Chapter 1 - 1. Life Before Disaster...

This is the story of Oscar…

An orphan boy who had never seen his parents since birth, yet managed to handle himself very well. He lived in a Mumbai chawl called "Gandhi Chawl." Being an orphan had taken away his faith in God, so he had become an atheist. Oscar loved parkour — so much so that his house had more trophies and medals than actual furniture.

One day, while buying groceries from the market, his eyes caught something interesting at a shop…

Three people in panda costumes were selling free tickets.

Panda 1: "Come on, ma'am, take one. Who knows, maybe your number will be the lucky one."

Lady: "Oh no, I don't need it. If I were that lucky, I wouldn't even be here."

Oscar found this interesting and went up to the shop.

Oscar: "Umm… brother, what is this?"

All three panda men saw Oscar, moved all the other customers aside, and gave him the first chance.

Panda 1: "Come, sir, come. You don't have to do anything — just spin this wheel. If a golden-colored ball comes out, you'll win a 4-days, 3-nights trip to Paradise Island."

Oscar: "Really? Alright, I'll try."

Oscar spun the wheel with all his strength.

Panda 1: "Whoa, sir, not so hard! It'll break!"

And as soon as the wheel stopped…

A golden ball came out!

The panda men congratulated Oscar, and he too was happy. Everyone clapped for him.

Panda 1: "Sir, here you go… your flight is tomorrow at 12 noon. The address is written here — just reach there. Everything is free, so don't worry."

Oscar left the place.

Panda 1: "Phew… job done. Come on, pack this up."

Just then, an aunty from Oscar's own chawl came from behind and said,

Aunty: "Listen… I want to try it too."

Panda 1: "Sorry, ma'am, but the winner has already been chosen, so you can't spin it now."

Aunty: "Oh, come on! There must be some other prize left — let me try once."

Panda 1: "Please understand, ma'am. Don't touch the wheel. Listen to me."

Aunty: "What's the problem? Don't you understand? Let me do it once!"

The panda men removed their masks… and aunty was shocked when she saw their faces.

Panda 1 (in a heavy voice): "Hey, aunty… didn't you hear me the first time? Get lost from here."

Frightened, aunty ran straight home.

The panda men also left. But… what was on their faces that scared her so much?
