Chapter 4 - Fate or just me?

I don't know what's going on with me lately. Ever since I saw him… Jasper… I haven't been able to stop thinking about that moment. It keeps replaying in my head like a movie on loop. The way he looked, the blue shirt, those soft curls, and that little smile like he was lost in his own world—it just stuck with me.

I was lying on my bed, scrolling aimlessly and overthinking as usual, when I picked up my phone and texted Luna.

Freya: Heyyy.

She replied in just two or three minutes, like always.

Freya: I want you to do me a favour.

Luna: What is it, babe?

I hesitated a bit before sending the message.

Freya: You remember yesterday? That boy in the park—blue shirt, curly hair? I think his name is Jasper?

Luna: Yeah, I remember. What happened?

Freya: I want his social media account.

Luna: What?? Why?

Freya: Just want to do friendship, that's it.

Luna: Okay okay... but don't you dare hide things from me, she teased.

Freya: What do you mean? I replied, a little hesitant.

Luna: I saw something in your eyes when you looked at him yesterday. So, without even asking you, I went to him and asked for his social media account.

Freya: WHAT?! I replied, completely shocked.

Luna: Yuppp. Don't be overdramatic.

Freya: What did he say? I asked her hopefully.

Luna: He said he doesn't have any social media.

Freya: Oh okay…

My shoulders sank. Just like that, the only thread of hope I had to maybe connect with him—was gone.

I put my phone down, my heart feeling kind of heavy. I don't know why it affected me this much. I barely knew him… but still. I felt weirdly blank, like I lost something I never really had in the first place.

Just then i was still staring blankly at the wall when my phone buzzed again.

Luna: But I'll find a way to get it for you, babe. Promise.

A small smile slipped onto my face. That's Luna for you. Loud, nosy, a bit too extra—but always the best.

Freya: Thanks. Really. I typed, and I meant it.

I placed my phone aside again and lay back, hugging my pillow. My thoughts wandered back to Jasper. Did he even notice me? Did he see me looking at him? Did he feel something too—or was it all just in my head?

Maybe he'll come to the park again. Maybe fate's still working behind the scenes. Or maybe… I'll have to create my own chance.

But for now, I just let myself daydream. About that moment. That boy. That smile.

And all the what ifs that came with him.
