Chapter 5 - Emerald

Three days later, Emerald Mountains.

Herag and his group rode on horseback along the mountain road. At the end of the team was a carriage loaded with supplies.

It had just rained lightly in the mountains, and clouds and mist were swirling among the mountains.

It was sunset, and Emil rode ahead, looking around for a suitable place to camp.

Hellagur was in the middle of the team, and a map was constantly being improved in his field of vision.

He had Deep Blue record every place he passed. Combined with the existing map, a more complete map was gradually taking shape.

The Pumpkin Farm is an important agricultural site within Baron Buck's territory, growing a variety of crops. It's located west of the Emerald Mountains. Baron Buck's castle is located to the right of the Emerald Mountains, and they need to cross the Emerald Mountains to reach the Pumpkin Farm.

"Let's spend the night in this cave."

Emile found a spacious cave in front of him. There was hair of some animal in the cave, and there was dried animal feces at the entrance of the cave.

This is obviously the den of animals like bears, but Emil and others don't care about that. The bears are here just to give away their fur.

All the horses were tied up in the woods nearby, where they were left to graze and rest.

The carriage stopped in front of the cave, forming a simple fortification.

The group started to get busy, and a bonfire was lit at the entrance of the cave.

Herag was responsible for taking food from the carriage, including pickled meat, potatoes, tomatoes and other vegetables.

A large pot was quickly hung above the campfire, and pickled meat and other foods were thrown into it.

This is what they eat outside these days, a pot of mixed food.

A rack was quickly erected next to the campfire, where the guards hung their wet clothes to dry.

"Oh! Jimmy! Put your damn socks away! How many times have I told you not to roast socks when cooking! Do you want to eat bacon that smells like stinky socks?" The bearded guard named Hagen sniffed, turned around and saw a pair of stinky socks hanging on the clothes drying rack, and immediately roared.

"Hehe." Jimmy put his socks away embarrassedly and hung them outside the cave.

Seeing that the time was almost up, Hellagur walked to the cauldron and opened the lid.

A strong fragrance burst out, filling the entire cave and drifting into the gradually darkening forest outside.

"Dinner is ready!" Herag shouted, and the guards lying and sitting in the cave came over with their iron lunch boxes.

None of them touched the meat, they just stared at the meat in the pot and swallowed their saliva, waiting for Emile to eat first.

Emile took a fork and put some meat and vegetables into the lunch box. He also scooped some soup and sat down at the entrance of the cave to eat, looking outside the cave, not knowing what he was thinking.

As soon as Emile left, the remaining people became rude and scrambled for the meat in the pot, and soon it was gone.

Hellagur already had experience and with the support of Deep Blue, he was able to grab tanks accurately and quickly.

There was no entertainment after dinner. Everyone chatted around the campfire for a while and then went to bed.

They could only sleep half-undressed, with their weapons and armor kept beside them to ensure that they could be in combat mode at the first moment if something happened.

Herag was on guard tonight. He sat by the campfire and kept an eye on the surroundings.

Since it had just rained in the mountains and there was no dry wood available, Herag went to the carriage to get some stored dry firewood.

The bonfire must be kept burning all night long. Wild animals nearby will automatically retreat when they see the flames, thus saving a lot of trouble.

It was late at night, and a light rain began to fall in the mountains. Herag glanced at the time in his field of vision. It was one in the morning.

Based on daily observations, Deep Blue Chip discovered that a day in this world also lasts about twenty-four hours.

Hellagur asked Deep Blue to calibrate the time according to the 24-hour system of his previous life.

A cold wind blew into the cave, and the campfire made a crackling sound, and the flames jumped in the wind.

The cold wind blew away Herag's sleepiness. He stared at the dark forest outside the cave. There was nothing unusual on the dark blue map.

The original observation range of the deep blue small map was ten meters. After Herag's physical fitness was greatly improved, the small map could display animals and plants within a radius of one hundred meters.

At the same time, in the distant jungle, a group of people were approaching the cave in the dark.

The sound of the mountain rain covered up the sound of their footsteps, and they were careful enough, so it was difficult for them to be noticed under the cover of darkness.

When they got a little closer to the cave, the three leading men made a gesture, and the people behind them immediately split into two teams, sneaking towards the cave from the left and right wings, while the remaining three continued to sneak closer from the front.

Herag sat at the entrance of the cave, sticking to his post, with the dark blue small map always in his field of vision.

"Um?"

He suddenly saw a red dot on the small map, in the woods to the left of the cave entrance. Immediately afterwards, eight more red dots entered the range of the small map.

At the same time, a group of nine people walked in from the right, the same number as on the left.

Herag immediately drew his sword and whispered a warning: "Enemy attack!"

Emil was sleeping in the innermost part of the cave. He woke up before Hellagur's sword was drawn and quickly put on his armor.

The others also moved quickly and woke up.

"There is a team of people approaching here quickly on each side, and three people are approaching here from the front of the cave entrance!" Herag quickly described the current situation.

Emile didn't ask him how he knew this. He walked to the campfire and kicked over the cauldron, and the campfire was immediately extinguished by the soup.

He turned around and said, "Everyone follow me and break through from the right side!"

Their horses are in the woods on the right. If you don't know the enemy's strength, it is a good choice to ride away from the dangerous area first.

Herag and the others nodded in unison and followed Emil out of the cave.

"Damn it! Don't let Emile escape!" A man with a big sword on his back among the three leaders roared.

The movement here was obviously noticed by the people outside, and the moment the bonfire went out they knew they were exposed.

whoosh whoosh whoosh!

A volley of arrows quickly shot towards the cave, most of which were blocked by the carriage.

Emile and his companions were also attacked in the woods on the right, but because it was dark, no one was hit by an arrow.

Herag noticed that this group of people were hiding in the woods and did not choose to confront them head-on. Each of them was carrying a bow and arrow.

"They are here! Come here quickly!" The other party immediately started reporting their location when they saw Emil and his companions.

Herag saw from the small map that another group of people had surrounded them, and the three leading them were approaching here at a very fast speed.

With such a fast speed, they must be real knights. They must break out from the right side as soon as possible.

"Deep Blue, turn on aim assist."

Herag hid behind a tree to avoid the arrows, while drawing his bow and aiming at the enemy in the woods ahead.

Others can't see it, but he can. With the help of Deep Blue, he can still see everything around him clearly in the dark, and can even see people hiding behind trees.
