"Khun Nani, I'm calling to inform you that someone has already paid for the other room in your house and will be moving in today."
"Oh? Sure. What's their name?" Nani asked, his voice steady, though curiosity flickered in his chest. The house agent responsible for finding him a housemate responded without hesitation.
"Sky Thamnithit."
Nani froze.
"He's twenty-23 years old, a third year junior like you."
Nani barely registered the rest of the agent's words. His grip on the phone tightened as a cold shiver ran down his spine. "Sky Thamnithit," he murmured to himself, his breath hitching. "No... it can't be him. He is not back from China yet I would have heard if he was back in Thailand"
Nani let out a nervous laugh. "He's too rich to live in a shared apartment and his dad wouldn't let him anywhere near me," he muttered, shaking his head. The very idea was absurd. He scolded himself for even entertaining such thoughts and sighed, pushing the matter aside. It was just a coincidence. It had to be.
The hours passed, and Nani was on the verge of drifting into sleep when the sharp chime of the doorbell jolted him awake. His heart leaped into his throat. He glanced at the clock-past 10 PM.
Why is he arriving so late?
He had expected his new housemate much earlier. Unease settled in his stomach as he climbed out of bed. He debated changing out of his nightwear but dismissed the thought-there was no point. It wasn't as if he had anyone to impress.
Taking a deep breath, he opened the door.
"Hel-" The greeting died in his throat.
The color drained from his face. His pulse roared in his ears. He felt hot. Clammy. Breathless.
Standing at his doorstep, smiling like a predator who had finally cornered its prey, was Sky Thamnithit.
Nani's body stiffened, panic seizing his limbs. Oh my God.
What are the chances?
Sky's dark eyes glinted with amusement. "Are you not going to let me in, Nani?" he asked, his voice smooth yet taunting. He stepped closer, his breath-a mix of mint and strawberries-ghosting against Nani's skin.
Nani didn't move, too caught up in the overwhelming realization that the very person he had been hoping to avoid was now standing in his home.
Sky reached out, fingers brushing through Nani's hair in a possessive caress.
Nani flinched, stumbling backward. A shaky breath slipped past his lips. "O-oh... s-sure. You can come in," he stammered, cursing himself for how weak he sounded.
Sky stepped inside, his gaze sweeping over the apartment before settling back on Nani. That piercing stare made Nani regret not changing his clothes. He feels naked under Sky's eyes. He clenched his fists, resisting the urge to physically shield himself from Sky's suffocating presence.
"Why are you here?" Nani's voice was barely above a whisper.
Sky smirked. "Isn't it obvious?"
Nani's throat tightened. I don't want trouble Sky. You don't need to live here."
Silence stretched between them, thick with unspoken history. Then, with a quiet desperation, Nani's voice cracked. "I don't want you here, Sky. Please, just go. Leave me alone."
Tears burned in his eyes, and despite his best efforts, they spilled over. His hands trembled as he pleaded, "Please, Sky. I just want to be happy. I just want peace."
Sky's expression darkened. In a swift motion, he grabbed Nani's wrist and yanked him forward. Their bodies nearly collided, and Nani gasped, the intensity in Sky's gaze making his knees weak.
"You're mine," Sky murmured, his voice low, dangerous. "Mine."
Nani's breath hitched. A flicker of something-pain?-passed through Sky's eyes, but it vanished as quickly as it came.
"Nobody, not even you, can take you away from me," Sky continued, his grip tightening. "So don't even bother asking me to leave. Not in a thousand years."
For a fleeting moment, Nani thought he saw vulnerability hidden beneath Sky's possessive claim. But it was gone before he could grasp it.
Sky released his wrist, his tone shifting back to something eerily casual. "Where's my room? I need to rest."
Wordlessly, Nani pointed toward the spare bedroom. Without another glance, Sky walked away, leaving Nani standing there, legs weak, breath unsteady.
As Sky's door clicked shut, Nani sank to the floor, pressing trembling fingers against his lips.
How am I going to survive living with him?
