Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Forbidden Techniques in the Scroll

After lulling Kurenai Yuhi to sleep, Anya opened the recently copied Scroll of Seals.

He skipped over the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu, Bringer-of-Darkness Technique, Impure World Reincarnation Technique, and Flying Thunder God Technique, as he already knew these. What remained included the Mutually Multiplying Explosive Tags used in combination with Impure World Reincarnation Technique, the Cursed Seal, [Eight Branches Technique], and Life Gate. As for other unknown forbidden techniques, Anya simply gave up on them.

After finishing, Anya took a deep breath. He was now certain—Orochimaru in the anime must have also read the Scroll of Seals and modified its forbidden techniques. Just the [Eight Branches Technique] alone was monstrous; as long as chakra remained, it granted infinite regeneration and immortality. Once mastered, one could literally walk all over others. Of course, the conditions were too strict—just the requirement of injecting animal cells like those from snakes or birds was enough for Anya to give up.

Other techniques were clearly developed specifically to counter the Sharingan, such as the Bringer-of-Darkness Technique, Flying Thunder God, and Impure World Reincarnation Technique. It seemed The Second had clearly planned this out carefully—to restrict the Uchiha Clan.

Although he gained many forbidden techniques, most wouldn't benefit Anya much at his current stage. Still, two techniques caught his attention: one was the Mutually Multiplying Explosive Tags. If used well, this move would be unbeatable on the battlefield. The other was Life Gate—an extremely powerful defensive summoning technique. According to the scroll, the reason Life Gate was classified as a forbidden technique was similar to the Multiple Shadow Clone: it could theoretically summon infinitely, but at the cost of completely draining the user's chakra.

However, Anya currently had no money. The first explosive tag had to be bought, and unlike Konan, he wasn't wealthy. Second, without a summoning scroll, he couldn't draw the summoning formation, which also required money to purchase.

Man, no matter where you go, without money you can't take a single step forward!

After properly storing those forbidden techniques, Anya began studying genjutsu. Thanks to Red's teachings from last night, many previously confusing contents in the scroll now made perfect sense. Learning under a teacher was clearly not comparable to academy training in terms of efficiency.

He hadn't slept all night, devouring the scroll like a hungry man. Yawning and stretching, Anya splashed cold water onto his face. He'd never considered himself talented, so he believed only hard work could lead to success.

Approaching Kurenai Yuhi, it was the same routine again—carrying her out for breakfast. But after finishing their meal, she refused to let him carry her to school.

"Teacher Red, what's wrong?" he asked.

Kurenai Yuhi hesitated before replying, "My classmates saw us yesterday and laughed at me. Anyway, you can't carry me today."

"Hmm, I see," Anya thought for a moment. "Then what if I carry you until we're near the school and put you down so no one sees us? How about that?"

Tempted, Kurenai Yuhi nodded in agreement.

Cheerfully, the two walked toward the academy together. Just halfway there, Anya heard a whistling sound through the air and abruptly stopped—his feet froze as a stone zipped past him.

Kurenai Yuhi saw it too. She shouted at the boy who threw the stone, "Asuma, why did you throw a stone at us?"

Anya glanced at the little boy. So this was the Third's son? What a wild, over-the-top hairdo! He didn't inherit a single ounce of his dad's calmness or cool head.

Asuma placed his hands on his hips and pointed loudly at Anya, saying, "I wasn't throwing stones at you; I was throwing them at him! Why was he carrying you? Is he trying to take advantage of you?"

Man, kids grow up fast these days, huh? Anya inwardly found it amusing but remained silent on the surface, keeping his face aloof and cold.

True to form, Asuma became furious again and picked up another stone.

"You dare!" Red scolded sternly, "If you throw another stone, I'll tell the teacher. When Hokage-sama returns, let's see how he punishes you!"

As expected, Asuma dared not throw the stone after hearing Red's words. Feeling humiliated, he angrily threw the stone onto the ground and shouted, "I'm not afraid of him! One day, I'll leave Konoha anyway."

After saying this, Asuma ran off without looking back—an obvious truancy attempt.

Witnessing this scene, Red sighed like an adult and said, "Sigh, it's all because Hokage-sama is too busy. He hasn't had time to properly discipline him. Please don't take offense at him."

Anya turned around in surprise and looked at Red.

Being stared at made Red slightly embarrassed, so she reached out and turned his head away, asking, "Why are you staring at me like that?"

Anya said meaningfully, "Nothing much. It's just... I think I'm starting to like you more and more."

Riding on Anya's back, Red's heart suddenly pounded. Covering both ears with her hands, she shouted, "Stop talking nonsense! I'm not listening—just hurry up and take me to school!"

"Hahaha, then hold on tight. Here we go!" Anya sped up suddenly, kicking up dust behind him.

When they arrived at school, just as Red was preparing to enter, a bird cry came from above. Anya looked up and his expression immediately turned serious.

Noticing Anya's change, Red turned around and asked, "What's that?"

"A message hawk." Anya noticed the special mark of White Fang on the hawk's talon. Their peaceful time in the village was clearly about to end.

Red clearly understood its purpose too, speaking uncertainly, "Could this mean there's news coming back from the battlefield?"

"Most likely." Anya affirmed with a nod. He crouched down and pulled out a small bag, handing it to Red and saying, "I probably can't come pick you up tonight. This is the candy I bought for you during these days. Remember not to eat it all in one day—it'll cause tooth decay."

Tightly gripping the bag, Red reluctantly asked, "Are you really leaving already?"

"Yeah, off to the battlefield. See you later." Anya waved goodbye to Red with a smile before vanishing into thin air in a flash of blue smoke.

Looking at the empty space before her, Red felt as if something essential were missing from her heart—a painful emptiness. Poor girl, she didn't even realize yet that her young heart had been stolen.

Having returned to the Hokage's office, Anya knocked once.

"Come in."

Anya pushed open the door and walked inside, only to find Red carefully reading the newly delivered message, her face gradually showing delight.

Anya instantly understood—undoubtedly, the battle situation against the Rain Village had finally yielded results.

Sure enough, Red stood up laughing and said enthusiastically, "In the end, Rain Village has finally fallen to us. They've already withdrawn, and Sanshouo Hanzo, known as the Demigod, has bestowed the title of Konoha Sannin upon Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade. I'm guessing this name will soon shake the entire ninja world."

So that's how the Konoha Sannin came to be, thought Anya inwardly with a self-deprecating smile. Then he asked, "Lord Red, I saw my teacher White Fang's mark on the message. What did he say?"

As Red flipped it open, his happy expression suddenly darkened. For a moment, he remained silent.

Anya sensed something was off and pressed, "What's wrong?"

Red spoke slowly at last. "Although Tsunade and the other three emerged victorious, they barely won. Everyone sustained injuries and must return to the village to recover. Since you completed this logistics mission so well, the village has promoted you from Genin to Chunin. White Fang orders you to form a four-man squad and head to the Iwagakure battlefield."

A determined glint flickered in Anya's eyes as he replied firmly, "Yes, sir."

"Wait."

Red suddenly called him back.

Anya looked at him questioningly.

Smiling sincerely, Red said, "Come back alive."

Anya grinned confidently, "Count on it."
