Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Truth of History and Anyang Academy

After returning home and finishing breakfast, Zhu Ziyang sat down at his desk and—as usual—began reading.

The book before him was titled Divine Revelation of the Angel God.

This book dated back to the Church Era, approximately 13,000 years ago. It documented secrets and information about the royal family of the Spirit Hall.

Why was Zhu Ziyang suddenly reading such a book? The answer lay in the fragment of past-life memory embedded in his mind.

Last night, after the complete opening of his Sea of Consciousness, the once-blurry memories were jolted awake by his spiritual energy. Those hazy recollections had now been fully absorbed into his own consciousness. What he had previously seen vaguely now became his own memory.

Under the influence of these memories, Zhu Ziyang found himself overwhelmed with inexplicable disgust and disdain toward someone named Tang San. It was a strange emotion that left him puzzled. To get to the root of it, he delved into the memory and eventually found a book called Peerless Tang Sect. Even though he had never read it before, he was filled with a deep sense of emotional unease, clearly triggered by the memories of his past life.

After sorting through everything, he understood that his past-life contempt for Tang San stemmed entirely from the story told in that book. Curious to know more, he tried to recall its contents, but only found scattered fragments and one particularly vivid final scene.

Those fragments only mentioned a few names and incomplete events. But the ending image explained everything.

In that final scene: the army of the Sun-Moon Empire, numbering a million, stood before the gates of Shrek City. Suddenly, a divine figure worshipped across the continent descended and took a young child hostage. He used the child's life to threaten the child's mother and force her to withdraw the army.

That so-called divine figure… was Tang San. And the child was the young emperor of the Sun-Moon Empire. The mother was known as the Empress Wargod.

Zhu Ziyang wasn't sure whether that image was factual or not. But purely on an emotional level, threatening a mother by endangering her child was utterly vile. That kind of divine figure? What a joke. It was a disgusting tactic.

Based on that memory fragment, Zhu Ziyang began to suspect that Peerless Tang Sect might be a record of future events from this world. After all, elements such as the Tang Sect, Sun-Moon Empire, Shrek City, and Tang San himself all existed in current times.

The Sun-Moon Empire and Shrek City needed no introduction. One was one of the Four Great Empires and the birthplace of soul tools. The other was the location of the most prestigious academy on the continent—Shrek Academy. As for the Tang Sect, Zhu Ziyang remembered that some historical records did mention it. Once the number one sect on the continent, it was allegedly founded by the same god from a ten thousand years ago.

And that god, Tang San, was a name that echoed through the pages of every historical text.

Could it be that the Sea God so widely worshipped today—the so-called savior known as the Asura Douluo, Tang San—was, in truth, nothing but a hypocrite?

Zhu Ziyang's thirst for knowledge was ignited. Without hesitation, he began searching the library for ancient texts that detailed that turbulent age.

The more he discovered, the more curious he became.

A grin tugged at his lips, his eyes alight with excitement.

Half a month later.

It was the start of the school term. Zhu Changhe took Zhu Ziyang, Jiang Nannan, and two other village children to register at the Anyang City Primary Soul Master Academy.

As the only soul master academy in the city, Anyang Academy boasted the finest location and construction materials. In fact, the tallest building in the entire city was the academy's student dormitory.

This institution had long been a pet project for generations of city lords. Half of Anyang City's annual fiscal revenue went into funding the academy. The city lord typically served as headmaster, and the teachers were carefully selected from soul masters at or above the Soul Ancestor level.

Children admitted into the academy received six years of education. During this time, the school would help all qualifying students obtain soul rings—completely free of charge.

Thanks to such generous support, Anyang Academy routinely produced students who were accepted into renowned advanced academies like Heaven Soul Academy and Di'ao Academy.

Outside the academy gates, Liang Ying had already been waiting for quite a while. After handing the children over to her, Zhu Changhe turned to leave. As a closed institution, Anyang Academy did not allow outsiders to enter freely without the city lord's express permission. Liang Ying, however, was a teacher at the academy.

Before leaving, Zhu Changhe pulled Zhu Ziyang aside for a final word.

"Son, you're already a soul master now. You've always been smart, but your father still hopes you'll stay humble. Learn what you can at Anyang Academy—especially how to interact with others."

"I will, Dad," Zhu Ziyang replied dutifully. There was no point resisting.

"Of course," Zhu Changhe added, "don't waste too much time. Your main focus should still be on cultivation. Strive to become the first student from our city to be accepted into Shrek Academy!"

"I will," Zhu Ziyang repeated.

Seeing that there was nothing more to say, Zhu Changhe gave his son one last pat and let him go.

Liang Ying then led the four children to the registration area.

"Teacher Liang, what brings you here today?" the registrar asked, quickly standing when he spotted her.

"I'm here to enroll these kids," Liang Ying said with a smile, gesturing to the four children behind her.

"Oh! I see!" The staff member nodded with understanding.

The enrollment went smoothly. All four children had innate soul power and met the basic requirements. When it came time to pay the tuition—one gold soul coin per year—Liang Ying didn't hesitate. She paid all six years of Zhu Ziyang's tuition in one go.

She also paid for Jiang Nannan's tuition. In her heart, Jiang Nannan was already her future daughter-in-law. Besides, she was well aware of the Jiang family's financial situation. A single gold soul coin was too much for them. Without the money, Jiang Nannan would've been forced to become a working student—sharing cramped dorms and enduring subpar conditions. Liang Ying would never allow that.

After enrollment, she took the children to their dormitory in the tallest building in Anyang City—a four-story structure.

She sent the other two children off, then found an excuse to send Jiang Nannan away as well. Pulling Zhu Ziyang aside, she whispered conspiratorially.

"Mom, what are you doing?" Zhu Ziyang eyed her suspiciously.

"Ziyang, your mom pulled a few strings to get you and Nannan into the same dorm. Now go win her heart before graduation!" Her eyes gleamed with excitement.

"…" Zhu Ziyang froze. For a moment, he had no idea how to respond. Eventually, he managed to mutter, "Mom… we're only six years old…"

"So what?" Liang Ying dismissed it with a wave. "By the time you graduate, you'll be twelve. Don't forget—every uncle and elder in the village married by the time they were twelve or thirteen!"

Her voice grew more excited. "Ziyang, Nannan is such a wonderful girl. You absolutely can't miss your chance!"

"I'm leaving!" Zhu Ziyang couldn't take it anymore. If he stayed any longer, he feared the conversation might turn even more outrageous.

He turned and marched into the dorm building. Jiang Nannan, who had been nearby the whole time, immediately followed.

"What's there to be shy about?" Liang Ying grumbled, watching them go.

Muttering to herself, she finally walked away.
