anyone else gonna roll? @Shepherd, what about you? You had decent luck before. Seven thousand points, that's seven ten-pulls."
Shepherd:"Luck's fickle, but sure, I'll try."
Rosen, watching all this, hesitated.
He wasn't about to blow all 7,000 points at once. What if points were needed for something important later? Running out at the wrong moment would be humiliating.
[System Message: Group member "Shepherd" performed a ten-pull.]
Four rounds of results.
And unlike Frieren's disaster run, Shepherd's luck was insane. Nearly every batch had something SR or higher.
His pulls included:
"Heavenly Step" from Gabriel Dropout – A teleport-like skill that consumes divine energy. Success = instant movement to any chosen spot. Failure = only your clothes teleport.
"Curse Reversal Magic" from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End – A legendary spell that automatically reflects any curse. Magic theory can't explain it. Normal mages need over a century of study to master it.
"Control Devil's Power" from Chainsaw Man – The same terrifying domination ability. Lets you control anyone (or any devil) weaker than you—even the dead. Complete obedience, no resistance possible.
Rosen blinked. That one stood out.
Sure, it looked crazy strong—but compared to his own Kotodama (Word Spirit) power, it was kind of redundant.
The Control Devil could only command humans and devils. His Word Spirit could command anything: living, dead, or even natural phenomena. Storms, day and night, even the sun's rising and setting—eventually all under his sway.
Still, nice to have as a backup.
And last, "Instant Transmission" from One Punch Man. Technically not teleportation—just absurd speed that looks like it.
Not bad.
Screenshots posted to the chat.
The group went silent for five seconds. Then—explosion.
Shut-in Angel:"Hold the hell up—that's MY skill! Why's it showing up on your pulls?!"
"..."
