Chapter 41 - The Vow That Shattered

{KOREAN-ENGLISH}

The priest turned to lee seo Jun

"Do you, Lee Seo Jun, take An Nari to be your lawful wife? Do you promise to be faithful to her in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love and to honor her all the days of your life?"

The priest's voice rang clearly through the ceremony hall, but Lee Seo Jun remained silent.

Everyone stared.

Then, at last—

"I don't."

A smirk tugged at his lips as the room gasped in shock.

An Nari froze, clutching her bouquet tightly. The guests exchanged horrified whispers, stunned by what they had just heard. Only Lee Min Jun, Hye Sua, and Joon So Min remained calm, as if they'd expected this all along.

Seo Jun turned to face the crowd, voice calm but cutting.

"Everyone, I have something to say. This woman An Nari and her family planned to marry into the Lee Group for one reason only: to strip me of my shares and take control of the company."

He glanced at Nari, then at her father, Mr. An, whose face was rapidly draining of color.

"They planned to divorce me after the wedding, take half of my assets, and manipulate the board."

The room erupted in murmurs of disbelief. Cameras flashed. Faces turned pale.

"You interfered with my company, my legacy and worst of all, you tried to manipulate my family."

Seo Jun's gaze flicked toward Joon So Min,

the woman he had truly loved.

Suddenly, a squad of police entered the venue. Chaos swept the aisle.

"Mr. An, Kang Seung, you're both under arrest for corporate fraud and attempted embezzlement."

"F-Father!" An Nari cried, eyes wide in horror as the officers cuffed both men and led them out.

"Seo Jun, please!" she sobbed, falling to her knees. "I did love you...I did everything for you! Please don't do this!"

But Seo Jun didn't look back.

Instead, he walked toward Joon So Min and stood beside her.

"Everyone, the ceremony is over. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Lee Min Jun, ever composed, addressed the guests as they began to scatter in murmuring disbelief.

An Nari's friends avoided her gaze. The influencers she'd invited in pride were now whispering and walking out.

Then, like a final spark in a powder room,An Nari lunged toward Joon So Min, pushing her.

Joon So Min fell into Seo Jun's arms.

"Nari!" Seo Jun yelled, stepping in front of So Min protectively.

But Joon So Min stood up, her expression calm yet burning.

Slap.

The sound echoed in the tense silence.

"That's enough, An Nari," So Min said, voice firm. "You're lucky I'm not pressing charges against you or your father."

Nari, stunned and defeated, turned and ran out in tears.

"Are you alright?" Seo Jun asked gently, holding So Min close.

She nodded faintly, still shaken but no longer afraid. For the first time in a long time, the storm had passed.

"Take her home," said Park Su Ho, stepping beside them.

"We'll handle things here," Lee Yun Jun added.

Seo Jun nodded. "Let's go, So Min."

Later...

Inside the car, the silence was thick. Seo Jun kept stealing glances at her, hoping, needing her to say something.

"Where should we go?" he asked softly.

"Home," she answered without looking at him.

His heart dropped. The word felt cold, not our home. Just hers.

He pulled up to her house, parking quietly.

She stepped out without turning back.

He sighed. But just as he started to drive off, he heard her voice...

"You coming in or not?"

He blinked. She stood in the doorway with a teasing smirk.

Without hesitation, he jumped out of the car and followed her in.

"You tricked me," he said with a smile.

She laughed. He hadn't heard that laugh in so long, and it warmed every broken piece inside him.

"Hungry?" she asked casually.

His stomach growled loudly. She smirked.

"Thought so. Wait here."

In the kitchen, Joon So Min tried to calm her heart. She boiled water, stirred in the instant noodles, and prepared two bowls.

Returning to the living room, she froze.

"Hey!" she shrieked.

Lee Seo Jun looked up from the sketchbook in his hands.

"Why are you reading that!" she blushed, rushing over.

He stood, towering over her, and her breath caught.

"You drew all of these...?"

Without another word, he grabbed her waist and kissed her.

It was gentle, then desperate. A kiss full of every missed moment, every unsaid word, every ache they had held inside.

So Min melted into it.

When he finally pulled back, he smirked at her flushed cheeks.

"The drawings are cute," he teased.

"Why are you invading my privacy!" she snapped, turning away and hugging the book.

"Privacy?" he chuckled, sitting beside her again. "You mean our memories?"

Inside the book were sketches of her and Seo Jun, from happier days. She had drawn them all these years.

And tonight, they weren't just old memories anymore.

They were a reminder that the love they'd once had... maybe, just maybe... never truly disappeared.
