Ahmed sat for a while in the director's house to take a moment of rest after what had happened to him. He was still tired, but his mind was occupied with only one thing. He pulled the small piece of paper from his pocket and looked at the numbers written on it.
He approached his father and said:
"Father… how do I enter these numbers into the map program?"
Abu Ahmed looked at the paper and said:
"These are coordinates." Then he asked him: "Who gave this to you?"
Ahmed replied: "The director's daughter… Irina." Then he said seriously: "I want to go save her."
Abu Ahmed looked at him thoughtfully and said: "Are you sure?"
Ahmed replied confidently: "Yes… she gave me a challenge, and I will go alone." He added: "Father, if I don't hurry, she might kill herself."
Abu Ahmed sighed a little and said: "But imagine if Misaki sees you… what will happen?"
Ahmed gave a slight smile and said: "I will solve that problem later. What matters now is saving her from this way of thinking… because it won't help her; it will only harm her."
Abu Ahmed took the phone and entered the coordinates into the map program, then handed the phone back to Ahmed. He said to him: "Let's go buy the necessary things for you."
Ahmed said: "Thank you, Father."
The two left the house, after asking permission from the director's wife, Natalia. They went to a nearby supermarket and bought the items Ahmed might need on the road. Then they returned to the director's house.
When they arrived, Abu Ahmed called the director and told him what Ahmed had said. Abu Ahmed said over the phone: "Ahmed wants to go save Irina."
The director was silent for a moment, then said: "Mohammed… we need an off-road motorcycle."
Abu Ahmed replied: "Yes, that is what we need."
The director said: "I have one in the garage inside the house. Tell my wife to open the garage, and have Ahmed take it and go quickly."
Abu Ahmed said: "Alright." Then he ended the call.
Abu Ahmed told Natalia what the director had said, and she went and opened the garage. There was a powerful motorcycle suitable for difficult roads. Abu Ahmed took it to a nearby gas station and filled the tank completely. Then he returned to the house again.
Ahmed had prepared himself. Abu Ahmed looked at him and said: "Is everything ready?"
Ahmed said: "Yes."
Natalia approached them and said something in Russian while looking at Ahmed with concern. Abu Ahmed translated her words and said: "She is telling you: Bring back my daughter."
Ahmed looked at her and said respectfully: "I will do my best."
Then he took the phone that would guide him on the road. Abu Ahmed said to him: "Return safely." Then he added, remembering something: "Misaki might come here… so do not blame me."
Ahmed swallowed hard and said: "I will deal with that later."
Then he mounted the motorcycle. He looked at his father one last time and said: "Thank you, Father."
He started the engine. Its sound rang out in the quiet of the night… then Ahmed sped off on the road, heading toward the mountains where the old abandoned mine was located.
Inside him, there was only one question:
Would he succeed in saving Irina… or would he have arrived too late?
