Cherreads

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

I ate the last piece of the pizza I bought before heading to the bathroom to look at myself in the mirror.

"I look so chopped. What the hell," I said, then took off my glasses. I tied my hair with a red string and then left my room.

"It's so dark here in my apartment," I said lazily. What happened?

"Oh, that's right—I forgot to pay my electricity bills," I scoffed before taking my phone out of my pocket to turn on the flashlight.

"Kairi?" I yelled, calling my dog. He's my only roommate—my buddy.

He was on the street chasing a cat when suddenly... he got hit by a passing car. I ran as fast as I could and shouted,

"Kairi! No, no—my baby..." I cried while hugging him. What will I do now? I lost my reason for existing.

After burying my dog, I went straight to the store to buy a rope. I also bought makeup and contact lenses. To die pretty is a must.

On the way home, the rope in my bag felt weird. Heavy. Like I knew what I was about to do, but it didn't feel real. I wasn't crying—I just felt numb. Everything suddenly felt pointless. No more Kairi. No one waiting for me. What was the point of staying?

While I was preparing the rope for my suicide, I heard a cat. It came from my window—it was open.

The white-colored cat had a red collar around her neck. It reminded me of the red string I like to use to tie my hair.

I patted the cat for at least 30 minutes, remembering my Kairi. After petting it, I found myself going to the store to buy cat food. I didn't care if it was wasting my time—this cat saved my life.

I fed the cat. After feeding it, I gave it some water.

"Who's your owner, lil fella?" I asked. Who the heck would abandon this cutie patootie? But I think this cat is just lost.

I checked the cat's collar again, hoping to see a name tag with her name on it—and surprisingly, it did.

"Ami, huh?" Her name is as cute as her face! I wonder if her owner is nice to her?

I heard a knock on my door while hugging Ami. Who is this freak disturbing us?

I opened the door—and oh my gosh, did I just see the most attractive man? I think I did!

"Oh, hi. May I help you?" I asked, smiling at him.

"Hello. Sorry to disturb you, but my neighbor said that my cat is in here. I'm not sure," he said with a poker face. Cuteness overload!

He's so gorgeous it actually hurts. He has brown eyes, dark and very healthy hair. His nose is just... perfect. His lips are very cute and rosy, and his eyes looked tired—but it made him look even hotter. He was wearing a hoodie and shorts. Simple, but perfect for him. And he's probably around six feet tall.

"Ami? Oh yeah! She came through my window earlier, and she seemed hungry, so I gave her some cat food," I yapped, inviting him in so he could take Ami.

"I'm sorry if she was pestering you. She's cute, but she's a bit naughty," he said nonchalantly.

"Oh no, she actually... saved me," I whispered.

"Pardon?" he asked, confused.

"Oh, nothing! She actually made me happy, so don't worry," I laughed, then picked Ami up and handed her to him.

"Thanks for taking care of my cat. We'll get going now," he said with a nod, then left. He's so nonchalant—but I love it.

"Hell nah, do I have a crush on him?" I said while lying on my bed, thinking about that guy.

"Oh shoot, I forgot to ask his name!" I suddenly remembered. Why now that he's gone? Oh my gosh!

"You're so freaking dumb!" I yelled to myself. I was so distracted by his beauty that I forgot to ask his name. I hate this!
