Chapter 48 - Gather up

"Take their weapons, and let's go!" Years passed, and the once-immature Ann had become increasingly steady through his training with the Dark Raven Guard.

It wasn't just The Saviors' location in the East District; camps in several other areas also saw miner slaves attacking armed overseers at the same time. However, not all camps were as smooth as the area Ann was in. While overseers who happened to be in the mine tunnels were successfully killed, those near the main road and camp platforms were not so fortunate.

The group of criminals in the West District practically paved a path with their own bodies for their fellow miners in other camps to launch their attacks. Hundreds, even thousands, of bodies pierced by laser guns lay outside each station, and the air was filled with the nauseating stench of roasted flesh.

"It was only at this moment that we truly recognized these criminals from the West District as members of Lycaeus's upper miners," the Dark Raven Guard's chronicler recorded in his post-event memoirs.

"Kill all these overseers, we need no prisoners!" Arendi, as the highest commander on the periphery, issued this cruel order. The miners had no time, nor the manpower or resources, to guard these deeply sinful overseers.

"Tear them apart! For our deceased relatives and friends!"

"I wish I could eat you bloodsucking lackeys alive!!!"

The Dark Raven Guards left some severely wounded or disarmed overseers behind and hurried to encircle the outskirts of the High Tower. The remaining injured overseers hadn't even had time to celebrate their survival when they saw groups of ragged miners, their eyes glowing red, surrounding them.

Stones, entrenching tools, power picks... countless mining tools of all kinds instantly transformed into deadly weapons, mercilessly unleashed upon these overseers who had exploited them for countless years. Some miners, filled with intense hatred, even lunged forward, savagely biting these overseers who had once trampled on them, oppressing them and acting tyrannically.

Lycaeus, which had been silent for centuries, truly erupted at this moment.

High Tower

"Is this the caliber of people at the bottom of the High Tower?" Saro Jin said indifferently after directly beheading Agamemnus with a single strike.

Saro Jin remembered clearly that when Swain sent him to deliver a message to the High Tower, he hadn't even met the person in charge of the supply point, let alone this important figure who controlled the fate of all overseers and the exchange of supplies on Lycaeus. Yet now, this once-unbeatable figure was as powerless as an ant he could casually crush. Saro Jin even dared to guarantee that he wasn't just holding back; he was practically letting loose a flood.

But if Agamemnus had the chance to speak, he would surely roar at Saro Jin, "If you're so capable, take off your master-crafted power armor!"

Yes, Corax had conveniently taken a set of master-crafted power armor from the Tower Lord's private vault, and one set was given to Saro Jin, making the already gifted Saro Jin even more lethal. Now, Saro Jin primarily operated alone on missions. It was simple: his teammates couldn't keep up with his pace, and those who could didn't need such an extraordinary team to deal with on Lycaeus. Acting alone, they could maximize their value.

"Next mission objective: destroy the defensive facilities deployed in the High Tower's middle section." Saro Jin crossed out Agamemnus's name in his personal notebook, then shifted his gaze to the next task.

Saro Jin didn't think the outer overseers would be much of a problem, but the defensive nodes deployed on the High Tower couldn't be dealt with just by the laser guns taken from armed overseers. This required Shadow Assassin to perform targeted clearances, or simply directly hostage the Tower Lord to gain supreme authority and shut down these armed platforms. Of course, Saro Jin wasn't the only one carrying out this mission. The High Tower covered such a vast area that Saro Jin alone, even if he ran himself ragged, couldn't resolve all the platforms by the time the Dark Raven Guards arrived. Above the High Tower's middle section, there were regular Kiavahr garrisons.

"Saro Jin, your speed is unexpectedly fast." Nekser was wiping blood from the short knife in his hand with a fancy handkerchief he'd taken from some unfortunate soul.

"How can I compare to Big Brother Nekser? You've already dealt with the heavy mortars and returned to the High Tower. I can't match your speed," Saro Jin replied with his usual humility.

"Let's go, speed up the progress of clearing the defensive nodes," Nekser said. The Dark Raven Guards had to wait for their signal before attacking from the areas where the defensive nodes were neutralized. Otherwise, with most of them dressed in nothing but coarse cloth, a single shell could wipe out the elites Corax and Swain had painstakingly trained over the years.

If that happened, why would Swain bother putting so much effort into Corax's endeavors? This place held countless formidable individuals and core members of the future Dark Raven Guard Legion. If all these people died, Swain would seriously consider giving up and simply sending a message to the Emperor: "Your son is in my hands." That would be more practical.

He wasn't Nameless, so he naturally wouldn't do something like drinking tea at full health and then wandering around recklessly when injured. At critical moments, if there was a strong ally to rely on, he would naturally do so. Moreover, Swain still had some questions to ask Huang Pizi. What exactly was that golden-wrapped, dark, murky thing inside him?

High Tower Middle Section

"This thing is way too over-spec, isn't it?" Swain squatted on a steel beam, looking at the three Sentinel walkers patrolling below, speaking with exasperation. No wonder so many uprisings failed before Corax's arrival. With these things around, how were the miners supposed to fight?

A Sentinel walker is a single-person, bipedal, all-terrain vehicle, typically used by mortal forces for mobile patrols in rugged terrain or for rapid fire deployment when encountering enemy attacks. This thing is a vehicle! Its thick armor and bulletproof glass in the cockpit—trying to penetrate them with standard laser guns? What a dream! It was as ridiculous as Danzo trying to stab Susano'o with a kunai.

Although the Sentinel walker's cockpit protection was inadequate, the equipment they carried was not easily dealt with. The Hunting Lance-class Sentinel walkers patrolling below, in addition to being equipped with a cluster laser gun and a laser cannon, also had one equipped with a Sentinel Chainsword. Two walkers were responsible for long-range fire output, and one walker was responsible for tearing apart any flesh and blood that dared to rush towards them.
