"Hey, you there—are you a newborn demon?"
Seeing that the other party was ignoring him, Doma leaned his body to the other side and continued to greet him enthusiastically.
The demonic figure at the end of the alley turned around, still tearing at a bloody, severed arm with its mouth. It was a powerfully built demon with a ferocious face covered in strange, black, cracked patterns, and a pair of upward-spiraling, ox-like horns on its head.
"Huh? Is this area your territory?" the Horned Demon asked in a gruff voice, not stopping its meal. "I've never seen a demon that looks so much like a human. It's not a defective product, is it?"
"Wha—?!"
Doma blinked his rainbow eyes and covered his mouth with his right hand in disbelief.
"A defective product... that's so hurtful," he said, his eyebrows drooping in a deeply wounded expression.
Feeling that he had been sad for about the right amount of time, he instantly switched back to his carefree smile.
"Hey, it seems you're a demon from out of town?"
"Could I ask you to go somewhere else?"
"Doing whatever you want around here makes things very difficult for me, you know."
Doma fanned himself casually. Though his words were a complaint, his face remained smiling.
"I am a traveling gourmet," the Horned Demon grinned, picking up a head from the ground. "I'll stay here for a while and then leave..."
"So, you can scram. Don't disturb my meal!"
But Doma put on a surprised look and pointed at the head. "Oh my, are you eating one of my believers?"
His memory was excellent; once he saw someone, he never forgot. He had seen this girl at the temple three times, and she had confided in him about her unfortunate family. She was a very pitiable child.
"To be eaten just like that is truly too pitiful."
Doma showed a compassionate expression and, with great ceremony, shed two streams of tears.
"But you have also escaped the suffering of this life and have gone to the eternally happy paradise as you wished."
He spoke the comforting, formal words in a gentle and kind tone, just as he did when listening to his believers' confessions.
After fulfilling his duty as the Founder, Doma looked up at the demon before him. His expression was still compassionate, but his rainbow eyes were so clear they held not a trace of emotion.
"Hey, you're so mean, Your Excellency, eating my cute believer."
"You know, I've been holding back from eating her all this time," he said with a pout.
"You're so annoying!" the Horned Demon roared impatiently.
Seemingly compassionate, but with empty eyes. This guy's behavior was so bizarre it gave even a demon goosebumps.
"Speaking of which, I ate another person in the same clothes yesterday," the Horned Demon said arrogantly, holding up the head in his hand. "It seems they're your livestock?"
"I ate one here last night, and today another one just showed up..."
"She was delicious," it licked its lips.
It feels... subtly annoying.
Doma covered his mouth with his iron fan, his face gradually becoming expressionless.
"I know they are indeed very foolish~"
"But for Your Excellency to come uninvited and steal from someone else's house, isn't that also very impolite?"
With that, he suddenly swung his right arm, and beautiful ice crystals scattered from the golden fan in his hand.
"Blood Demon Art: Sprawling Lotus Vines."
Several ice vines with exquisite ice lotus flowers danced like snakes, binding the Horned Demon tightly.
"Are you looking to die?"
The Horned Demon bared its fangs. Without making any move, the ice vines on its body suddenly shattered, falling to the ground in glittering pieces.
"Eh?" Doma tilted his head in confusion.
At that moment, the Horned Demon stomped the ground and charged, swinging a fist at his head.
"The speed isn't that fast..."
Doma leaped aside with a light movement, avoiding the powerful blow. The Horned Demon's massive fist slammed into the wall behind him, which instantly filled with fine cracks and collapsed with a crash.
"Mmm, I see~" Doma smiled, covering his mouth with his fan, his voice still light and soft. "It shattered so evenly. It seems you're not relying on brute force. That's your Blood Demon Art, isn't it?"
"The ability to shatter anything you touch? That sounds very dangerous~"
As he spoke, he waved his fan, and countless sharp ice petals swept towards the opponent, interspersed with fine, mist-like ice crystals.
"Blood Demon Art: Falling Lotus Flowers."
It was a wide-range attack, nearly impossible to dodge. The Horned Demon was quickly overwhelmed by the massive number of petals. Although many ice petals shattered into fine crystals, before they broke, the razor-sharp petals would leave a gash on the opponent's body.
When the petals dispersed, the Horned Demon stood there in a sorry state, covered in deep and shallow bloody wounds, with one of its arms, which it had used to protect its face, severed.
"Blood Demon Art: Wintry Icicles."
Before his opponent could react, Doma swung his fan down sharply from above. A dozen sharp icicles plummeted from mid-air, pinning the Horned Demon to the ground.
"What's this? You're so weak," Doma muttered to himself, closing his fan and tapping it against his chin.
"Weak? Impossible... you bastard!"
Veins bulged on the Horned Demon's body. The icicles piercing it shattered one by one, and its severed right arm grew back.
"Huh? You still want to fight? You can't beat me, so let's not fight anymore~" Doma waved at the Horned Demon with a grin.
His emotions never lasted long. After the slight annoyance dissipated, he no longer wanted to fight.
However, the response he got was an even faster assault. The Horned Demon charged straight at him, fists clenched, cracking even the stone slabs on the ground with fine, uniform fissures.
Doma quickly leaped onto the eaves of a nearby house, looking down with a feigned expression of shock.
"So dangerous, so dangerous! I almost got hit~"
He said so, but his opponent's speed was no match for his own. Otherwise, he would have been a little more serious.
"Oh well, I'll let this child play with you."
Doma was getting bored, so he brought his fans together and summoned a Crystalline Divine Child.
The little ice doll was much more decisive than Doma. It used various Blood Demon Arts in succession, forcing the Horned Demon to flee and struggle to keep up.
Meanwhile, Doma jumped down from the eaves, strolled over to the murdered believer, picked up her head, placed it back on the body, and even carefully adjusted it to a nice angle.
"There, that's better. You're still beautiful, Miss," he comforted her in a gentle tone.
Mmm, I'm a bit squeamish about eating someone else's leftovers, so I'll pass.
Doma stood up. The battle on the other side was already over. The Horned Demon's head and limbs had been severed, and the Divine Child stood by, holding a pair of ice-crystal fans, mercilessly showering the opponent with ice crystals.
"Oh my, are you okay?" Doma looked down at the dismembered demon on the ground with a concerned expression.
"This child really doesn't know what it means to be gentle," he said, bending down to pat the little ice doll's head.
"How is this possible..." the Horned Demon's head rolled on the ground. "How could I be defeated by you!"
"I was recognized by that man, acknowledged as someone with the potential to join the Twelve Kizuki!"
"Really?" Doma covered his mouth with one hand, feigning surprise. "I'm so sorry for defeating you~"
"You must feel terrible, right? I didn't mean to do it~"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please forgive me~"
"Shut your damn mouth!!" the Horned Demon's voice cracked with rage. "You can't kill me! Let me go, and I'll leave right now!"
"That's right, I can't kill you," Doma said, licking his lips with a regretful expression.
Because that man did not allow demons to devour each other privately. Every demon contained the Demon King's blood, and eating them would be a great power boost, but unfortunately, it was forbidden. It was said that the Twelve Kizuki had the ability to directly kill lower-ranking demons, but he had never seen it.
"How boring. Oh well, time to hunt for food."
Doma recalled his Divine Child. He had only taken a few steps when he suddenly felt the ground beneath him give way.
A seemingly infinite city suddenly unfolded before his eyes.
