Chapter 18 - Knight in Shining Armor

Written by **EYRAM**

That day when she got home, the first thing she did was ask her dad to train her, in the way of the sword, like every other person she expected sparing and sword exchanges but her father first had her balance two huge stones at the same level in her hand. Seriously what sort of benefit could she get from this training.

"Dad, I thought we did not have time, you said that yourself so why are we wasting time doing such useless training"

"The first thing you need to learn is patience or everything else is useless, you can stop now if you want and prove to me, you're not resilient enough to go through with the rigorous training I planned for you"

While Serena underwent useless "training" Seraphina decided she was not going to be bested by her sister at what she did best, Serena was better than her in terms of grades, men, behavioral traits and even looks despite the fact that they were twins.

But she would never let her get one up on her when it came to her specialty combat, like a wild animal with no co-ordination whatsoever she lunged at the first bear she saw, it was totally larger than her and in the first encounter she was subdued.

Unnaturally pigmented luminous red blood seeping fresh from the claw marks on her arm she attacked again this time aiming for its belly filled with organs and soft flesh, its most vulnerable part.

Then it also scratched her face, at this time they were exchanging blows, going blow for blow, each getting hurt in the encounter, Seraphina was holding back not using a drop of her Dhampir strength as neither her eyes hair nor skin turned red.

The fight only got more hectic and at the end Seraphina was victorious, then exerting all her frustration she stepped on the bears guts and screamed, covered in blood, some natural and the rest her own.

She looked unrecognizable with most of her skin shredded, she looked battered and bruised.

Then she decided to go back home, but on the way from behind her, someone hit her in the head, and she lost consciousness.

Back at home, Serena moved from balancing rocks to counting grains of rice, then walking on thread. And finally, she had it when her father asked her to walk on hot coal

"You just don't want to actually train me, do you"

"Oh, we are just getting to the good part, go on, the coal would make you reach the limits of your speed and it gets cooler the longer you ran and your body would realize this and push its limits, just wait and watch so now run"

Serena took in a deep breath and made a break for it running at her top speed from start, feeling a burning sensation at her feet, but strangely it was bearable, her foot stayed on the ground for only a fraction of a second, and calculating the molecules of fire could not move at that speed.

Then soon she felt nothing at her feet, it was cooler, and nearing the end it was freezing cold. And finally at the end she was frozen to it. Then her father smiled

"You benefitted from this training more than any other student of mine; your starting speed was particularly appalling then it amped up very quicky but what shocks me is you were able to maintain your top speed even though it became too cold to move forward I think you are ready"

Serena smiled and donned the armor in her room, then took the sword and that was when she realized her sword was unmovable, then she said

"Dad, I've got a situation here" he chuckled and said,

"I knew you won't be able to carry it; I'll teach you the technique, you can't carry it because it's heavy but its shape gives you leverage by distributing the weight over your body and I'll teach you how to do it.

Then he guided her through the body postures and when she finally got it a high pitch scream escaped her, lips, she felt like her body was being pushed to the core of the earth, then jack guided her through breathing steps and finally she was able to hold it but she still could not move, and jack said

"You'll get better overtime, create a daily fitness routine for yourself, I won't always be around to train you, so, think if not for everything you did today, would you be able to wield that sword? that's it for today"

Then he left without giving her a chance to reply, she then thought, at least I have something else to distract me from Seraphina and her drama, and hanging on to that thought where was Seraphina?

That was when Jack also became worried, then off in the distance Seraphina woke up

*Where am I* she thought, and Serena heard it, then said

"Dad, she's somewhere in the woods, in a cave"

Then a wolf approached her, while she was practically in no condition to fight.

From the house Serena and Jack using her thoughts as reference quickly got to the location in question.

There when they arrived, they saw a wolf inch in pretty close then turned into a man, he was a werewolf.

Then he looked at the new arrivals, in nothing but his birthday suit.

"Oh my god, this in just too much" Serena turned around, then he turned back in to a wolf and growled at them, but there she saw it in Jack's eyes, remorse, guilt.

Then Serena knew saving her sister would be up to her, she decided not to use the sword since right now she was not capable of exerting its power fully, then attacked fiercely, with her claws, and before she could do a thing she was scratched mercilessly on her neck, and the last thing she heard before losing consciousness was

"So much for a knight in shining armor"
