As Daimon learned that the competition would begin in a week, he knew he had to act quickly. While searching the streets of the eastern city, he came across a man named Daren—another participant who offered to guide him to the registration area. With no better option, Daimon followed him, though his guard remained up.
Daren took him to a hidden underground chamber beneath the city's arena, where a preliminary test was held for anyone hoping to qualify. The rules were simple: defeat a *Warrior-rank soldier* clad in advanced armor using only your weapon—no aura, no skills.
Daren volunteered to go first. He carried a long battle axe—an uncommon choice among low-ranked fighters. Curious, Daimon asked his rank. Daren replied with a strange smile, "I don't have a fixed rank. My power rises the more serious I get." Daimon narrowed his eyes, intrigued by the anomaly.
The test began. The armored warrior struck first, launching Daren across the arena floor with a thunderous blow. The crowd assumed defeat. But then, Daren's aura shifted—his presence grew heavier, fiercer. With a sudden burst of speed, he vanished from sight and reappeared behind the warrior, landing a devastating blow that knocked the armored soldier out cold.
Gasps echoed across the chamber—except from Daimon, who stood motionless. His expression unreadable, he murmured to himself, "I wonder how long he would last against me..."
The ground quieted. Now, it was Daimon's turn to step into the ring.
