Mavis stiffened. "You can really… restore my fur?" He wiggled his brittle tail—sad and dry-looking.
He had already given up on it. Zirron had looked miserable every time he saw the fragile strands, and Mavis had carried that guilt like a stone in his chest. Zirron loved patting his fur; Mavis loved being petted. Losing that had hurt both of them.
And Sylene kept mourning over it too—guilty to the point he couldn't even look Zirron in the eyes.
Alden lifted his goggles to his forehead. With his sharp icy blue eyes and striking face revealed, both hybrids' hearts skipped a beat.
"Who do you think I am?" Alden declared. "I'm a genius."
Instantly, both hybrids' skipped heartbeats corrected themselves.
The vampire looked dazzling at first glance—but his narcissism diluted the effect completely.
They burst into laughter.
"Alright, Sir Alden—thank you! You're the most genius, handsome vampire!" Mavis chimed.
