Movie Universe, Seaside
James held the unconscious Wanda on an empty beach, waves lapping. "Turing," he said, "buy the best-view villa. Now."
"Transaction complete," Turing replied. "Coordinates sent."
James appeared before a white villa, its smart lock opening. He laid Wanda on a soft couch, sunlight on her pale face. His palm glowed gold, healing her chaos-damaged body and mind. Her breathing steadied, eyes fluttering open.
"Where am I?" she rasped.
"New villa," James said, handing her water. "Yours now."
Wanda sat up, eyeing the open kitchen, glass doors to the beach, and abstract art. "Thank you," she whispered, clutching the cup. "I'm sorry for my recklessness."
"Let it go," James said, summoning a gold-runed tome—Kamar-Taj Arcana, Revised. "Learn magic systematically. Chaos magic can reshape reality with your will, not the Darkhold's curse."
Wanda touched the book, scarlet energy resonating. Tears fell, sparkling on the cover. James stepped to the balcony, opening a portal to his universe. "You're leaving?" Wanda asked.
"People are waiting," he said.
She gripped the book. "Treat her well."
"I promise," James smiled, vanishing.
James's Villa
A portal faded in the living room. Wanda and Kara lounged on the couch in shorts and tank tops, legs on the coffee table, an old movie playing. Wanda spotted him, eyes lighting up, leaping into his arms, legs around his waist. "You're back!"
James caught her, kissing her lips. "Miss me?"
"Guess," Wanda teased, eyes warm.
Kara strolled over, handing him lemonade. "Good trip?"
"Decent," James said. They collapsed on the couch, Wanda curling beside him. "Spill," she said. "Which universe did you save?"
"Fought a planet-eater and a Celestial," James said casually.
"Celestials?" Kara raised a brow. "Those cosmic gardeners?"
"Yeah, one needed a lesson," James said.
Wanda giggled, poking him. "Bet you didn't talk, just punched."
"They started it," James said innocently, earning eye-rolls.
His fingers glowed, Reality and Mind Gems forming a purple Darkhold replica, Mind Gem fragment embedded. "Powerful but dangerous," he warned.
Wanda and Kara leaned in, sensing its energy. "I improved it," James said. "The fragment protects you from corruption."
Kara's super vision scanned it. "Complex energy structure."
Wanda's magic resonated. "It's special."
"Study it slowly," James said, eyeing their focused faces.
Night fell, the villa quiet. James and Wanda headed to the bedroom but paused. Kara stood alone on the balcony, moonlight on her golden hair, looking lonely.
"She's been like this?" James whispered, seeing her furrowed brow.
Wanda recalled yesterday: Kara, in the kitchen, tracing her coffee cup, saying, "Sometimes I wonder if I need family… You two saved me, treated me so well."
Wanda touched James's back. "Rest. I'll check on her."
He met her eyes, understanding, kissing her forehead. "Don't force it."
"It's not forced," Wanda said, gripping his wrist. "I'm used to her."
He nodded, entering the bedroom, turning the shower loud to drown out their talk. Wanda stepped onto the balcony. "Pretty moon, huh? But someone's face is rougher than its craters."
Kara laughed. "Kryptonians don't get to mope." She froze as Wanda took her hand, chaos magic glowing. "Listen," Wanda said, locking eyes. "About yesterday…"
The night wind carried their words, Kara's wide eyes catching the meaning. James, in the bathroom, cut his super hearing as Kara's excited grip cracked the railing.
