Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Artificial Mutant Subject 757

"Doctor, the test results for Subject 757 are in."

"What level?"

"Level 2."

"Level 2 means that even at full potential, it can only perform shallow mind reading and control magnetic fields weighing no more than fifty kilograms?"

"Yes, doctor. According to our current research data on mutants, that's correct."

"It seems fusing the genes of Professor X and Magneto to create the ultimate artificial mutant is indeed impossible. Let's conclude this experiment here. From now on, we'll focus all our research on X-24. He is our strongest asset!"

"Should Subject 757 be handled like the previous subjects?"

"Keep it and train it with the others. Even as a Level 2, a fusion of Professor X and Magneto's genes could prove useful if developed correctly."

"Yes, doctor!"

"No. 757, show decisiveness and ruthlessness. Attack my vital points. Don't hesitate, you weakling!"

On the training ground, a muscular man wielding a dagger launched a fierce attack on a young man, seventeen or eighteen years old. The young man used his ability to control the dagger, blocking and countering with his fists, but his skill and judgment were clearly lacking.

"We both control magnetism, yet my abilities fall far short of Magneto's."

The young man, George Miller, was a time traveler who, three months earlier, found himself in the body of a genetically engineered mutant known as Subject 757. His mutant abilities included mind reading and magnetism control. Unfortunately, his mind reading only worked when the opponent was completely off guard, and it could only reveal their current thoughts, not their deepest secrets. His control over magnetism was even worse. Currently, he could only manipulate objects weighing less than ten kilograms. While somewhat useful, it was a far cry from Magneto, who could lift entire structures and fly.

He was adequate against ordinary humans but powerless against defensive users like the Thing, Colossus, and the White Queen. His primary goal was to escape this brutal laboratory.

"Ring, ring, ring!"

A shrill bell sounded, and a staff member in a white coat entered, halting the training session and placing a high-tech device around George's neck.

"Subject 757, it's time for dinner!"

"Yes," George replied stiffly, then obediently followed the staff member out of the room. The device around his neck was called a "Mutant Inhibitor." Once attached, his abilities were completely suppressed, transforming him into a normal person. He had to wear it except during training and combat.

As he walked down the long corridor, he saw many other mutants, besides himself, being escorted from various training grounds by staff. However, they were younger, appearing only twelve or thirteen years old.

"The Marvel world is truly a treacherous place," George mused. From the moment he discovered he was a mutant, he knew he had entered the Marvel universe. While not a huge Marvel fan, he had occasionally watched the movies and understood that the Marvel Universe contained many distinct storylines. However, one thing was certain: few were peaceful.

Destroying half the population, as Thanos had done, wasn't the most horrifying act; entire universes being wiped out was perfectly normal. But since he'd traveled here, survival was his only option. Who wants to die when they can live? He cherished life deeply and, if possible, desperately desired immortality.

Some claimed immortality was a curse; watching loved ones pass away was painful. But he believed the small price was worth the benefits of immortality. Deep down, who didn't want to achieve immortality? Even after the Qin Dynasty unified the six kingdoms, they sought the elixir of life.

Based on his observations over the past month, he was fairly certain his Marvel Universe connected to the world of "Logan." He saw the young girl, X-23, among the children—a clone of Wolverine possessing healing powers and adamantium claws. However, the current time wasn't 2029, as in the movies, but 2009. From the staff's gossip, he knew this universe had playboy Tony Stark and Captain America. According to the "Logan" timeline, Wolverine wouldn't have been born in 2009, yet the determined little girl before him was clearly twelve or thirteen years old.

This wasn't the Mutant Universe or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but a Marvel Universe unknown to him. It didn't matter if the timeline was different, as long as events unfolded as expected. Whether it was 2029 or 2009, his hope was that the mutant children's escape plan, with the help of a kind nurse, would give him a chance to escape the lab.

As usual, George, determined to maintain his image as obedient and easily controllable, refrained from communicating with anyone. After dinner, he quietly retreated to his room and fell asleep. The lab was filled with surveillance cameras, forcing him to conceal any emotion and avoid detection, thus lowering the staff's suspicions. To mitigate this, he even concealed some of his strengths during training, such as his ability to control his dagger's speed and his thoughts on his abilities. Of course, he couldn't appear too insignificant, or he might be discarded like garbage.

"What's happening? It hurts!"

Half asleep, George suddenly felt a pain as if his soul were being torn apart. However, the pain came and went quickly, not causing him any undue distress. After the pain subsided, he discovered he had entered a strange state. He suddenly opened his eyes, and two completely different perspectives appeared. One was the view he normally saw of his laboratory bedroom, while the other was in a very shabby little cubicle. He felt as if he had suddenly gained another body, one he could control as freely as his current one. How could he describe it? It was like suddenly gaining a controllable clone.

He closed his eyes and lay back in bed, focusing his attention on the clone. Suddenly, fragments of memories flashed through his mind like a movie. When they ended, he couldn't help but mutter, "This... is the world of Harry Potter's wizards!"

The eleven-year-old child in his memory was called Dora. Originally an orphan from a care home, she was adopted by a wizard from Knockturn Alley because of her strange manifestations of wizarding blood. However, this wizard was no good; he was a hidden Dark wizard. He adopted Dora solely for experiments in Dark Arts and potions, as well as to provide free labor.

Using Muggles for experiments easily attracted the Ministry of Magic's attention, but using his adopted child was a different matter. As long as he kept quiet, no one would ever discover. Even if Dora died accidentally, it could be passed off as an accident. Furthermore, many Dark spells and potions worked differently on Muggles and wizards, so experiments on wizards were more effective. Thus, poor Dora grew up under the torture of the Dark wizard. The long-term abuse left Dora with a cowardly character. She dared not resist the Dark wizard or tell anyone about her situation. Her daily life was worse than that of a house-elf.

Dora hoped to escape the Dark wizard's clutches by the time she turned eleven when she was accepted into Hogwarts. Unfortunately, while she received the acceptance letter, the Dark wizard refused to let her attend. For young wizards born into Muggle families, turning eleven guaranteed admission to Hogwarts, regardless of parental consent. This was because if a young wizard didn't learn magic and how to channel their magical powers, they could develop fear and aversion towards their abilities, potentially becoming an Obscurus, something the wizarding world absolutely forbade. However, for children from wizarding families, there were fewer requirements. Wizarding parents could choose not only Hogwarts but other schools like Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, and Ilvermorny. They could even enroll their children in magic classes for a cheaper price or teach them magic themselves.

Upon learning from the Dark wizard that she couldn't attend Hogwarts, Dora was devastated and committed suicide by drinking a potion in her cubicle at night. For unknown reasons, George's split soul took over Dora's body, becoming its new owner.

"How tragic!" George sighed after reading Dora's memories.

"Come here!" Perhaps it was the aftereffects of Dora's suicide potion, but George felt extremely thirsty and instinctively activated his power toward the iron cup on the table. The cup quickly flew into his hands. He raised his hand and drank the water in one gulp. Suddenly, George was stunned.

"My power... I can actually use it in this body!"

Yes, he had just used the mutant's control over magnetism, but it wasn't his original body using it, but his clone in this world.

"Could it be that the innate abilities of the two worlds can be shared?"

At this moment, George had a bold guess in his mind. Turning his attention again to his main body, he discovered something extra in his Marvel body. According to Dora's memory of wizarding common sense, it was the unique magic power in the wizard's bloodline.

"If that's the case, then it would be great!"

At this moment, a series of plans had already begun to form in George's mind.
