I pull back my screwdriver as the sub IM gear makes its distinct click, telling me that it is wound up enough to jumpstart its own energy production.
I grin as the K9's eyes go from a full grey to a bright blue as it finishes its boot-up sequence, before it lets out a bark and tilts its head as its empty memory system catalogues both mine and Heimerdinger's face as admin and innocent, respectively.
I reach out and give the new good boy a scratch under his chin before he hops off the table and makes his way to circle heimerdinger and gently rub against the much smaller man's body looking for scratches.
"He's asking for you to pay him", I explain when the Yordle looks at me, confused at the K9's behaviour.
"Ah, yes, that would make the most sense," he gives the metal dog some scratches in the same spot I'd probably not know where else to scratch the puppy.
"Well, that is the start-up sequence of my atomatons, and if you have any questions regarding the book I have lent you, I will be sure to answer them should you return to the much smaller man, who nods and thanks me once more before leaving for good this time.
"I'm sure Major has something for you to do, so be on your way", I tell the K9, along with a pat on the butt to make sure it understands that I want it to leave.
With no more distractions I was able to sit and think about what I wanted to use my new charges on and after a while I decided it would be good to use them on something I will want later down the line but might not have the time for if I suddenly have to use every new charge to stop some tragedy.
I add all 5 charges into interdimensional travel and am blasted with more knowledge than all my other charges combined. See, when I placed a charge into something, the charge can have different reaches depending on how narrow the subject is. On something like Clockwork Planet, 5 charges encompass all knowledge anyone could learn, but with interdimensional travel, 5 charges were the equivalent of all knowledge anybody will ever learn, past, present or future.
It makes me the most knowledgeable person to have ever lived in any universe on the subject, yes even more than what somebody like Rick Sanchez would know.
I knew more about the operation of parallel worlds than anybody will ever learn outside of maybe the 2nd true magician (the kaleidoscope) because his is magic-based knowledge, not science. And with this new knowledge, I now know a very simple fact that not many will know or ever learn.
"It's hilariously easy to travel dimensions", I mutter as I start grabbing all the necessary equipment for the creation of an IM gear, but instead of creating it to be placed in an atomaton, I build what resembles a Stargate in the furthest corner of my workshop.
With the base gate taking about 3 days to build (with breaks to do other things like eat and run my shop or teach the kids) and the actual DAIM gear (dimensionally anchored imaginary gear) taking another 3 just because I wanted to be absolutely sure nothing would be able to interact with the gate from the other side or heavens forbid escape to this dimension.
I put the finishing touches on the much larger machine than the original design intended for, and with a click that I heard four times at the exact time signalling that the gates' 4D reality anchor had activated, I stepped back to admire it.
The original design looked like a Stargate from the series of the same name; now, it looked more like the gate from the Factorio mod space exploration instead, with an incredibly intricate aiming system and a deep blue glow from the DAIM gear at the top of the circle that made up the gate.
It had taken so long to make the gate that when I was actually finished, my charges had reset, and I had 5 more to work with, and this time I had a brilliant idea. By dropping 2 charges into sacred gear creation and another into soul surgery I had the knowledge required to make my intended personal defence system.
And because I wanted to add some extra spice to my new sacred gear, I dropped the last two charges into fictional metallurgy, giving me the knowledge on the composition of a staggering amount of both bullshit and amazing metals.
Over the next few days, I spent my free time making what was going to be the most bullshit sacred gear in any universe that would also be completely useless to anybody but me.
The soul surgery was a lot more complicated, as I had to first create a soul for Chadwick, wait till it reached the size needed for him to be able to interact with souls, before giving him the knowledge to do the surgery himself. But after all that annoying hassle, I was ready for my sacred gear to be implemented into my own soul and attain ultimate power (jk)
When I woke up from the anesthesia, to the feeling of a clicking sensation I had become very familiar with emanating from my chest, I hurriedly pulled on the sensation and above my head, acting almost like a hal,o, was a gear that shifted from metal to metal, from fictional to real, and from solid to liquid.
"Clockwork planet", I called the name of my sacred gear, and it responded just as I had designed it to, with a push of will, a gear made from adamantium forms in front of my hand in less than the time it takes to blink.
See the sacred gear Clockwork planet in the hands of anybody else would be at best a C-tier production type because it can only create gears of varying shapes and sizes of metals that the user knows the atomic structure of, but in my hands with my ridiculous knowledge of clockwork technology and metallurgy, I could do this.
I use a flash of will, and in front of me, a fully formed and complete clockwork dragon assembles itself in accordance with what I picture. The sacred gear even allows me to create IM gears because technically they are a type of gear, if only slightly.
"Hey big guy" I say as I pat the large dragon composed of celestial bronze (yeah I copied the dragon from Percy Jackson so what) "it's nice to meet you" I say as I inspect him for any defects and am happy to report that there are none, even his IM gear that controls his own gravity allowing the 20 ton metal beasts to fly is in working order.
