Chapter 157 - Chapter 157: Purple Heaven Divine Thunder! A Warning from the Laws of the World!

"Lexuan, Nannan, you two really pulled off something big this time!"

Xian Lin'er and Cai Meier arrived together. The aura of the Moon Goddess had clearly startled them, prompting them to come investigate personally.

"Elder Xian, Elder Cai!" Upon seeing the two, Zhang Lexuan immediately greeted them with respectful courtesy.

"What a pity," Cai Meier said with a trace of regret, "Lexuan and Nannan are too far apart in age. Otherwise, if the two of you entered the Continental Soul Master Tournament together, you would certainly astonish all soul masters across the land!"

"Meier, how narrow your perspective is," Xian Lin'er retorted. "Whether or not they participate in the tournament is secondary. The most important thing is that their martial soul fusion skill can become a new trump card for the academy! Whether it's Lexuan or Nannan, their talents already guarantee they will reach the Title Douluo level, or even become Super Douluo. When that happens, their martial soul fusion skill will surely be one of our academy's ultimate killing moves!"

"That's true enough. But if they want to reach the level of Title Douluo, they'll still need more than ten years of cultivation," Cai Meier said with a smile, her tone carrying both expectation and a hint of helplessness.

Zhu Ziyang and the others listened to the praises from Xian Lin'er and Cai Meier, all feeling the same sense of agreement. As the first group to face the martial soul fusion skill firsthand, they had the clearest understanding of its power.

Due to Jiang Nannan's soul power exhaustion, the day's training came to an end. After Zhu Ziyang escorted Jiang Nannan back to her dormitory, he returned to his own room.

He sat by the window, holding a thin book in his hand, reading attentively.

The book was titled The Ten Rarest Martial Souls on the Douluo Continent. It was written five thousand years ago and listed the ten rarest martial souls in the continent's history. Though the title might sound sensational, its contents were extremely authoritative — its author was none other than the Shrek Academy headmaster of that era.

Why was Zhu Ziyang reading this book now? Because it contained the most detailed records of the Light Goddess Butterfly.

"...Ranked third among the rarest martial souls on the continent — Light Goddess Butterfly.

The Light Goddess Butterfly is a beast-type martial soul, with a light attribute, and is considered a top-tier martial soul.

The Light Goddess Butterfly is the most beautiful butterfly-type soul beast on the continent, and one of the most stunning soul beasts in existence. Due to its extreme beauty, this martial soul only awakens in female soul masters, and the awakening rate is extremely low — less than ten percent.

This martial soul is non-hereditary, meaning it cannot be passed down through bloodlines, which makes it exceptionally rare. In all of history, only three soul masters have ever possessed the Light Goddess Butterfly: a certain empress of the Heaven Dou Empire, the wife of a Pope from Spirit Hall, and an unknown noblewoman — all three were unmatched beauties of their generation.

Legend has it that the Light Goddess Butterfly was the pet of the Goddess of Light, and thus possesses powerful light attributes. Its combat power is said to rival even that of a true dragon..."

"As I thought. I didn't remember wrong!" Zhu Ziyang murmured with a smirk slowly forming on his face. He was now nearly certain — that Wang Dong was a girl. Perhaps... her real name should be Wang Dong'er, or maybe Tang Dong'er.

Within the Undead Demiplane.

Zhu Ziyang stood face-to-face with Electrolux, gripping the Stillness Fate Ending Scythe. His eyes were narrowed, lips moving softly, as if chanting a spell. Electrolux watched with anticipation, eyes locked on Zhu Ziyang's movements.

The scythe drew a circle in the air. As Zhu Ziyang's chanting grew louder, arcane syllables condensed into energy sigils, lining the edge of the circle drawn by the scythe. Gray-white energy swirled at the tip of the blade, growing and spreading to fill the entire circle.

When the chant ended, a flash of light shone in Zhu Ziyang's eyes. He drove the scythe down forcefully into the ground.

A ghostly, deathly aura surged from beneath the earth. A skeletal hand stretched forth from a slowly rising gate.

Then, under Zhu Ziyang and Electrolux's intense gaze, a tall, white skeleton stepped out. It stood two meters high, wielding a bone blade and shield, its hollow skull lit with the blazing flame of a soul, and a fiery crystal beat like a heart in its chest.

This was an undead creature — a skeleton warrior.

"Master!" the skeleton knelt before Zhu Ziyang and addressed him in flawless Douluo Continent language.

"Yes!" Zhu Ziyang cried with excitement. He turned to Electrolux. "Teacher, I succeeded!"

"You did! You really did!" Electrolux was equally thrilled. "This means... you're ready to graduate! I'm so proud! That skeleton warrior is at the five-ring level — a Soul King! To succeed on your first summon... as expected of my student! Hahaha!"

But just as the joy reached its peak, something unexpected occurred.

The sky of the Undead Demiplane split open. A rift tore through it, revealing a mysterious void of gray darkness. Then — boom! A bolt of purple lightning descended from the void, accompanied by an aura of divine judgment. It struck the skeleton warrior directly, and in the blink of an eye, the Soul King-level undead was obliterated — not even a speck of ash remained.

"...What the—?!" Zhu Ziyang recoiled in shock. He could clearly feel the lightning's judgmental power — it wasn't a casual strike. It was a warning. He turned, wide-eyed, to Electrolux.

Electrolux was momentarily stunned, then gave a bitter smile. "Alas... Ziyang, I failed to consider the constraints of the world's laws. It seems necromantic summoning magic cannot be used on the Douluo Continent. That Purple Heaven Divine Thunder... was the warning."

"Huh?!" Zhu Ziyang's mouth fell open. He was both terrified and disappointed. "Teacher, you're saying... the laws of the Douluo Continent don't allow undead beings to appear?"

"You misunderstood me," Electrolux clarified. "What I meant was, the laws don't permit undead from the Douluo Continent's own underworld to appear in the mortal realm. But the creatures from the Undead Demiplane — my world — are not bound by those laws. However, it seems even those are not tolerated now. You can no longer use necromantic summoning here."

"I see..." Zhu Ziyang sighed, clearly disheartened. He had spent so long learning this craft, only to find he couldn't use it.

"Don't be discouraged," Electrolux consoled him. "Undead summoning was always just a supplementary tool for you. It's nice to have, but not necessary for your strength. And besides, this only limits summoning — I've taught you many other necromantic spells, haven't I?"

"Yes, Teacher." Zhu Ziyang nodded, feeling much better. Then, curiosity lit in his eyes. "Teacher... that lightning just now... what was it?"

"Purple Heaven Divine Thunder — the strongest thunder in existence," Electrolux replied solemnly. "It's formed by the purest essence of the Great Dao and the righteous will of heaven and earth. It serves as the enforcer of world law. Normally, it only appears when someone violates the fundamental rules of existence."

"Like what we just did?" Zhu Ziyang licked his dry lips.

"Exactly." Electrolux nodded helplessly. "It's said that even a single strike of the Purple Heaven Divine Thunder can annihilate a ninth-tier professional — what you call a Title Douluo. So we'd best stay obedient and avoid experimenting with necromantic summoning."

"I understand, Teacher!" Zhu Ziyang nodded repeatedly.

The fact that such thunder could easily destroy a Title Douluo deeply shocked him. Even without Electrolux's warning, he had no intention of summoning again. He cherished his life too much. At least until he became a god... he couldn't risk provoking that lightning again.

'If I become a god, maybe I can withstand the Purple Heaven Divine Thunder...' Zhu Ziyang thought, his mind drifting to that mysterious divine voice. It had been three or four months since that voice last appeared, but the memory of it still stirred his heart.
