Chapter 96 - Chapter 96. Because I Am the Most Special Among All Mages

"Sir, I absolutely have no ill intentions towards you! Please don't get me wrong!!"

"If my actions have bothered you, I hereby officially apologize!!"

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, in the director's office.

Charles apologized to Alaric.

He heard the dissatisfaction in Alaric's tone and knew that it was because his actions had affected Alaric and caused his displeasure.

Faced with such a person who can brutally beat monsters with his bare hands, Charles was not willing to make an enemy lightly.

Especially since the other party was also skilled in telepathic techniques that could protect against his mind control.

If Charles were to anger this man, he worried that there might be no one in the entire Xavier School who could be his match.

Unless Jean were allowed to unleash her full power, she might be able to fight.

But such a cost would mean the mental shackles he placed on Jean would also be broken due to the explosion of her strength.

What would happen then, Charles didn't even want to think about.

"Say, what do you want to know?" Alaric, seeing how polite Charles was, stopped being angry.

After all, a hand that is extended is not struck, and there was no hostile relationship between them.

"By the way, my name is Charles Xavier, may I ask your name, sir?"

"Alaric."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Alaric! Pardon my boldness, are you a mutant?"

"I'm not, but you can call me a mage," Alaric explained.

"A mage? A magician? Does that really exist in this world?" Charles frowned and pondered.

In his impression, so-called magicians only appeared in novels, legends, movies, and TV shows.

In reality, this was his first time meeting one.

But… why was Alaric, a mage, completely different from what he imagined a mage to be?

Aren't all mages physically weak, or white-bearded old men?

In the worst case, witches!

But Alaric had just beaten a huge monster barehanded without resistance, and you're telling me you're a mage!?

That's a bit much.

"In this world, there are your mutants, superheroes like Iron Man, and even Hulks and the Abomination you just saw, so why can't mages exist?"

"And you mutants are treated like monsters by humans because of various mutant abilities, which lead to various changes in the body, so you're forced to choose seclusion and hiding."

"What separates us from you is that the reason we are not known and actively hide from the world is because we do not want the world to interfere, so that we can better protect all of humanity and Earth from magical threats."

Said Alaric slowly.

Charles fell silent after hearing that.

When he heard the first sentence, Charles completely agreed, since mutants exist in this world, then mages aren't far-fetched.

After hearing the second sentence, Charles's face darkened even more, because Alaric was right and had even touched upon the most critical point.

One of the reasons why people fear mutants, besides their power and the potential threat they pose, is that due to their strange abilities, they often look different, and some are even terrifying.

Therefore, such mutants are hated, abandoned, and even captured from birth.

This has led many mutants to begin hating humans just to survive.

Among the five levels of mutants, only upon reaching the fourth level, alpha, do such obvious side effects not appear, like Charles and Magneto.

For the first three levels, there's no help; even Wolverine is ranked third level, along with Mystique and Beast.

Compared to that, Charles looked at Alaric with a bit of envy.

"Mr. Alaric seems to know us well?"

"I know a bit."

"Earlier, Mr. Alaric said that your mages exist to protect all of humanity, the whole Earth, from magical threats? Could you specifically say what kind of threat that is?"

Charles asked curiously.

"Do you know about hell, it's real, and in hell there are demons that constantly want to invade Earth, and we fight against those kinds of things."

Alaric revealed a little.

"What the hell!?"

Charles couldn't believe it!

If what Alaric said was true, then indeed, such things should not be revealed too much to people, so as not to cause panic.

At that moment, Charles completely agreed with that.

At the same time, he felt respect for the silent guardianship of the mages.

But…

"Mr. Alaric, since mages are unknown to the world, then you, Mr. Alaric, why…"

Charles looked at Alaric suspiciously, not understanding why Alaric was so high-profile and not afraid to reveal his identity at all.

"Because I am the most special among all mages," said Alaric seriously.

"The most powerful!?" Charles exclaimed.

"No."

"Then… are you the leader!?"

"Not that either."

"Could it be… you're a renegade!!"

It seemed that Charles had guessed the truth.

Only a traitor would ignore the rules of mages, be so open, and not fear exposure!

Maybe even out of hatred or similar reasons, he deliberately reveals the existence of mages to attract everyone's attention!

"What can I say, I'm a true mage!" Alaric looked at Charles with dissatisfaction.

Why do you people always first suspect someone of being a traitor when you doubt them!?

Same with Dormammu, the Vishanti also worry he'll betray them, and the Ancient One worries that darkness might corrupt him… Alaric firmly stands on the side of light!

"Then when you say you're special…"

"Because I can do the most among all mages."

Alaric's words silenced Charles.

You!

After such a long conversation, you just tell me you're the most disobedient, do whatever you want!?

He had him going in circles!

"Hehe, Mr. Alaric is joking," Charles smiled awkwardly.

"So, Alaric's telepathic abilities are actually a form of magic?"

"Yes, you could call it psychic magic."

"Can you show me how powerful magic is?" Charles looked at Alaric with expectation.

"Are you sure? I could even make you stand up."

"!!!"

Charles's heart pounded hard!

"Please, Mr. Alaric, help me!!"

Charles couldn't be more excited!

After years in a wheelchair, although his friend Erik put him in that state, Charles never hated him and calmly accepted his fate.

But that didn't mean he didn't want to stand!!

He also wanted to be like a normal person, to return to a time when he could walk!

So, when he found out that Alaric, who called himself a mage, could actually heal him, at that moment Charles would agree to any of Alaric's conditions!
