Chapter 3 - "The Apostle"

------

Inside the school, Matt was banging frantically on the window.

"Andrew! Andrew, come look! God's here!"

Andrew, with a shadowed expression, frowned but forced himself to open the window. The next moment, a blinding light slammed into his eyes. After the sharp discomfort faded, he stared dumbfounded at the sky.

"Holy fuck… is this world finally completely screwed?"

Inside a small white house, though night had fallen, the lights still burned bright. A nation's leader frowned deeply, eyes locked on the sudden strange celestial phenomenon above.

"Some kind of celestial weapon? Or has God truly descended?"

A sly smirk crept to his lips.

"No matter what it is, it belongs to the Eagle Nation!"

Even if God had really come, how many armies did He have against theirs?

The night exploded with noise—excited chatter, heated debates, cheers, even shouting wilder than at any party.

The blazing sun hung in the sky for what felt like forever.

Finally, the sun fell back, returning behind Baldr before quietly sinking into his body.

"This world... really has no supernaturals."

Baldr was the God of Light, born to command light itself. Even Marvel's Asgardian gods might be stronger, but light was his domain.

The destructive power and speed of light rivaled thunder, and its scope far surpassed lightning and the like. Its perception was just as sharp.

Baldr tested the world with his divine might. If any supernatural power existed here—even the slightest trace—he would instantly sense it. But there was nothing.

"Looks like that crystal is just a lab experiment, or maybe alien tech."

A tiny wave of disappointment flickered in Baldr's heart. The third-party origin was the least exciting. Whether lab-made or alien, it took away the mystery of that crystal.

"Oh well. After all, it's an entire world. That crystal was only part of the prize."

"Time to try plan B."

Baldr's original plan had been simple: if the crystal was valuable enough, this trip was worth it, and the rest didn't matter. Now that it wasn't, he'd have to squeeze benefits elsewhere.

Like... the faith of a whole world.

"I need a new identity. And a useful pawn to work with."

Three names flashed in his mind at once: Andrew, Matt, and a certain black man whose name he hadn't bothered to learn.

Andrew, one of the three main characters and later a villain, was highly gifted but had serious mental issues—prone to turning dark and even killing his best friend. A perfect villain pawn.

Matt, the overly pious type? Pass.

That black guy... Baldr hated black guys. Pass.

Suddenly Baldr looked up, sensing a rustling sound from afar.

"Quick! The divine artifact's last known location is just ahead!"

Baldr smiled faintly. "Not bad, they move fast—efficient. No wonder it's a whole nation behind this."

Thinking it over, the three main characters weren't really suitable as faith-test pawns. Maybe he needed a different angle.

"This land beneath my feet... is controlled by a financial empire."

A strange smile curled at the corner of Baldr's lips. His figure dimmed, then shattered into countless particles of light, vanishing without a trace in an instant.

Lake Sea Manor—the top estate of Eagle Nation, owned by the powerful Trump financial family.

Atop the manor, the family patriarch's favorite daughter, Ivanka Trump, stretched out her legs—longer than life itself—and sat poised, holding a glass of red wine, quietly gazing at the night below.

Her father, the family head, was shifting from businessman to politician. In the future, he might even reach the highest seat of power, leading their family to true greatness.

But the road ahead wasn't easy. This nation was ruled by capital, and while her family was strong, they faced serious pressure. Lately, Ivanka had been feeling restless.

"Maybe the family needs a new kind of support," ambition flickered in her beautiful eyes.

She knew her advantages—her scorching hot figure, and a reputation unlike other socialites, enough to land a powerful alliance for her family.

Love? Raised in this empire, she was pragmatic. That kind of fantasy was worthless.

Names of elite heirs ran through her mind as she sifted through potential matches.

Suddenly, an odd, out-of-place noise drifted into Ivanka's ears.

She frowned, about to scold the servants.

But then her expression changed.

So quiet! Weirdly quiet.

As the noise faded, it was like all sound disappeared. The entire Lake Sea Manor grew eerily silent.

Guided by some instinct, Ivanka looked toward the estate entrance.

At that moment, a man she hadn't noticed appeared. His gaze met hers.

A strange smile flickered on the mysterious man's lips.

Then, just as suddenly, the man vanished from sight.

Not walking away. Not a trick. He literally disappeared. Gone without a trace.

"What the hell was that? Who—or what—is he?"

"Some kind of magic? Or... supernatural power?"

A storm of questions swirled inside Ivanka.

Logic told her supernaturals couldn't exist here. Her family was high society—they'd have heard if there was anything like that.

But her heart screamed the opposite thought:

What if it was true?

Find him.

"Find him!" she whispered, compelled by a surge of urgency.

"Oh, you looking for me?"

A light, casual voice suddenly whispered in her ear.

Ivanka's whole body shuddered. She stiffened for a moment before slowly turning toward the voice.

There, occupying her seat, was the mysterious man, swirling her wine glass and looking at her with amusement.

One second... two... three...

Ivanka's voice trembled with a mix of awe and curiosity.

"Sir... who exactly are you?"

Baldr smiled lightly.

"You can call me... The Apostle."

Apostle.

Such a divine word—usually referring to a religious messenger. Some even took false titles like 'God's envoy.' The most famous was the Triune Savior—Jesus.

But this man wasn't some fake apostle claiming false power.

A chill flickered in Ivanka's heart, instantly replaced by intense eagerness.

Opportunity.

Her family—and herself—had a chance.

Forget being second generation. Nothing beats the scent of a true divine proxy!
