Chapter 40 - White Lies and Wedding Bells

"Funny how the same Lee Seo Jun who kept postponing a wedding is now rushing into one," Cha Hye smirked from behind her glass of champagne.

An Nari's hand froze mid-reach toward the wedding gown she'd set her eyes on. Her expression darkened.

"You better shut your mouth, Cha Hye. Don't forget, you're only still benefitting from this because of me. If it were up to me, your brother would rot in jail," she hissed, glaring at her.

Cha Hye narrowed her eyes, her patience waning. "You wouldn't want us to expose everything, Nari. If we go down, you lose the man you claim to love so much."

Unbeknownst to them, someone was listening. On the other side of the bridal store, Lee Yun Jun stood quietly with his girlfriend, Nam joo who was browsing the racks.

"Yun Jun," she called softly, pulling his attention back.

"Did you find something you like?" he asked, forcing a smile.

"Yes."

"Let's wrap up here, Nam joo. I have somewhere to be." His tone was colder than usual.

Nam joo watched him with curiosity. She'd grown used to his stoicism, but she could sense something was bothering him deeply.

Later that day, in his office, Lee Yun Jun called in his most trusted tech specialist.

"You sent for me, Mr. Lee?" the man asked, stepping in.

"Yes, Do Yoon. I need you to investigate how the internet first learned of Seo Jun's contract with Joon So Min,and how that document was leaked."

Do Yoon nodded. "Give me one day, sir."

Lee Yun Jun leaned back in his chair, frowning. He had never sat well with the chaos that followed Seo Jun's past breakup, and now, with the wedding approaching, something stank. An Nari's games had gone too far.

He picked up his phone and dialed.

"Yun Jun," Seo Jun answered, surprised.

"Getting married so fast, brother?" Yun Jun said coolly.

Seo Jun sighed. "So you know."

"Let's have dinner."

That evening, the brothers sat across from each other at one of Yun Jun's restaurants.

"Same chef?" Seo Jun asked quietly as he tasted the food.

"You mean Joon So Min's ex, Jung Hyun," Yun Jun replied casually, watching his brother's reaction. He wasn't disappointed.

Seo Jun raised his gaze. "He's doing well."

"Yes. His recipes have gone viral. He's built quite a name for himself."

Seo Jun nodded slightly, uninterested in Jung Hyun's rise.

Then Yun Jun's phone buzzed. Seeing Do Yoon's name, he excused himself to answer. A few seconds later, he returned, his face grave.

"Looks like there might not be a wedding after all, Seo Jun."

Seo Jun's head snapped up. "What happened?"

Wordlessly, Yun Jun handed him the phone.

Seo Jun scrolled through photos of confidential documents, familiar files, stolen during the scandal and then messages, wire transfers, names.

"It's all here. An Nari's father worked with Kang Seung to orchestrate your breakup with So Min. The stolen contract, the media scandal, the manipulated outrage... It was them. All of it."

Seo Jun's face drained of color. The room went quiet.

"They plan to marry you, then divorce you and take half the company shares," Yun Jun added. "It was never about love."

Seo Jun gritted his teeth. "She drugged me with sympathy. I defended her... while So Min suffered."

He picked up his phone and dialed So Min's number.

Yun Jun placed a hand on his brother's shoulder. "Let's deal with the A family...together."

Meanwhile...the wedding day arrived

"You look stunning, Nari," an influencer cooed, adjusting the hem of her dress.

Nari smiled proudly in the mirror. Her white gown shimmered under the golden lights, the diamonds on her neck and ears glowing like fire. This was her moment. The same girls who once doubted her now watched in envy.

"Yes. That's why my husband loves me dearly," she said, her voice dripping with arrogance.

A knock.

"Nari, it's time," her mother said, entering the room.

Cha Hye stood nearby with a fake smile. "Let's go, then."

Outside, Mr. An waited in a tailored suit. Nari looped her hand around his arm and beamed.

"Ready?" he asked under his breath.

"More than ever," she grinned.

The wedding hall was packed. Reporters, celebrities, influencers, all waiting for the couple of the year. As An Nari stepped into the aisle, she saw Lee Seo Jun standing at the altar with a calm smile.

But then... her eyes landed on Joon So Min seated among the guests.

Her smile faltered.

What is she doing here?

She locked eyes with So Min, who remained poised, unreadable. The nerve of that girl...

Nari regained her composure and continued walking.

"You look good, honey," she said sweetly when she reached him.

The priest began.

"Do you, An Nari, take Lee Seo Jun to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?"

"I do," An Nari said eagerly, her voice clear and proud.
