Cherreads

Chapter 2 - Red

Hellagur clearly felt that the moment he stepped into the forest, the surroundings became quiet.

The animals in the forest noticed his intruder, and the singing birds and insects went dormant.

Herag slowed down his pace, adjusted his breathing rate, and began searching for his target prey in his field of vision.

Soon, a gray hare appeared in front.

Herag drew his bow and drew his arrow: "Deep Blue, activate aim assist."

"Calculating wind speed..."

A blue auxiliary line appeared in the field of vision, and Herag adjusted his shooting angle and aimed at the hare.

call out!

The hare's ears moved, but before it could jump to avoid it, it was shot through the head.

Herag carefully observed his surroundings, and after confirming that there was nothing unusual, he went to pick up the hare.

He picked it up and weighed it, it was about five or six pounds.

He pulled out the arrow, wiped it on the rabbit's fur, and put it back into the quiver for continued use.

"My control over my body is still too weak."

Herag felt that he still lacked control over his body and lacked stability when shooting arrows.

A few minutes later, Hellagur found his target again.

There are two birds on the tree in the northeast direction, a pair of red finches, which are pecking at each other to preen their feathers.

Herag held his breath and silently drew his longbow. The arrow, shining with a cold light, aimed at the red-necked finches showing affection on the tree.

call out!

Kill two birds with one stone!

The arrows pierced through the heads of two red-spotted finches and became a candied haws.

The red-spotted finch is not big and does not have much meat.

There are so many wild animals here that it can be said that they are overrun, so naturally no one mentions animal protection.

After an afternoon, Hellagur gained a lot.

Three hares, seventeen finches, and two fish.

If he hadn't lost the strength to draw the bow, he could have continued hunting.

In the evening, the afterglow of the setting sun fell on the jungle, and Hellagur heard strange beast roars coming from the depths of the forest.

He immediately sensed the danger and quickened his pace to leave the forest.

At the castle gate.

"You did all this?" The castle guards were stunned and couldn't believe it.

"Of course, this is the red-spotted sparrow you want. Give me the money!" Herag said proudly.

The guard swallowed hard when he saw the clusters of red finches around Hellagur's neck, touched his pocket and said awkwardly, "I'll just buy five."

"Okay." Herag didn't expect him to buy them all, so he would take whatever profit he could get.

The servants in the castle did not receive any salary, only some tips on certain holidays.

The guards are paid, of course, but not much.

Hellagur returned to the castle with a lot of prey, attracting a lot of attention along the way.

"Where did this guy pick it up?"

"It is said that he shot it while hunting himself."

"I would rather believe that the prey crashed into the trees and died."

"Old Henry, look what this is!" Herag showed off the hare and fish in his hands.

"This..." Old Henry saw the arrow wound on the prey at a glance and began to doubt his eyes.

"These rabbits and fish are for you. Consider them as payment for borrowing your bow and arrows. Use them to replenish your body. It's better to see the gods later. They are always there anyway." Herag put down the hare and fish and said with a smile.

Old Henry did not refuse, but just nodded silently, looking at the bow and arrow and recalling something.

"Can I borrow this bow and arrow for a few more days?" Herag asked.

Old Henry looked a little dazed, and said a little slowly, "I give it to you."

"Ah? Give it to me?" Herag knew that this longbow was old Henry's favorite treasure, so he just gave it to himself?

Old Henry waved his hand and said, "You can take it. I can't open it anyway. It's always good to have someone use it, old friend."

After returning to his hut, Hellagur began to skin the rabbit, and there was also a pile of redfinches to deal with.

It was already night when he finished his work. A rabbit and some red finches were roasting on the fire, and he also kept a fish in a basin, ready to eat it in two days.

There were few seasonings in this world, so Herag found some spicy wild grasses commonly used here in the forest, and took some salt from the salt shaker to spread on the food before eating it.

Rabbits take longer to roast, but croakers don't have much meat and cook quickly.

Herag picked up a redfinches and took a bite. The taste was not as sour as he had imagined, but rather exceptionally crispy and fragrant. It seemed that what the guard said was true, the redfinches were indeed very fragrant.

"Food that matches your constitution has been detected. Consuming 150 Red Sparrows in a row will increase your strength by 1 point."

When Hellagur saw this prompt on the chip, he was shocked.

What does a little strength mean? With a little strength, he can directly turn from a weakling into a strongman.

This world is indeed not simple. In my previous life, there was no such food that could drastically change my physique after eating it.

There are official knights in the castle, and it is said that one official knight can easily deal with dozens of ordinary people.

Baron Buck is a great knight and is said to have extraordinary powers.

Hellagur had never seen it with his own eyes, and since he had only traveled here for a few days, he had always believed that these were just rumors that were becoming more and more outrageous.

But now, he began to have more ideas.

After showing off the red-spotted finch and the hare, Hellagur finally felt full for the first time.

"It feels so good to be full." He lay down on the bed contentedly and soon fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, after finishing his work, Hellagur put on his longbow again and walked into the forest.

This time the goal is very clear, only hunting red-spotted finches.

But at the same time, he was also paying attention to the various plants in the forest. Many of these plants did not exist in his previous life, and he was unable to identify them.

Whenever he encountered a new plant, he would cut a little and smear it on the back of his hand. After waiting for a while, if there was nothing unusual, he would lick it on his lips and let Shenlan analyze its ingredients.

After a few days, Herag actually discovered a plant that can improve physical fitness.

"A food that matches your constitution has been detected. It has been named Red Leaf Fern. Consuming ten kilograms continuously will increase your constitution by one point."

In seven days, Herag ate two hundred red-spotted finches and fifteen kilograms of red-leaf ferns.

"Query your current physical condition."

"Herag Merlin: Strength 4, Agility 6, Constitution 4, Spirit 2."

After he ate 150 red finches, eating more had no effect, as if his body had developed a resistance.

The red leaf fern was very unpalatable and extremely bitter, but Herag ate it with all his might in order to become stronger.

He also discovered that after his strength and physique increased by one point each, his agility automatically increased by 1, but his spirit remained unchanged.

Hellagur clenched his fists, feeling the explosive power lurking within him.

During this period, Hellagur became somewhat famous because he always returned with a full load when he went hunting.

Because of this, he got a nickname, the Red Sparrow Hunter.

Every time he came back from the forest, he would have a string of red finches hanging on his body, hence the name.

"Herlag boy, come out quickly!" Old Henry's long voice came from outside the house.
