Chapter 889 - Chapter 889

Blade silently slid the UV gun back into its holster and sheathed his tungsten-steel longsword. He glanced at the tomb entrance that had been sealed shut completely, then at the bald man whose face was calm, like he'd just blown out a birthday candle.

For the first time, Blade felt that maybe his title of "Daywalker"… should be handed over to the man in front of him.

He opened his mouth as if to speak, but in the end he asked nothing. He only tugged his cap lower, and his figure melted into London's night.

Saitama watched Blade disappear, scratched his head, then looked at the tour guide, who was still pale with shock.

"Uh… can we go eat fish and chips now? I'm hungry."

The tour group members stared at Saitama as if they were looking at a god descending to earth…

…or something even worse.

Far beyond Earth's synchronous orbit, in the cold vacuum of space, a crisis that would decide the fate of the planet was unfolding.

It didn't come from some mighty alien empire.

It was a swarm of creatures driven only by the instinct to devour, with no reason or intelligence at all

Space locusts.

Their numbers were enough to crush all hope: a moving metallic nebula that blotted out the starlight, advancing straight toward the blue Earth. Each space locust was the size of a small spacecraft. Their shells weren't biological chitin, but a special cosmic metal that could absorb and reflect energy—durable enough to withstand humanity's strongest nuclear weapons without damage.

They fed on a planet's core energy.

Wherever they passed, worlds became dead rock.

Not long ago, the swarm had passed by the Moon. Now, through Earth's telescopes, huge irregular dark patches could be seen across the lunar surface, as if something had gnawed on it.

Because something had.

The locusts had devoured nearly one-third of the Moon's matter and energy.

Standing in front of this deathly nebula was a single radiant figure

Captain Marvel.

In Binary Mode, energy boiled around her like a humanoid star. She fired powerful beams again and again, each strike clearing out a small section of the swarm.

But the problem was…

They wouldn't die.

The space locusts that got hit were only blasted away by sheer momentum, or their shells would glow red for a moment—then they'd absorb part of the energy, recover, and rejoin the swarm.

Carol's attacks were like using a flamethrower against a real desert locust plague—she could scatter them temporarily, but she couldn't deliver a lethal blow.

Their numbers barely dropped at all.

The swarm kept pushing forward, relentless.

"Fury! Think of something! My energy attacks aren't doing enough! Their shells absorb energy!" Carol shouted through the comms. Even her full-power burst only stalled the vanguard for a brief moment.

Earth—S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier command center.

Fury's single eye stared at the massive screen showing that skin-crawling swarm. His expression was so dark it looked like it could drip.

Every conventional and unconventional method had proven useless.

Did they really have to sit and watch Earth follow the Moon's path?

Just then, a technician suddenly reported:

"Director! We detected that special energy signature again! The one that's appeared multiple times in New York, Washington, London, and elsewhere—he's now in… Japan?!"

Fury's eye lit up like he'd just grabbed the last straw keeping him from drowning.

"Lock onto him immediately! Activate the emergency spatial-transport protocol! I don't care what he's doing—teleport him right in front of the swarm's advance! Now! Right this second!"
