Chapter 11 - chapter 11

I made some small talk with Michael as we walked to the sacred gear subsystem and learnt quite a bit about when and where I was. Apparently, the new Red Dragon Emperor had been found by the devil, and Michael had just tasked the church to find the missing pieces of Excalibur, but had decided to allow the church to do so in any way they chose.

That told me that I was before the Kokabiel fight but after the raiding game where Issei fights Riser, if it is well known that he is the Red Dragon Emperor.

"So how has heaven been since the death of God beyond the obvious grieving and work in keeping the church from doing dumb things like the holy sword project" he didn't seem surprised at my knowledge of one of the church's most well-kept secrets but after I had continuously dropped knowledge I shouldn't know he just rolled with it.

"We aren't doing very well in all actuality, without the ability to increase our numbers without an lengthy ritual that allows two angels to procreate we have to be very conservative with how we act, that along with myself needing to stay in heaven to keep Father's system from further degradation we can't involve ourselves in many meeting between factions, severely limiting our chances of gaining allies" hmm it explained how the church managed to fuck up so badly time and time again.

"Well with the repairs Clockwork planets' holder is doing I should be able to start actually repairing myself, Michael" The now much softer voice of Paraclete echoed from around us and I marvelled at how she slowly changed from a monotone robotic voice to being quite similar to what I remember my own mother sounding like.

"You can call me Nick, Paraclete. I know how much of a mouthful my sacred gear's name is" I didn't know why she called me by my sacred gear, but I'm guessing it had to do with me probably not being catalogued in God's systems.

"Then I shall do so Nick. But you are coming up on the sacred gear subsystem now" I thank Paraclete and look around the room to get an idea of what I was working with but the only thing in the room was a single throne in the middle of the room.

"Um question, where is the system?" I ask aloud, and Michael smiles at me and points to the throne.

"Father liked using his throne for controlling the entire system, so the only access point we know of is by sitting on his throne", I groan and make my way up to the throne, but stop a moment before I could touch it.

"I am allowed to sit on the throne right?"I ask aloud to make sure no defences would activate if I sat down.

"When you finished repairing the angel system, I added you at the same level as Michael, if only while you are here" I nod and slowly sit on the massive chair, and when my butt makes contact, I'm flooded with an enormous amount of information that mixes seemingly too well with my knowledge from the inspired inventor.

In front of me, as I reel from the blast of information, appears a collection of floating screens, each displaying a different glitch the system had logged.

I shake my head to try and get rid of my dizziness before I focus on the screens and decide to put my last three charges for the week into DxD Angelic programming.

When the disorientation from the flood of knowledge was gone, I started the lengthy process of fixing the bugs and glitches in the system, not only the sacred gear system but also the miracle and holy magic systems, allowing those with enough faith to use holy magic and miracles again.

POV change to 3rd person

What Nick didn't know was that behind his head the halo of gears had shifted to grow larger and changed from metal to solid light as he worked to fix the system, after the halo had finished growing to double its original size the area around the small of his back started glowing and 10 pairs of wings made from the same light gears as his halo sprouted.

Nick also missed Michael and Paraclete talking right in front of him, "Are you sure he isn't father because he is currently in possession of both his halo and wings, even if they look a bit different?" Michael commented to Paraclete as he watched Nick do what he had only seen his father do.

"He may have the Father's spirit like the spirit inheritors of heroes, but it is more likely that Nick's sacred gear is undergoing its balance breaker while connected to the Father's throne, making its form take after the Father himself." Michael nodded but still held out hope that this young man was his Father's spirit inheritor.

The process of correcting all the bugs and glitches in the system took well over 3 hours, even with the system being linked directly to Nick's brain, and in that time,e, the ha, lo, along with Nick's new wi,ngs, had settled back into being made of metal instead of light.

POV returned to 1st person

I use the back of my hand to wipe away a bit of sweat as I put the finishing touches on the system with the stabilisation of the balance breaker system into something that can actually be managed by Paraclete, so no more juggernaut drive-type situations happen.

"Ok, that should be everything you said needed to be fixed, Paraclete", I say as I pull my mind back into my body and stand up on my somewhat unsteady legs with the aid of Michael, who came to stand next to me while I worked.

"Yes everything else can be handled by myself and micheal with the use of that fascinating metal you used in the angel system after I finish my in depth scan of the metal" I hum at her unasked question and take a moment to place my hand back onto the throne before sending the atomic structure and composition of the holy adamantium to Paraclete with a simple note to enjoy.

"Do you mind if I take a break in the garden, Michael?" I ask the leader of heaven.

"I would be happy for you to enjoy my Father's garden, Nick", the 12-winged angel replied.

I spoke of what I had done while we made our way up to the lower levels of heaven as God's throne was on the 7th layer and his garden was on the 5th.

"I also made sure to stabilise the desire-based growth that would allow somebody to grow too quickly for their own body to adjust in time" he nodded as I continued explaining about changing it so that even the lower-tier gears had at least enough power for the host to defend themselves from other humans be they normal or superhuman.

"It was always a shame to see those with such great potential have their journey cut short from the actions of another outside of their control" he spoke gently as we exited the hallway into the Garden.

And what a Garden it was, it looked like paradise (yes, I am aware that it is actual paradise). I could see as far as I could rows upon rows of all manner of beautiful flowers and vibrant trees with just the most adorable looking chibi bumblebees fluttering about here and there tending to the Garden.
